00:04Hello, you've caught me contemplating the nature of power.
00:08Can we do the contemplate-y effect, please?
00:13Some people believe influences power.
00:16Cue skit of Dave being influenced.
00:33Some believe that money is power, and they've got to point money is what compels me to sit
00:38on this sofa and recycle the same jokes week in, week out.
00:42Pants.
00:43Dr Pepper.
00:44Metal Gear.
00:47VARUS from Game of Thrones said in one of those dramatic, trailer-friendly bits of dialogue
00:52that power resides where men believe it resides.
00:55Well, VARUS, I believe that power resides in here, the PS4, and I've written a list of
01:01eight games that will prove it to you.
01:03We'll start with Uncharted 4, A Thief's End, which you might think is the list feature equivalent
01:08of stuffing your face full of AAA ice cream before you even sniffed the indie salad starter,
01:13but indulge me, will you?
01:15I've not seen this footage of Nathan Drake's exquisitely sweaty face for at least three
01:20days, and I have to get my fix.
01:22Whoa, look at his paws.
01:27Now that's out of the way, I can tell you about all the new stuff and how it makes Uncharted
01:314 one of the most exciting PS4 exclusives of 2015.
01:35There's a bunch of brand new animations allowing Drake to climb smoother, fight better and get
01:41wetter when smacking a man under a waterfall, combat takes place in larger, more open areas
01:46so you can use stealth and environmental takedowns to much greater effect, and it features Troy
01:52Baker and Nolan North squeezed together for the very first time into a sexy voice actor sandwich.
02:00Mmm, this isn't actually a sexy voice actor sandwich, it's a Big Mac, I'm just using
02:08it for illustrative purposes.
02:12F*** Metal Gear, how many's that Dave?
02:16Well, get used to it, because as well as containing ultra-rare trophies, a villain we secretly
02:21like, sneaky easter eggs, epic intro, shocking endings, moments that will make you cry, amazing
02:25set pieces, tough platinum trophies, bosses we didn't want to kill, an awkward love scene, a PlayStation
02:28icon, and the gutting betrayal.
02:30Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain also gets on this list as a massive game that proves
02:36the power of PS4.
02:38We've already had Ground Zeroes running at a sumptuous 60 frames per second and in 1080p,
02:44and now the open world main event is on the way, and it's going to be approximately 200 times
02:50the size.
02:51I know cosmic figures like that are difficult to comprehend, so let's do one of those visual
02:57metaphors like they do in the Brian Cox science documentaries.
03:01I've come here to space to explain to Rob about scale and balls, because if Ground Zeroes was
03:09one tennis ball, then the Phantom Pain would be 200 tennis balls.
03:15And that's why I love PS4.
03:19Back in 2013, Tearaway was the game that made everyone sit up and say, oh my god, the PlayStation
03:25Vita can do that?
03:27And this year, Tearaway Unfolded looks set to do exactly the same thing on PS4.
03:32This isn't a remake or a sequel, more a reimagining of the original with all new features that'll
03:38turn your DualShock 4 into a do-everything wow machine.
03:42And when I say everything, I mean at least these three things from the Tearaway Unfolded
03:47trailer, which are making wind on the touchpad,
03:53sucking little papercraft animals inside the DualShock 4 just like the robots from Playroom,
04:01and using the DualShock 4's light bar to illuminate gloomy areas for your little papery protagonist.
04:07Unfolded also encourages you to make lovely papercraft decorations like these butterfly
04:12wings, which is just nice, isn't it?
04:15Being asked to create something for a change.
04:18Let's kill some giant cow things in a field.
04:21It's Final Fantasy XV with its men in black shirts, obscenely pretty weather effects, and
04:27roads.
04:28Roads?
04:29Said everyone.
04:30What is all this about roads?
04:31If I wanted roads, I'd just go outside on a road.
04:35This is Final Fantasy, not Final Roads.
04:39And then we all calmed down and saw what a behemoth looks like on PS4, and realised that
04:44Square Enix probably knows what it's doing, seeing as how it's been making excellent games
04:49called Final Fantasy since 1987, and also how this is already the most beautiful role-playing
04:55game we've ever seen, and that's just a frog.
05:00The change in direction for the series is what excites us most.
05:03Combat is a dizzying mix of real-time action and teleporting up the side of skyscrapers.
