00:00In Yandere Simulator, the player can join clubs. Joining a club grants benefits to the player.
00:08In this video, I will describe all of the benefits granted by the school's clubs.
00:13Please remember that, between now and the release of the final game,
00:18any one of the benefits featured in this video may be adjusted to be stronger or weaker,
00:23or may be replaced with a completely different type of benefit.
00:27The first benefit I'm going to describe may sound strange, but just give me a chance, and I'll explain how
00:34it can be useful to you.
00:37The cooking club benefit is the ability to prepare a plate of snacks.
00:41This will allow you to hand out food to people. Handing out food increases your reputation.
00:47Giving people free food may be the fastest possible way to boost your reputation.
00:52Having a low reputation creates a lot of problems for the player.
00:57Students will automatically be suspicious of you and won't let their guard down around you if you have a low
01:02reputation,
01:03meaning that it will be harder to trespass, steal, or commit murder.
01:07Students won't offer you tasks if you have a low reputation, meaning that it's impossible to make friends with a
01:13low reputation.
01:15Compliments and apologies mean less when you have a low reputation, meaning that it's very difficult to repair your reputation
01:22once it's gotten low.
01:23Some of the methods for eliminating your rivals require you to gain someone's trust, and nobody will trust you with
01:30a low reputation,
01:32meaning that some elimination methods will be unavailable if your reputation is too low.
01:36And, of course, if your reputation drops too low, Senpai will hear about what a terrible person you are, and
01:44you'll get a game over.
01:46You might think that handing out snacks isn't a very impressive benefit,
01:50but once reputation begins to affect nearly every aspect of gameplay,
01:55you'll come to realize just how useful the cooking club's benefit can be.
01:59The drama club benefit is the ability to access gloves and masks.
02:04Wearing gloves prevents your fingerprints from getting onto any weapons that you use for murder,
02:08and allows you to frame other students for murder if you kill someone using a weapon that another student has
02:14touched.
02:15Wearing a mask allows Yandere-chan to hide her face.
02:19With a mask over her face, nobody can identify her,
02:22so you won't lose any reputation points when you're spotted while bloody, armed, or insane.
02:28At this point in time, Yandere Simulator does not factor eyewitness testimony into police investigations.
02:35If I decide that the player can be arrested if an adequate number of students name Yandere-chan as the
02:40murderer,
02:41then wearing a mask will prevent eyewitnesses from reporting you to the police.
02:46Once a masked murderer has been spotted on school grounds,
02:50the headmaster will permanently ban masks from the school,
02:53meaning that you can only use this method to get away with murder one time before you lose the benefit
02:59of masks forever.
03:01If Senpai witnesses Yandere-chan bloody, armed, insane, or committing murder, the player will get a game over.
03:08However, if Yandere-chan is wearing a mask, Senpai cannot identify Yandere-chan, so a game over does not occur.
03:16It's supposed to be difficult to eliminate rivals because of how much time they spend around Senpai.
03:22However, if the player could use masks to commit murder right in front of Senpai's face without any consequence,
03:29this would mean that masks could be used to eliminate one rival from the game with no challenge.
03:34As a result, I think that Senpai should be the type of person who would run straight up to a
03:41masked killer and rip the mask right off their face.
03:45However, I lack the animations to implement this, so you'll just have to imagine it for now.
03:53The Occult Club has two benefits.
03:55Everyone who is in the Occult Club is considered weird but harmless.
04:01If you're in the Occult Club, other students will take longer to notice you when you're bloody, armed, or insane,
04:08because they generally just don't care about anyone who is in the Occult Club.
04:13The other benefit is that Yandere-chan will lose less sanity when committing murder.
04:18You may think that this is not a useful benefit, but it's actually very beneficial depending on how you intend
04:26to play the game.
04:28As explained in a previous video, your sanity is meant to determine the length of your attack animations.
04:34High sanity results in a 2-second attack animation, low sanity results in a 4-second attack animation,
04:41and no sanity results in a 6-second attack animation.
04:45If killing a student depletes 20% of your sanity, this means that you can only kill 2 students before
04:52being stuck with a 4-second attack animation,
04:55and 2 students later, you're stuck with a 6-second attack animation.
05:00If you're trying to chase down and kill every person who saw you commit murder,
05:04taking 6 seconds to murder a single student will really slow you down, and will allow your witnesses to get
05:10away.
