00:10Tim...
00:11We need you to do the Kickstarter.
00:12No way! My time is 100% broken age until it's done.
00:15Tim, there are multiple teams here at Double Fine.
00:18The Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter only funded one of them.
00:23Look, guys, Kickstarter was great,
00:25but times have changed since then.
00:27People are seeing now a whole bunch of old timers like me,
00:30coming out of the woodwork, reviving old genres.
00:32I think they're probably sick of it.
00:33Well, what if we got someone else to do it?
00:36With a brand new idea.
00:39What are we saying?
00:40Yeah, there's nobody that could do that.
00:42Well, there is one guy.
00:46Who?
00:48You don't mean...
00:49Yes. It's our only option.
00:52You heartless bastard.
00:55Isn't he...
00:56He's resting.
01:20He's had a hard year.
01:23But the only man I trust for the job...
01:25Brad Muir.
01:37I think he looks pretty good, considering.
01:42Do you want to bring back Iron Brigade?
01:43I would, but they took the IP away.
01:47Monsters.
01:48So what?
01:49Do you want to kickstart Brazen?
01:55Don't...
01:56Don't say that name in here.
01:58Brad pitched Brazen for an entire year.
02:00It didn't...
02:01It didn't go very well.
02:03Uh...
02:04Yeah, so that's...
02:05That's Brazen.
02:06What do you think?
02:09Uh...
02:10What...
02:10What was that?
02:13Yeah, I...
02:14I couldn't...
02:14I couldn't hear you...
02:25Very creative.
02:28Too much baggage.
02:30Damn it.
02:32Hmm.
02:32These brain scans seem to indicate...
02:34He's actually forming...
02:35A new idea.
02:37These readings are on the chart.
02:44Hmm...
02:45Massive...
02:46Chalice.
02:47That sounds incredible.
02:50It's still pretty early on, but our tests indicate that it's pretty amazing.
02:54Wow, in a few months this would be ready to...
02:56No.
02:56Take it out now.
02:57What?
02:58No, it's too early.
03:00Look at it.
03:03It's beautiful.
03:05At the rate it's growing, that thing's gonna explode.
03:08We need to let it loose.
03:12I think it's ready.
03:15But is he ready?
03:16If this goes wrong, it could kill him.
03:19I'm willing to take that chance.
03:20Cut the pain medication, get him some makeup, and shave that beard.
03:35Are you sure this is gonna work?
03:37Sounds ready.
03:38Rolling.
03:39Maybe we didn't give him enough electroshock.
03:41Maybe we gave him too much.
03:49Massive Chalice.
03:50Hey, I'm Brad Muir.
03:52I was a programmer on Psychonauts, a designer on Brutal Legend, and the creator and project leader of Iron Brigade.
03:57Now I've got a brand new idea that I'm super excited about.
04:01I'm especially excited about taking this idea not to publishers or anybody else, but straight to you, the players.
04:06Marker.
04:10Massive Chalice is tactical fantasy on an epic timeline.
04:14You play an immortal king defending his realm from a demonic invasion that has been prophesized to last hundreds of
04:19years.
04:19You control heroes in tactical combat as you would in XCOM or Final Fantasy Tactics, as well as the guidance
04:25of the kingdom across generations.
04:27Since this war will outlast your strongest warriors, you have to nurture heroic bloodlines and strategize for several generations of
04:34combat.
04:35Your choices matter.
04:36Do you keep your best hero out on the battlefield to fight the demons of today, or do you retire
04:40him to sire children, passing on his experience to the next generation?
04:44Heroes age over the course of the epic timeline, and eventually, they die.
04:48But it's not the end of the world. We're designing the game with permadeath in mind.
04:52When heroes die, they leave behind a relic which can be equipped by members of the same bloodline, making them
04:57even more powerful than their ancestors.
05:00Unite the bloodlines with strategy, defend the realm with tactics, reforge the Massive Chalice, and win victory for your kingdom
05:07for generations to come.
05:09So this is a big risk for us. Massive Chalice isn't an established game brand with a built-in following.
05:15And I'm not a camera-ready sex god like Tim Schafer.
05:18Uh, the script says golden sex god.
05:21But I think that's what makes it perfect for Kickstarter, a place where new ideas can get a chance, thanks
05:25to you, the backers.
05:27I hope you like the sounds of a brand new tactical fantasy game from Double Fine, and I hope you'll
05:31back Massive Chalice.
05:35And... cut.
05:37He did it!
05:40How's he doing?
05:42Not good. That took a lot out of him.
05:44Will he make it?
05:45I think... I think that's up to you.
