00:00The President, we're doing —
00:01we're going to be speaking about it today.
00:03We've had tremendous support and relationship
00:06with Japan on everything.
00:08And I believe that, based on statements
00:11that were given to us yesterday —
00:13the day before yesterday —
00:14having to do with Japan,
00:16they are really stepping up to the plate.
00:19Yes.
00:31Unlike NATO.
00:33We don't need much. We don't need anything.
00:35I mean, honestly, we don't need anything from Japan
00:38or from anyone else.
00:39But I think it's appropriate that people step up.
00:42In the case of Japan,
00:43I hear they get more than 90 percent of their oil
00:46through the Strait.
00:49So that's a big reason to step up.
00:51I mean, we've demolished —
00:55that country is close to demolished.
00:57The only thing is the Strait.
00:58It's very hard.
00:59You could take two people,
01:00and they could drop little bombs in the water,
01:02and they're holding things up.
01:05We don't want that to happen.
01:07But honestly, Japan, China, Europe —
01:12parts of Europe —
01:12get a lot of their oil through the Strait.
01:14We get none, practically.
01:16We're less than 1 percent.
01:18We don't have to be any percent.
01:20We don't even —
01:20I think we do it just to be nice.
01:23But we — think of it.
01:25We don't use the Strait.
01:27We're defending the Strait for everybody else.
01:30And then, in the case of NATO,
01:33they don't want to help us defend the Strait,
01:35and they're the ones that need it.
01:37But now they're getting much nicer
01:39because they're seeing my attitude.
01:40They're getting much nicer.
01:41But as far as I'm concerned, it's too late.
01:45You know, the UK wants to send aircraft carriers now.
01:50And I said, I want the aircraft carriers before the war.
01:54I don't want them after the war is won.
01:56But we're doing this excursion,
01:58and when it's completed,
01:59we're going to have a much safer world.
02:01And the Prime Minister agrees with me on this.
02:04She considers it to be terrible what Iran did.
02:06I think every country does.
02:07Just about every country does.
02:09Iran is a serious threat to the world,
02:11to the Middle East and to the world.
02:14And everybody agrees with me.
02:15I think virtually every country agrees with me on that.
02:18So, I wanted to put out that fire.
02:22And I said, you know, if I do that,
02:24oil prices will go up,
02:25the economy will go down a little bit.
02:27I thought it would be worse.
02:29Much worse, actually.
02:30I thought there was a chance it could be much worse.
02:32It's not bad.
02:33And it's going to be over with pretty soon.
02:35We've obliterated the Navy.
02:37We've obliterated their just about everything
02:39there is to obliterate, including leadership.
02:42Their Navy is gone.
02:43Their Air Force is gone.
02:44Their anti-aircraft equipment is gone.
02:47We're flying wherever we want, Pete.
02:49We have nobody even shooting at us.
02:52They have, I mean, and as you know,
02:56their leadership is gone.
02:58Their leaders are gone.
02:59They picked new leaders, they're gone.
03:01They picked new leaders, they're gone.
03:03And now they're looking for new leaders again.
03:06We can take out the island anytime we want.
03:11I call it the little oil island that sits there,
03:14so totally unprotected.
03:15We've taken out everything but the pipes.
03:18We left the pipes because to rebuild the pipes
03:20would take years for, you know, for them to do.
03:25But we are, I would say, we are substantially ahead of schedule.
03:30And I had to do this.
03:31I call it an excursion.
03:33I had to take this little excursion and do something
03:37that no other President had the courage to do.