05:11On the other hand, if you could reduce the amount of sanity lost when killing students, you could kill many
05:17more students much faster.
05:19If you use the panties that help you retain your sanity, and use the Occult Club benefit, you would lose
05:26no sanity when killing students.
05:28Let's use math to see the difference.
05:31If you are losing sanity with each kill, you could only kill 7 students within 30 seconds.
05:37If you are not losing sanity with each kill, you could kill 15 students within 30 seconds.
05:44You may not wish to play Yandere Simulator as a ruthless, merciless, bloodthirsty serial killer.
05:50However, if you do choose to play the game that way, the Occult Club is your best option,
05:56because it will allow you to keep moving quickly during a killing spree.
06:01The Art Club's benefit is the ability to wear a painter's smock.
06:06While wearing the painter's smock, you can run around covered in blood, and nobody will think you're suspicious,
06:12because they'll assume that it's just red paint.
06:15The Light Music Club benefit is the ability to access a cello case that will make it easier to transport
06:21body parts and large weapons without being considered suspicious.
06:25The Martial Arts Club benefit is the ability to instantly win physical confrontations.
06:31However, I may decide that this ability is too powerful.
06:35In the future, this club's benefit may simply be to make it easier to win physical confrontations,
06:41rather than automatically win all confrontations.
06:45The Photography Club benefit is the ability to take photographs of students' faces without being considered suspicious.
06:52Because taking photographs of students' faces and sending those photographs to Infochan will allow you to learn tons of information
07:00about those students,
07:01this is a very useful ability.
07:04As mentioned in a previous video, the members of the Photography Club are a team of junior detectives
07:10who will actively attempt to hunt down anyone who is causing trouble in their school.
07:15However, they have one blind spot.
07:18They trust each other so much that they could never fathom the idea that one of their own members is
07:25a serial killer.
07:26If you join the Photography Club, the club members will let their guard down around you, making it much easier
07:32to eliminate them.
07:35The Info Club...
07:37Well...
07:39We don't talk about the Info Club.
07:42Now, the Science Club is a very interesting one.
07:46Similarly to the Occult Club, everyone in the Science Club is a total weirdo.
07:51They're like a bunch of junior mad scientists.
07:54Their specialty is robotics.
07:57There's even a rumor that one of the members of the club is...
08:03Well...
08:03Only a fool would believe a rumor like that.
08:07Their goal is to build a military-grade powered exoskeleton armed with enough firepower to destroy...
08:14Oh, wait.
08:16That's not right.
08:17Their goal is to get noticed and hired by a prestigious company by inventing new technology while they're just high
08:24school students.
08:26To this end, they spend their time trying to invent useful robots.
08:31Their most recent invention is a cleaning robot that is designed to clean spilled liquid.
08:36If you join the Science Club, you will gain access to this robot.
08:41If you murder someone and then activate the robot, the robot will automatically seek out blood stains and suck up
08:47all of the spilled blood.
08:49This saves you the trouble of cleaning up blood with a mop.
08:52The robot's one weakness is that it cannot climb up stairs.
08:56So, if you wanted to clean up blood on a higher floor, you'll have to pick it up and carry
09:01it yourself.
09:02The robot can suck up a lot of blood before it becomes full.
09:05When it is full, you can empty it at a sink.
09:09The robot is just a prototype, so it might not always head straight for the blood stains that you want
09:15it to clean.
09:16The number displayed on top of the robot will tell you what floor it is currently trying to access.
09:22Floor 1, Floor 2, Floor 3, or the rooftop.
09:25The Sports Club's benefit is the ability to run faster and carry sports equipment anywhere without being considered suspicious.
09:32The Gardening Club's benefit is the ability to carry gardening equipment anywhere without being considered suspicious.
09:41Because the Gardening Club's benefit is functionally identical to the Sports Club's benefit but without the ability to run faster,
09:49I will probably give the Gardening Club another benefit in the future.
09:54It might have something to do with being able to bury dead bodies in the Gardening Club's garden.
10:01But I need to put some thought into it first.
10:03And with that, you are now aware of every single club in Yandere Si-
10:11Yandere Dev, Yandere Dev!
10:13Aren't you forgetting someone?
10:16Ugh, what is it now?
10:19The Gaming Club!
10:21Aren't you going to talk about us?
10:24Go on, tell us what kind of cool benefits a player gets for joining our club!
