Sometimes the biggest surprise is the one staring back.
In the United States, a cat pads up to a mirror and locks eyes with its own image.
It pauses, studying the face on the other side, as if trying to figure out what it is seeing.
The moment turns playful and tense at once as the cat shifts closer, then reacts like it has found a challenger.
It tries to defend itself against the reflection, still focused on the mirror.
By the end, it is a funny standoff with nothing more than glass, light, and one very puzzled cat.
