00:36Normally, in Animal Crossing games, you have to play as the villager, right?
00:40Not this one. You can play as Isabel.

00:43Oh, I've got Nook, which kind of makes me feel like I've already won the game.
00:47And I'm glad, like, over there, they were all behind this case,
00:50so now I can actually hold him, but he's such a boss.

04:17month of June and as you can see it's absolutely gorgeous in our Animal
04:20Crossing village but if you're playing say in the month of December you're
04:23probably gonna see some snow and other things that indicate that month of
04:27season and I'm looking forward to the end of June because of course one of my
04:32favorite events in the Animal Crossing and world is the bug off so that's
04:37something that's gonna appear late in the month of June and we're gonna actually
04:40get to play that event
04:42thank you good job KK now KK got some happy points because he caught a really
04:48fantastic fish at the end of the game whoever has the most happy points win
04:54now happiness isn't everything I'm sure it's Tom Nook will tell you so you need
04:58some bells as well and those will be converted to happy points
05:03aww I get to hang out with my friend and set up a telescope that is cool
05:07that made me happy
05:08let's see what I get here

05:15so um KK one of the things I think is really interesting about this game is
05:18how much is possible to customize the board besides picking a month there's so
05:22much else you can do here to really like and make it the the animal crossing

06:35some of our favorite animals, it looks like Katie

06:39We're not playing as her or anything,
06:41but she likes to collect cards, and
06:43she's going to have some event spaces.
06:45So for the next day, if we land on
06:47one of Katie's event spaces, we
06:49get to have a super special interaction
06:51with her. So come on,
06:53let's see if we can get onto one of those green spaces.

07:43because of the roll of the die.
07:45But things like this are going to add a little more skill
07:47to the game.
07:48So now I'm going to be able to pick
07:50this card if I want to move
07:52only one space to land on, say,
07:54a space that has what I want.
07:55but lots of bells,
07:57lots of happiness.
07:59So there's also some really interesting
08:01interaction here between this game
08:03and another game that we've been talking about recently,
08:06Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer.

08:10about how those two games are going to work together here?

09:49She will soon.
09:50But she couldn't read and this is going to give me a chance to actually start introducing these characters to
09:55her
09:55and having a game that she can play along with me, with the entire family.
10:00And we can talk about the Animal Crossing world because otherwise, yeah, it is a solitary game unless you're going
10:05to visit one of your friends.
10:06But I love that we can all sit down here and talk about our favorite characters, who we want to
10:11play as.

12:21So you can earn bells this way,
12:24and of course at the end of the game
12:25those bells can be converted into happy points.
12:27So, ooh, Tom Nook, you don't have enough bells to buy.

12:31That's hilarious.
12:33I'm going to buy a bunch.
12:34I have not been doing well today.
12:34I'm going to buy like as many as I can,
12:36because I think that is how I'm going to win this game.
12:41So folks who have played a lot of Animal Crossing,
12:43you're familiar with the stock market.
12:45It's back.
12:47Not that I'll get to partake this time around,
12:49but that's all right.
12:49So you were the director on Animal Crossing New Leaf,
12:53so you spent so much time with all these characters working on that game.
12:57What was it like working all of those characters into this game
13:00with all the little visits that folks do over the course of the months as you're playing?
13:19This is an extra very bad day here.
13:21I have my role as försöker

13:25I don't know a lot of things talk about what we can do but not far.
13:41They are mostly trying to share these people in just 한 three of them,

14:42Now, this, I'm actually going to hold up because that turnip price is actually a little low.
14:46Oh, so, can you talk us a little bit?
14:47We should probably talk about the gyroids on the corner of the board
14:51because we just saw one of those, and they play kind of an interesting role in this game.

15:40So, as you just saw, you actually get a stamp or a portion of a stamp when you reach a
15:45Lloyd there.
15:46And once you collect all four from all the four Lloyds in the corners, you actually get a bonus in
15:52happy points.
15:52So, it becomes a pretty important strategy to make your way across the all four corners of the map.

16:04I didn't even realize, Joan, I think she took pity on me.
16:06She gave me a few turnips to start.

16:22I love how festive his little spot looks, too, with the balloons and everything.

16:26Now, I don't know if you guys recognized the character on that stamp, but we've got her and me both

16:41So, Kiboka-san, with all the time you've spent working on Animal Crossing, do you have a favorite character?
16:46Oh, yeah.

16:48Well, I think it's been a long time for the animals, but do you have a favorite character in Hyogoku?
16:55Do you have a favorite character in Hyogoku, but it's very difficult to find out.
16:58I really like any animals.
17:01Of course, I like Shizu and Isabelle and Tom Nook, but now I'm working on KK Slider, so I support

17:11So, I actually get asked that a lot, and it's so hard because every character is so cute and has
17:16their own
17:16distinct personality.
17:18And, you know, I love characters like Isabelle or Tom Nook, but, you know, since I'm playing
17:22with KK Slider now, I'm just going to cheer him on right now.

17:26I do love his design here.
17:29Now, Sam, I would ask you who your favorite Animal Crossing character is, but when we were
17:35starting up this segment, you pretty much grabbed Tom Nook.
17:38Well, he's my favorite of the characters that we have Amiibo for.
17:41I really like Tom Nook, but my favorite character of all time is Lopez.
17:45Oh, nice.
17:45He's this one awesome little deer.
17:48I love him so much.
17:49And I was actually really sad when I was playing New Leaf.
17:52Lopez moved into my town, and it was like, yes, I've got my ideal villager.
17:57But I lost him.
17:59I didn't play for long enough, and he moved away, and now I'm just hoping, like, if I make
18:03the most beautiful town, Lopez will come back to me.
18:06So we'll see.
18:08And then Happy Home Designer, I'm going to give him a good job and a good house, so he'll
18:12stay put.
18:13Yeah, right, you can force him to stay in your town.
18:15You're like, you can't move out.
18:17I'm in charge here.

18:28So what other challenges did you come across when you were working on this game, figuring out
