A critically endangered whose foot was saved from amputation thanks to pioneering surgery has given birth.Masaya, a 15-year-old roloway monkey, underwent a complex operation to remove a golf ball-sized mass from her foot last summer.Despite finding no previous examples of the surgery on roloway monkeys, vets at Chester Zoo teamed up with surgeons from the University of Liverpool and adapted surgical techniques for the procedure. They were able to save all but one of Masaya's toes.
