00:04tonight on the curse of oak island oh wow check that out that's a great find that could be really
00:11really old this was used to build a wooden vault or some sort of structure down below for safe
00:16keeping after researching the xenomap i came across three churches on the west coast of france
00:21these three churches are pointing towards oak island you've got something big on your hands
00:25it's absolutely intentional it matches slot five in the money pit they were trying to
00:29conceal it which makes it even more spectacular
00:34there is an island in the north atlantic where people have been looking for an incredible
00:41treasure for more than 200 years so far they have found a stone slab with strange symbols carved into
00:50it man-made workings that date to medieval times and a lead cross whose origin may be connected
00:58to the knights templar to date six men have died trying to solve the mystery
01:04and according to legend one more will have to die before the treasure can be found
01:25do you know what time it is treasure time a new day on oak island begins with great excitement
01:33for rick marty and their team as they are digging to historic depths in the money pit area
01:40right at the bottom of karma we're in the solution channel that's where the treasure's going to be
01:46look we've got as good a chance as any to find it today and i hope it's going to be
01:52right over there
01:53one day ago after excavating the seven foot diameter shaft known as karma one 212 feet deep to the bottom
02:03of the solution channel the team lifted the steel caissons to allow loose soils and debris to settle
02:11overnight into a pile below they are now about to retrieve those materials with a dig bucket and
02:18search them for evidence of a large source of silver which has been detected through water and soil testing
02:25in this area it is their hope that the silver is connected to the 14th century portuguese coin
02:32reportedly retrieved from the money pit by foreman james pitt blado in 1849
02:40all right let the sluice loose let's go take a look all kinds of man-made things are in that
02:49solution channel we've proven it we've brought them up so i'm very hopeful that we're going to find some
02:55evidence of the treasure that we think fell into that collapsed area oh no it's really can get it all
03:02in the truck get it done the wash plant see what's in here okay as rick gary and terry wait
03:08to search
03:09more spoils in the money pit area some 500 feet to the east near smith's cove it's pretty muddy yeah
03:18a
03:18little bit charles barkhouse and other members of the team are at the wash plant searching by hand through
03:25spoils that were previously removed from the karma one shaft and may contain important evidence or
03:32valuables not found by gary's metal detector this process has already produced fines such as a small
03:40hand forged iron chain it's a type of chain gary has previously found while metal detecting in europe
03:47and he believes could have been used to lock a box or a chest
03:55oh wow check that out look right there looks like a rose head spike to me and it's hand wrought
04:04to
04:05fasten different pieces of wood together and that could be really really old anytime the team finds
04:10something on the conveyor belt at the wash plant i mean we're excited but finding that rose head spike
04:15you know in karma one could be the indicator that we're looking for this could come from the 1600s
04:21or earlier this could be from the original workings of the depositors of the treasure
04:27that's a great find but that's going to go to the lab for sure and emma test that we'll keep
04:33looking
04:35meanwhile back in the money pit area right this is it looks like the last material
04:41let's go check it out let's give it one more go okay rick and the team continue to search through
04:47the final spoils retrieved from the bottom of the karma one shaft
04:58i think we've gone as fast as we can go you're done yeah so got one more chance on the
05:04wash plant yep
05:06the wash plant it is yep hey guys hey how you doing adam are we on bottom we're bottom and
05:17we're
05:17cleaned up and bottom is 212. missed by an inch missed by a mile yeah well we're not going to
05:24miss
05:24the next time no no no we didn't find it we just move on to the next location yep literally
05:30our top
05:30pocket location was the one we're about to move to right two weeks ago the team began excavating a
05:43shaft known as top pocket five located less than 10 feet northeast of karma one this shaft was positioned
05:51directly over an area where water testing had revealed a massive source of silver deep underground
05:57making it their primary target for exploration of the solution channel
06:07that doesn't sound very good but unfortunately at a depth of just 25 feet the caissons were stopped by
06:16gravel backfill from a previous dig now using rock equipment's powerful rotating oscillator
06:25the team from sp canada can resume digging the tpf shaft down to the solution channel
06:32on the one hand karma one is a little disappointing but you just keep moving forward the quicker we get
06:39started the quicker we get down yep all right good thank you guys appreciate it thank you while the dig
06:45proceeds
06:46the money pit area later that day hey hey every time i look at this i don't know what to
06:56make of it
06:57it's getting incredible it's really quite spectacular yeah rick and peter arrive on lot eight to check on
07:04the investigation of the cradle-like formation of stones that were found beneath a 40 000 pound boulder
07:12how in the world was that made it's a 40 000 pound boulder if you were to drag it in
07:19it would destroy
07:19this i'm not thinking about how they did it as much as the why i mean this was definitely purposeful
07:26we didn't remove any soil from down here whatsoever it was filled with rocks after removing the boulder
07:33revealed this mosaic-like stone feature archaeologist fiona steel has begun removing debris and some of the
07:41stones to determine what purpose it might serve especially since the team has already detected possible
07:49evidence of a shaft and even silver in the soils below it i've worked with stone most of my life
07:56and the labor that you see in front of you is it was quite laborious it meant something to someone
08:05i think we need to do as much work as possible to address one key question what's underneath the boulder
08:12we had a lot of smaller rocks the ones that are these size all in the center and they were
08:16very loose
08:17so once i started removing them i started seeing these other rocks underneath and you can see the
