00:54Hello everyone, I'm Yosuke Hayashi from Koei Tecmo Games,
00:58the producer of Hyrule Warriors.
01:00Today, I'd like to give some new information about Hyrule Warriors directly to you.
01:10First, I'd like to spend a little time showing you how battles progress in Hyrule Warriors,
01:15using the first stage in the game.
01:22As you may know, Hyrule Warriors combines two series,
01:25The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors.
01:32Based in the world of The Legend of Zelda, you can use simple controls to defeat hordes of enemies
01:37with the flashy moves and exciting one-man army action of Dynasty Warriors.
01:43On the battlefield, the player is not the only one facing enemies.
01:46In addition to many Hyrulean soldiers, other characters like Zelda and Impa will fight alongside you on the same field.
01:54Depending on the situation, characters will engage in battle chatter, and the player's objectives will continuously change.
02:04There are some enemies you can't defeat easily merely using combo attacks.
02:12When you're facing this type of enemy, you must lock onto it using the L button, close the gap, and
02:18find the right opening to defeat it.
02:24In Hyrule Warriors, many of the gameplay elements are based on those from the Legend of Zelda series.
02:40Notice the familiar music when the player requires bombs.
02:48Looks like it's time to use them right away.
02:57You can throw bombs to destroy rocks, or even to attack enemies.
03:04Okay, now let's look at the map.
03:09Enemies are in red, and allies are in blue.
03:14On the battlefield, there are many keeps.
03:16And by taking over these keeps, you can increase your number of soldier bases.
03:21Changing the battle situation in your favor.
03:24This red square here represents one of the keeps.
03:27Defeat the enemies in this keep to take it over.
03:36Expanding your territory to create a favorable situation for your army is the most important key to victory.
03:48And now, it looks like a giant boss has appeared, King Dodongo.
03:55New missions will appear as battle situations change.
03:59And the victory conditions will also constantly change.
04:02Even just now, the victory condition changed to defeat King Dodongo.
04:07So you have to defeat him to clear the stage.
04:12You can't damage him much with normal attacks.
04:14But since it's a common Zelda convention to use the item you just acquired,
04:18let's use the bombs we just got.
04:34Once you complete a stage, you'll see your score on screen.
04:38And you'll learn rupees and various other materials.
04:42I'll explain how you can use these later.
04:55In Hyrule Warriors, you can acquire many other familiar items from the Legend of Zelda series.
05:01In addition to destroying walls with bombs, you can attack distant enemies using arrows,
05:09climb up walls with the hookshot,
05:14and more.
05:18You have to take advantage of each type of item,
05:20and think your way through each level as you defeat enemies and explore the field.
05:24And just like King Dodongo, who I showed earlier,
05:28there are some monsters who are more easily defeated with certain items.
05:32For example, here's Goma.
05:35If you've played a game from the Zelda series, you've probably encountered this monster before.
05:42Its weak spot is its big open eye.
05:45But you can't effectively attack it with normal weapons.
05:53That's where the bow comes in.
05:56Use different kinds of items to battle various bosses.
06:00Just like in the Legend of Zelda games.
06:07Hello, everyone.
06:09I'm Eiji Aonuma from Nintendo, and I'm a supervisor on Hyrule Warriors.
06:14I'm also the producer of the Legend of Zelda series.
06:17In Hyrule Warriors, there are many elements drawn from the Zelda series.
06:21I would like to show you one of them right now.
06:24Let's start with the Kuko.
06:27This is, of course, a past Zelda game.
06:29As you probably know, Kukos are a very familiar staple within the Zelda series.
06:34You'll notice them here and there in villages and towns,
06:37and you can pick one up or attack them.
06:40But if you keep attacking them, it makes them quite angry.
06:45Now, here's a Kuko in Hyrule Warriors.
06:47You have to be careful in this game as well,
06:50since they will come after you if you accidentally hit them.
06:55But in some situations, you can make them your ally,
06:58and they may be able to help you turn the battle in your favor.
07:01I'll be back with more in a bit.
07:11Now, I'd like to spend a little bit of time introducing you to some of the playable characters in the
07:15game.
07:19Unlike in traditional Zelda titles, many characters will join the battle in Hyrule Warriors.
07:25First up, of course, is Link.
07:29In Hyrule Warriors, he appears as a soldier training to defend Hyrule Kingdom, where Princess Zelda lives.
07:37His signature weapon is, naturally, a one-handed sword.
07:41Link is a well-rounded hero, easy to use for anyone.
07:45And he can, of course, do his famous spin attack.
07:49Now for our heroine, Princess Zelda.
07:52In the main Zelda series, she normally doesn't get too involved in battles,
07:56but she is quite active as one of the playable characters in Hyrule Warriors.
08:02Her signature weapon is a rapier.
08:05With a fast and fierce combo attack, she can easily plow through monsters.
08:09But she can also create arrows of light to take down distant enemies.
08:16Impa often appears as a close advisor to Princess Zelda in the core series.
