00:00calendar i would agree i i would put master's weekend up there but i was accused of being old
00:06because i like watching golf on television earlier so super bowl certainly what uh what
00:11else do you have there but you got the full day yesterday i think that's it curtis well today
00:16you get the same number of games so thursday friday are the best for me for the tournament
00:20i don't like i mean i'll watch the games as they go along but by the time you get to
00:24the elite
00:25eight there's only two games and they're both standalone the fun to me is like the back and
00:28forth to different games seeing buzzer beaters seeing close games i love when teams like duke
00:33get down early like the stress and anxiety that was what a six point lead for c on a deep
00:38into the
00:39second half yeah which would have been spectacular do you still root against duke without coach k or
00:43is that like luster gone i think that luster is kind of gone yeah yeah i mean i haven't rooted
00:48against duke since like i think the the early 90s teams bobby hurley and christian leitner that was
00:54like the the really hatred time of that right against the fab five yeah so and then it kind of
00:59like you know kind of waned yeah for me the first nfl game weekend of the season is awesome just
01:04to see
01:04everything back out there opening day yeah i would probably put this ahead of opening day you would
01:10yeah fab five is a good 30 for 30 i don't know if you've seen that one or not i
01:16don't know if there
01:16is another collection of college athletes that did more to change the sports world than the fab five
01:22they revealed all these like culture issues with how people perceive these guys they had the the
01:28whole like the the the basketball short was no longer short yeah it took away and you left the
01:35larry bird magic johnson short short era i mean we wore we wore our our black sneakers in high school
01:42i
01:42remember because of the fab five the black sneakers with the low tops with the uh ankle socks so you
01:49kind of what they did in the fab five so you know that trend began yeah they definitely was
01:54some culture setter so i'm trying to start the uh the trend of the new balance white sneakers
02:00uh for the olds my favorite thing about the twitch chat i just said that about the fab five
02:05pump veto agree curtis so beyond basketball what they did clap back literally the next one what
02:10curtis you're so hyperbolic
02:14that guy that guy says i'm unhappy and he sits there complaining the whole time
02:18like go outside go on a nature walk it's because that's what maybe ruined you know college basketball
02:25because now kids were going to school for one year and they were going straight to the nba or some
02:29kids
02:30you know weren't even going to to college they were going straight from high school so i think
02:35that when they when the nba changed it to be 18 plus draft wise or whatever that changed that's what
02:41really probably changed it more for me than anything because you don't see those you know those teams
02:46no more and you know you kind of and then you just lose now like i was interested to see
02:52what the kid
02:53aj uh the the bonster was going to do this year because you heard his name but he's probably one
03:00and
03:00done yeah i mean you go back to when i was really into college basketball in the early 2000s you
03:05had like
03:06god sham god at providence you had scooney pen you had these guys that you watched
03:10that competed in the big east against each other and created these rivalries you knew the coaches
03:15you knew the fans and they weren't one and done though no no that's what i'm saying that's what
03:19it was like i remember going to bc providence at the dunk in providence basketball was awesome
03:25one of the great environments i've ever been a part of like it's just gone i mean we really boston
03:30college is a big reason why because we suck we've sucked for so bad that it's the biggest team in
03:35town
03:36for college basketball and it's just been not only bad it's just like it's irrelevant
03:40billy curly got any kids that might be going to go back to point shaving over there curtis
03:46oh that's the 70s let's get fresh and we could because bruce pearl was a part of that he could
03:50be the next head coach but i think that's what it was for me greg is the the nba rule
03:55and i don't
03:56knock those kids for you know if they're talented enough to bypass college or anything like that but
04:01you know that kind of took away from you know these teams building you know uh like players
04:09out throughout their three or four years in college well 14 000 brackets somehow still alive
04:15and i don't know how many have uh high point advancing tomorrow night um i think john calipari
04:25and uh those guys will have something to say about i will be wagering a ton of money on arkansas
04:30you
04:30can act appropriately from there fade or follow however you see they were up by a hundred at
04:35half at halftime yesterday arkansas is awesome that team is so good they were crushing hawaii and they
04:41were like two of 13 from three at halftime didn't matter is there going to be a next generation of
04:46coaches because it's still calipari patino like tom iso i know wild yeah those guys that i mean you
04:53said that the other day were you saying that you think there would be more interest if there were
04:57younger coaches like no no i'm saying that like to me the biggest stars of the tournament are the
05:01coaches they're the only guys i know from year to year well especially like a guy like uh calipari
05:05he's been able to do it at multiple schools like some of those codes like iso's been at michigan
05:10state forever right right and you start to see like how they're able to adjust and uh evolve with the
05:18new college basketball game they were successful you know they were successful back in the days and
05:23you know some of these guys are still successful now and which is it's really cool you know it's
05:28cool and interesting to see like rick patino i mean rick patino um and st john's you know like how
05:34he was been able to turn like you know it was a good program they fell off and then he
05:38kind of turns
05:38it around and he you know and he's always does he ever guest lecture when it comes to the uh
05:44restaurant
05:45etiquette of course at high point yeah always be brief
05:50oh man by the way sienna which is where rick patino was before st john's almost beat duke
05:56you're like almost it's wild
05:58yeah
05:58yeah