05:09It looks better than CG spin-off movie Advent Children, for goodness sake, plus the setting
05:13fuses concrete reality with… well, with that.
05:17It's a world that's huge and open, and despite the departures from tradition, still contains
05:23that indescribable Final Fantasy spark.
05:27And roads.
05:28I'm on last minute now, there is one jacuzzi villa left, but it's kind of like separated
05:34from all the main ones.
05:35Yeah, it's in the wood.
05:37Yeah, it's got loads of other stuff, a bed and a ceiling, and it's got a Ouija board.
05:44Have you got Channel 4 on, there's an advert on for it, right now.
05:47Use up some scary trees, ignore the psycho downstairs, there's cabin, there's cabin,
05:57there's cabin week.
05:58To book your holiday at Killer's Cabin, call 666-die-die-die-now.
06:01Shall I book it?
06:02Who the chuffing hell decides to go and stay in that?
06:06Well, let's not be too angry.
06:07If it wasn't for idiotically curious groups of fictional teenagers, we wouldn't get games
06:12like Until Dawn, PS4's upcoming horror adventure starring Hayden Panettiere and lots of sharp
06:19objects.
06:19The best bit is that the outcome of the story is entirely dependent on how you play it.
06:24Everyone could survive, boring, or everyone could die, excellent.
06:30With eerily lifelike performance capture and a strong story, we reckon Until Dawn is just
06:36begging to be Let's Played, don't you think so, Dave?
06:43Oh, tickle my hack and slasher, look at the graphics on that.
06:47This must be an enormous AAA action title heading to PS4, yes?
06:52Almost.
06:53It's an enormous independent action title heading to PS4 and it's called Hellblade.
06:59Don't make a face just because I said the I word.
07:02Hellblade is being cooked up by Ninja Theory, the team behind underappreciated action-adventure
07:08classic enslaved Odyssey to the west and the recent and brilliant DMC Devil May Cry.
07:13We even went to the studio so we could film lots of complicated computer things we don't
07:18really understand, but they work really well when it comes to showing off how good the game
07:22is looking.
07:23So, ta-da!
07:24There's Hellblade being made right in front of you.
07:28They're doing new things with facial animation, meaning that skin now stretches and wrinkles
07:33realistically depending on a character's facial expression, the idea being they now look
07:38like actual humans rather than Botox eggs with faces drawn on.
07:42This is what Happy used to look like in games, after Hellblade is going to look more like
07:48this.
07:50Our next title is Wild, a game with loads of animals in-
07:54Oh, hello!
07:56If it isn't my new friend Delsin Rodent, a badger-
08:00What?
08:01Yeah, I know technically badgers aren't rodents, but can you think of a better pun than that?
08:07No, I didn't think you could.
08:08What do you want anyway?
08:10What do you want anyway?
08:10You want to see if there are any badgers in wild?
08:13Right, let's have a look then.
08:15Well, Delsin, it's got a boar, and some wolves, and a creepy skeleton thing, and some fish,
08:24and a big fish, and what the hell?
08:34What the bloody hell?
08:36But then why does it need to make any sense when it's as beautiful and soaringly original
08:41as this?
08:42Get me on the back of that eagle!
08:46Although, sadly.
08:47Oh, Delsin, I'm sorry man, it doesn't look like there are any badgers in wild.
08:51Still looks good though, doesn't it?
08:56Oh dear.
08:58Finally, we've got No Man's Sky, a timed PS4 exclusive that, unless you haven't been
09:03paying any attention over the last year, you already know all about.
09:07But let's just go over it one more time, because it's really fun.
09:11You've got a spaceship, there are dinosaurs, and it takes place in a procedurally generated
09:16universe so mind-frazzlingly enormous it would take you until the heat death of our actual
09:21universe to fully explore it all.
09:24How on earth do you make sense of that?
09:26I think I can help here.
09:28If you want to know how big No Man's Sky is, you've got to think in tennis balls.
09:34There are over 18 sextillion planets in No Man's Sky.
09:38Which means that if Ground Zeroes is one tennis ball, then No Man's Sky is a billion, billion, billion, billion,
09:48billion, billion, billion, billion, billion, and 74.
09:56Thanks Brian, that was illuminating, and thank you for watching.
10:00Let us know which of these games you're most excited about in the comments, and don't forget
10:04to subscribe for more of these list features from now until the heat death of YouTube servers every Friday.