08:23Her character is designed as a Sheikah soldier, with a bit of Japanese flair.
08:28Her weapon is a massively powerful blade with a wide attack range.
08:32And she acts and talks, much like a samurai.
08:38Next up, another character familiar to Zelda fans, Sheik.
08:42Much like Impa, she's a remaining survivor of the Sheikah.
08:46And we designed her in the image of a ninja.
08:48Of course, her true form is.
08:51Well, there might be some of you who don't know,
08:53so we'll let those players try Hyrule Warriors and see for themselves.
08:58Using her harp and martial arts, she's a speedy fighter in battle.
09:06In Hyrule Warriors, we also have more special appearances by characters from three beloved Zelda games.
09:12Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.
09:18First up is Ocarina of Time.
09:21Here's Darunia, leader of the Gorons.
09:24He swings around his giant hammer with ease,
09:26and uses brute force to knock back waves of enemies.
09:30It's a perfect fit for his dynamic personality.
09:33And if you get him in the right mood, he'll bust out some fun dance moves too.
09:38Next we have Princess Ruto.
09:41She's also from Ocarina of Time.
09:44She can change the ground into water to attack enemies, or to travel from place to place.
09:51Her fighting style keeps opponents at a distance, and it's the perfect match for a Zora princess.
09:58From Twilight Princess, Midna and Agatha join the battle.
10:02Here's the Twilight Princess herself, Midna.
10:06Just as before, it looks like her true form has been changed by someone's spell.
10:12She can use her hair to grab and throw enemies, or to create a fist and punch them.
10:22Now for Agatha, the self-proclaimed princess of the insect kingdom.
10:26She uses her parasol as a weapon, and also dynamically attacks enemies using the power of her favorite insects.
10:36Additionally, even the boss character Zant from Twilight Princess is playable in this game.
10:41He swings around the scimitars on his hands, summons various things, and can grow to an enormous size during battle.
10:49Tricky moves are definitely Zant's specialty.
10:53Next, Skyward Sword.
10:57Fai fought alongside Link as the spirit living inside his sword.
11:03Fai moves fluidly like she's dancing, and she can transform herself into a sword to attack enemies.
11:10Her mysterious manner of speaking is present in this title as well.
11:16Demon Lord Ghirahim, who relentlessly pursued Link in Skyward Sword, also appears.
11:22He's not just one of the enemies though, he's a playable character too.
11:28Just like in Skyward Sword, he will lead you around by the nose with a variety of sword attacks.
11:34Expect him to go all out during battle as well.
11:39In addition to characters returning from past Zelda games, what about new characters that are unique to Hyrule Warriors?
11:50This is the Sorceress of Light, Lana, who takes to the battlefield for a book of sorcery.
11:57She happens to be one of the key characters in the story, and she always fights with all her might.
12:06She can create magic walls, and then push them, pinch foes with them, or destroy them to attack enemies.
12:24Okay, next up, grass cutting.
12:27I wouldn't say that cutting grass is the foundation of Zelda, but we all know it's something you definitely try
12:33out when you first acquire a sword.
12:36Cutting grass is not just some simple action you do to while away the time though.
12:40Sometimes you may find hearts, rupees, or even something that makes you wonder, how'd that get in there?
12:46Worry not, you can cut grass in Hyrule Warriors too.
12:50I hear that they even considered adding a stage where all you do is chop up grass, but unfortunately that
12:55didn't make the cut.
13:02As you advance the story, some characters will unlock new weapons.
13:09For example, the fire rod for Link.
13:16The wind waker for Zelda.
13:21And a spear with the power of a Deku tree for Lana.
13:27With different weapons, you can enjoy completely different actions.
13:30So try them all out and find your favorite one.
13:36Here's an example.
13:44Each warrior has character specific special attacks.
13:49Using these special attacks will let you defeat a large number of enemies at once.
13:54In this title, we also added a new system called Focus Spirit.
14:01Fill your magic gauge and release it to use Focus Spirit.
14:04This will temporarily increase your character's abilities.
14:08So try to use it at key moments in battle, along with the right special attacks.
14:21Next, let's talk about bomb chews.
14:24A bomb chew is a type of mouse-shaped bomb that moves forward automatically.
14:29In Ocarina of Time, there was a bowling-like minigame using this item.
14:36In Hyrule Warriors, bomb chews now look like this.
14:39They're huge.
14:40No longer mouse-sized.
14:42They're more like giant capybara.
14:44With giant explosions to match.
14:46Back in a bit.
14:56It's not just the characters that are different from those in the core Zelda series.
15:01Since we created this unique game based on the Legend of Zelda franchise,
15:04the locations used in each battle are inspired by locales that will be familiar to all Legend of Zelda fans.
15:14Here's Skyloft from Skyward Sword.
15:28Lake Hylia from Ocarina of Time.
15:32Lake Hylia from Ocarina of Time.
15:47And Twilight Field, from Twilight Princess.
16:01There are more stages inspired by the Zelda universe, mainly from these three titles.
