The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has detected a herd of wild elephants roaming in the vicinity of the East-West Highway near Gerik.

00:16He said they carried out patrols and monitoring of the elephants at about 1am on Wednesday.
00:23This comes after video showing road users stopping their vehicles as elephants stood
00:28by the roadside on the highway went viral on social media.
00:33He said the elephants, including calves, were driven back into the forest to prevent any
00:38untoward incidents.
00:39He advised road users to be careful and take necessary precautions when encountering wild
00:45animals.
00:47He urged them not to honk or use high beams so that the elephants will not be provoked.
00:53He said road users should stay inside their vehicles and wait for the elephants to cross
00:59themselves before continuing their journey.