10:29Oh, that's right!
10:31You guys!
10:33I almost forgot!
10:36Um...
10:37I can't think of any way that a video game themed club could possibly benefit a serial killer in a
10:48high school.
10:49So...
10:50The player can't actually join your club.
10:53You guys are basically just a...
10:56Background decoration.
11:00Uh...
11:02Oh...
11:04Okay...
11:11Now, where was I?
11:13Oh yeah!
11:14A few weeks ago, I received an email.
11:17The email said,
11:19Dear Yandere Dev,
11:21The game is too hard.
11:22Please make it easier.
11:24I responded,
11:26Sorry.
11:27It's only going to get harder.
11:30The currently available version of the game is a debug sandbox for testing features,
11:35and should not be taken as an indication of the final game's quality.
11:39However, getting away with murder without any suspicion in Yandere Simulator should be just as challenging as achieving the best
11:47possible score in a Hitman game.
11:50In the final version of Yandere Simulator, the odds will be stacked against the player, and the purpose of clubs
11:56is to offer the player an advantage to even the odds.
11:59I don't know if you've realized this yet, but the point of every club is to trivialize some aspect of
12:07the game.
12:08The cooking club trivializes reputation.
12:11The drama club trivializes witnesses and fingerprints.
12:15The occult club trivializes sanity penalties.
12:19The art club trivializes bloodiness.
12:21The light music club trivializes the act of corpse disposal.
12:27The martial arts club trivializes physical confrontations.
12:31The photography club trivializes photography penalties.
12:35The science club trivializes blood stains.
12:38The sports and gardening clubs trivialize the act of carrying around large, suspicious weapons.
12:44The point of clubs is to take a feature of the game that you don't like and completely throw it
12:51out the window.
12:51Is reputation your least favorite part of the game?
12:54Join the cooking club.
12:56Is cleaning up blood your least favorite part of the game?
12:59Join the science club.
13:01Are you more interested in mass murder than in social sabotage?
13:05Join the occult club.
13:07The clubs are there so that you can play the game the way you want to.
13:11You might find that all of your strategies for disposing of rivals will revolve around the club you've chosen.
13:16You might even switch clubs once a week in order to target a specific weakness of your latest rival.
13:23In short, club benefits are supposed to be your most useful tools.
13:28And that's why I've been working on implementing clubs for the past few months.
13:32I'll probably have to spend some time balancing and adjusting each club benefit until every club is equally useful and
13:40appealing.
13:40But, for now, I feel satisfied with the current state of the clubs.
13:45So I'm ready to return to implementing new rival elimination methods.
13:50Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator.
14:02Oops. I'm a baka.
14:05Just as I was about to upload this video to YouTube, I realized that I forgot to mention a couple
14:11of things.
14:11I think it would be really cool if Yandere-chan could join the delinquent gang.
14:16Unlike the clubs, being a delinquent would have negative side effects.
14:20You could only join if your reputation was low, and you had gone through the trouble of befriending each and
14:26every delinquent in the gang.
14:28You would be kicked out of the gang if you let your reputation get too high.
14:32While in the gang, your reputation would drop every single day.
14:36Students would be naturally suspicious of you whenever you're around, and would not be willing to give you tasks or
14:42perform favors for you, unless you had befriended them before joining the group.
14:47Normally, being sent to the counselor's office will only result in a harsh reprimand.
14:52However, as long as you're a delinquent, being sent to the counselor's office would result in an automatic game over.
14:59To balance all of these negative side effects, the gang would grant you a powerful advantage of some sort.
15:05Perhaps, the ability to intimidate students in order to force them to do favors for you.
15:11Or, the ability to threaten students in order to make them too scared to report you or gossip about you
15:17for something you've done.
15:19I haven't decided exactly what the specifics will be, but I wanted to share the idea with you.
15:24The only other thing I wanted to mention is that it may be possible for Yandere-chan to join the
15:30student council.
15:31This would not grant you any benefits. Instead, it would only give you a bunch of new responsibilities.
15:38Failing in your responsibilities or misbehaving while in the student council would result in immediately being kicked out of the
15:46council.
15:47The only reason to join the student council is because it would be part of an elaborate scheme that would
15:54allow you to eliminate one of your rivals without any suspicion.
15:58And with that, now I'm really done talking about club benefits.
16:04Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator.