16:07We hope you will enjoy them all.
16:14Next we have Chain Chomp.
16:17Originally, Chain Chomp was a character from the Mario universe, but somehow he made a
16:22guest appearance in a 2D Zelda game.
16:24I hear it started because Mr. Tezuka, who was working on Mario games back then as well,
16:29jokingly put one in a Zelda game.
16:34This is Chain Chomp in Hyrule Warriors.
16:36Looks like he's now a weapon.
16:39Ouch!
16:48Characters level up as you use them in battle.
16:54Each character starts with certain stats.
16:57And by defeating more enemies and gaining experience, they can level up.
17:06When you defeat certain monsters, they might drop various materials.
17:14Using these materials, you can craft different types of badges that will enhance the warrior's
17:19stats.
17:21There are many types of enhancements.
17:24They can increase a weapon's number of attacks, create longer combos, extend focus spirit time,
17:30increase the number of times you can use special attacks and potions, and so on.
17:38By leveling up and creating badges, you can greatly enhance a character's stats.
17:46Sometimes, you may acquire new weapons during battle.
17:53Some of them may have special abilities called skills.
17:59There are several varieties of skills.
18:01Some of them increase attack damage, or perhaps increase the chance of finding hearts.
18:08When there is an empty skill slot, you can fuse the weapon with another one to increase
18:13the weapon's skills.
18:19The harder to battle, the higher the chance of enemies dropping better weapons.
18:23So try battling and fusing to create your own ultra-powerful weapons.
18:36Next up, we have the moon from The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask.
18:42In Majora's Mask, once the moon hits the ground, it's game over.
18:47It made for a very tense atmosphere for the player.
18:50In Hyrule Warriors, the moon works like this.
18:54Use a hookshot on the moon and…
18:57Ha!
18:57It never occurred to me to use the moon like that.
19:08Alright.
19:09Now I have another exciting mode I'd like to talk about.
19:13Please, take a look.
19:15Please, take a look.
19:21This looks like a screen from a classic Zelda game.
19:25However, what you're actually looking at is an all-new adventure mode.
19:30It's a unique experience that combines the items of Zelda with the gameplay of Hyrule Warriors
19:35in a new way.
19:38What you see now is the map in Adventure Mode.
19:42Every block on the grid represents one stage with its own unique victory condition.
19:52Once the battle starts, you'll be transported to the world of Hyrule Warriors.
20:02After you've fulfilled a victory condition, the grid next to the stage will be unlocked and
20:07and you can move forward.
20:11In some of the maps, you can select the command Search.
20:18Using the exploration items you collect on the map, you can find hidden items.
20:24This is a bit similar to classic Zelda games.
20:28If you are successful at exploring, hard-to-find items like new weapons and heart pieces will
20:34sometimes appear as rare victory prizes.
20:39Find treasure through exploration, then battle to retrieve it.
20:44As you advance in Adventure Mode, you can also unlock new playable characters,
20:49and some weapons only available in this mode.
20:52So, please try it out.
21:00Next we have…
21:03Wait, I think I can hear something.
21:07Ah, it's a gold Sculptula.
21:12Long-time players will remember these guides from their collections.
21:15And the more you find, the more items you get.
21:18Of course, they are always hiding in odd places that make you say,
21:22Hey, why are you hiding there?
21:24Finding them is always a challenge.
21:28Of course, they are hiding in Hyrule Warriors as well.
21:32Do you hear that?
21:34It's coming from the direction of a gold Sculptula, so you can find it by following the sound.
21:40Okay, see you in a sec.
21:47In Hyrule Warriors, just like in previous Dynasty Warriors titles,
21:51you can enjoy a two-player co-op mode with your family and friends.
21:59However, since we have the Wii U gamepad, instead of splitting the TV screen,
22:04we made it so each player can have his or her own screen, the TV monitor, or the gamepad screen.
22:13This might be a little technical, but in two-player mode, in order to process both screens simultaneously,
22:20the screen resolution is reduced slightly compared to when you're playing in single-player mode.
22:29That said, just like when you're playing by yourself, we made sure the gameplay is as exciting and fun as
22:34it is in single-player.
22:38Of course, when you're playing single-player, off-TV mode is also available.
22:47Hyrule Warriors is a collaboration title between The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors.
22:53But at the same time, it's a fun spin-off Zelda title, so we made sure to add many fan
22:59-favorite elements.
23:03Hyrule Warriors will be released on September 19th in Europe.
23:07On the same day, we'll also release this Hyrule Warriors limited edition,
23:10which comes with a unique scarf collector's item.
23:15That's it for today's presentation.
23:18Thank you for watching.
23:26For a final bit, we're showing off a character you simply cannot forget to mention when discussing Zelda games.
23:33Thank you all for watching.
23:52Thank you.
23:52Ahahahahha!
24:41Ahahahahha!
24:52Oh no.
25:41Grazie a tutti.
25:56Grazie a tutti.
