00:11Dragonfin Soup
00:15It began with the forging of the great human Vazen Empire
00:23The Imperial Dynasty devoted their strength to the united rule of Asherah
00:28And all of its Kingdoms
00:33Yet there were some who openly resisted
00:41And others who waited in the shadows
00:58And all of their power
01:37Grazie a tutti!
01:58for all kinds of studios, both in-house and freelance.
02:02That's right.
02:02We've worked on titles such as James Bond, Aquanox, Sims, League of Legends, Magic the Gathering, Lord of the Rings.
02:09Both are very experienced in game production, team management, and direction.
02:14We know what we're doing, and we deliver what we promise.
02:18Obviously, Randis and I grew up on playing games, and we're both huge fans of classic and arcade games.
02:24Having worked in the industry for over 16 years with all kinds of different studios,
02:29we feel that the work was, at times, fun and a good experience, but it truly didn't fulfill us.
02:34What we really want is to make games that we love to play ourselves,
02:39as well as being able to craft our own creative experience, choose our own path,
02:43and build a universe of fairy-tale-inspired worlds.
02:48We obviously are not trying to compete to the next-gen titles in terms of graphics and scope.
02:53We simply cannot afford a high-end 3D engine at this point.
02:57Nor do we want to, to be honest.
03:00We're also not interested in freemium apps, MTX milking, or those super casual toilet break games.
03:06But we always wanted to work on the type of game we used to play when we were younger.
03:11Those type of games we played on Super Nintendo or PC Engine on the arcades.
03:16We love classic console RPGs and adventures, games like Zelda, Final Fantasy, Shining Force,
03:23Landstalker, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound.
03:26Oh man, Earthbound's awesome.
03:28We wanted to make a personal game with a classic feel,
03:32but we also wanted to innovate without changing what we love too much, you know.
03:36We decided not to go with the rather overused pixel look that so many indie games have these days.
03:44With today's tech, we wanted to create a beautiful, high-resolution 2D game
03:50that would also look great on a 60-inch TV screen.
03:53Smooth controls, fun gameplay, and of course a fun story that does not revolve around
03:59saving your home village from some evil dude.
04:04That's right.
04:05So, we came up with a concept for Dragonfin Soup,
04:08which can best be described as a classic JRPG-style game
04:11with roguelike elements and tactical gameplay.
04:14Being roguelike fans, we both loved the old-school ASCII art,
04:18but there was also console games that were roguelikes,
04:21such as Sheeran the Wanderer and Chocobo Dungeon.
04:23However, not everyone's a roguelike fan,
04:25and also because we didn't want to make another random dungeon crawler,
04:28we decided to create two distinct game modes.
04:30The first plays like a classic mystery dungeon roguelike with permanent death.
04:34The second plays like an RPG with proper story,
04:38persistent content, grinding, crafting, fishing, you name it.
04:41Our change was to design and create a game that's very accessible and fun controls
04:45without having to rely on a large number of buttons,
04:49confusing UI, thousands of keyboard shortcuts,
04:53while still offering a rich, deep and tactical gameplay.
04:56We will support gamepad controls, keyboard, mouse, touchscreen,
05:01for an intuitive and fast-paced gameplay.
05:03The controls and the interface will be easy to learn
05:06without having this lame casual game vibe.
05:09In Dragonfin Soup we have day-and-night cycles,
05:14crafting, gathering, fishing, design story missions,
05:19randomly generated quests and missions,
05:21puzzles, lots of different settings,
05:23monsters, secrets, abilities, fun items.
05:28Don't forget robots, boos and lasers.
05:31Yep.
05:32Laser pads, 20 equipment slots for your weapons and gear,
05:35all kinds of abilities and magic and many other fun things.
05:39Grim Bros is a tiny international indie game team.
05:42We're developing the game from our homes.
05:43We have three full-time programmers
05:45and a really talented freelance composer
05:47who's taking care of the music.
05:50Yeah, Ash and I are in charge of the production.
05:52Ash is in charge of business development,
05:54legal work and PR, among many other things.
05:57We are a very small startup team
05:59and we all have to wear many hats.
06:01And Randis is our one-man army.
06:03He's doing all the concepts, graphics, sound effects,
06:06story and game design.
06:07And I must say, he's a very humble person.
06:11Yeah, it's like we're a humble bundle, right?
06:14We've been working on Dragoman 2 for almost a year now
06:16and we're funding the production
06:17with the help of our amazing friends and family.
06:20Thank you guys, we couldn't have come this far without your support.
06:22I love you guys.
06:23You're a big fan.
06:26Grim Bros is very cost-efficient.
06:28We put every cent into the game
06:29and exactly where it needs to go.
06:31Everyone on the team is working really hard
06:33to make it all happen.
06:34and we still really need more money for our production.
06:37Even though our team is small,
06:38everyone has family support and we have our bills to pay.
06:41Please, help us make Dragonfin Super Shine.
06:44This is our first title and getting funny is tough,
06:46but we are absolutely confident that we can deliver.
06:49We really want to give you our best
06:51and make a great game we can all be proud of
06:53and you can have a fantastic time playing.
06:55We are transparent with our spendings
06:57and we can promise that all money will go into development
07:00and will be spent with great care.
07:02By all means,
07:03we are not treating the Kickstarter as pre-sales.
07:06After the game is released,
07:07it will take a good while
07:08until we actually will receive any money
07:11from most of the platforms.
07:12And then we will first pay back
07:14all our friends who invested in us.
07:16This will take a couple months
07:17until we actually start to make any money.
07:20The team, however, will have to keep working,
07:23giving support, creating new content for the game,
07:25keeping it both fun with expansions
07:27and also free content updates.
07:30That's right.
07:30We'd love to provide modding support,
07:33new features, new game modes,
07:35new hero characters,
07:36each with their own unique storylines,
07:38and of course, port our game to consoles and handhelds.
07:42But most importantly,
07:43we want to build a lasting relationship
07:44with the gaming community.
07:45Hear from you,
07:46get you involved in the creation process.
07:48We listen to feedback.
07:50We really hope to get the word out
07:51and with your help,
07:52we can make this happen.
07:54Thank you for watching
07:54and thank you for backing us.
07:56Thank you, guys.
07:57And please stay in touch with us
07:58via our forums or Facebook
07:59and we will update you about our progress.
08:02Take care, everybody.
08:04Thanks. Bye.