08:22ones underneath are a fair bit larger in size than the ones that were actually on top and they extend
08:28all the way down here this is what's starting to produce itself as we've been excavating here i will
08:35say this that one there when i look at that the way it's positioned in this way it's very curious
08:42positioning of that yeah i still can't get out of my head the shape of these boulders that we had
08:48which were very triangular we had this big one down here and we had another big one there and a
08:52big one
08:52there and it almost felt like there was a triangle pointing down to this boulder i mean when you think
08:57about this area you think about xena's map in the december triangle this could also be related to that
09:04in 2016 the late author and researcher xena halpern shared documents with the team believed to have
09:12been created by members of the knights templar one was a 12th century map of nova scotia and the other
09:21was a map of oak island possibly dating back to 1347 astonishingly it featured several locations written
09:30in french but when translated to english they marked known sites on the island such as the money pit
09:37the swamp and a site called the december triangle
09:42could the stone cradle and boulder align with the location on a possible templar map
09:50i've puzzled about whether or not this area could be referencing the so-called december triangle on xena's
09:56map i think we have to have a really proper look in the area in the vicinity of the stone
10:04and see if
10:04there's more information to be revealed that will help us understand the relationship between the
10:11drawing on xena's map and this megalithic stone structure i came across this area here of a blue light
10:18clay and you can clearly see that there are chunks of charcoal like material mixed in with this clay
10:26i'm just not convinced that this blue um gray clay is natural to this area
10:31clay like this could be very similar to the clay that we find in the money pit
10:38i'm absolutely mesmerized by this this blue clay i wonder if this is very similar to the clay from the
10:45money pit on lot eight after removing some of the stones from the cradle-like feature that was covered by
10:51the massive boulder fiona has made a potentially important discovery if you look at the way the
10:58stones are now i've removed a few but it really looks like this clay material had been used to mortar
11:04in kind of a rounded section in the front of it it's absolutely intentional and purposeful and they
11:10were trying to conceal it and we did find some on lot five yeah makes it even more interesting yeah
11:17yeah yeah so if this matches that then again more more connections
11:24in 1804 the onslaught company carried up the first large-scale excavation of the money pit
11:30and encountered wooden platforms every 10 feet down to the 90-foot level
11:36during the dig they also reportedly found a thick layer of handwork blue clay at the 40-foot level
11:42which they believed was used as a sealant to keep water out of the shaft in order to protect
11:48something buried deeper below curiously in recent years the team has discovered handworked blue clay
11:56in the swamp and in the round feature on lot five if fiona is correct that she has now found
12:04the same kind
12:05of blue clay material in this stone feature on lot eight could it be more evidence that this feature was
12:11created to hide something this could be anything the reality is there are lead and silver beyond baseline
12:20values within the structure itself possibly in association with a shaft or a tunnel so we have
12:28to be patient at this point this has to be driven by the archaeological process is there anything we can
12:34do
12:34with the clay yeah we'll get a nice big chunk of that soil and then take that back to the
12:40lab and then we
12:41can run it through the xrd and see if it matches the lot five till or in the money pit
12:47till that's where
12:48it gets fun that's where it gets fun all right let's get the sample done there that's a good sample
12:55i'd like to give you this little bit here
13:00we'll need to get that to the lab as soon as we can there's a y here
13:05hopefully we can figure out what that is but i'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it but let's
13:10just
13:10keep moving this forward because we want to understand it what it may mean yeah
13:14yeah we've got a plan thank you all right see you guys
13:22the next morning that the first can yeah just started if we're gonna find some top pocket vines
13:31it's got a bit is can in the money pit area rick joins other members of the team as the
13:37tpf shaft
13:38is once again being excavated in a location where the highest trace evidence of silver has been detected
13:45more than 200 feet deep in the solution channel our first 150 feet is going to be you know pretty
13:51benign but from there on it's everyone on deck and everyone keep their eyes peeled below 150 feet
13:57everything's open game here because the solution channel ranges between some 150 to 220 feet deep
14:06where the team believes the treasure has fallen after the collapse of the original money pit
14:12it may take several days before the dig reaches its target depth yeah we're gonna backfill out of here
14:17down to about 150 feet we are in the area where there is evidence of the collapse the area where
14:24we
14:25have retrieved significant items so i'm hoping of course that this top pocket find location will
14:31provide the answer we all look forward to getting down to the bottom here this is the one i sure
14:38hope you're
14:39right yeah the pibleto coins strongly hints that something is down there but at the end of the
14:45day if we can make this happen and we will we've just got to stay the course we're just gonna
14:52chew
14:52through it until we get to the treasure all right you'll see it i'll be back thank you guys see
14:57you
14:57later that day morning guys hey hi morning so we have charlotte wheatley here in the war room
15:10in the war room rick craig and other members of the team are meeting with researcher charlotte wheatley
15:17charlotte she has some new information and i think today should be exceedingly interesting so having
15:23said that charlotte welcome to the war room thank you very much in light of a possible connection
15:28between the lot eight feature and zina halpern's believed 14th century templar map
15:35charlotte who is a colleague of emiliano judy and corian mall has been studying the map
15:41to look for more clues that may help verify its authenticity and how it may help solve the
15:47treasure mystery i came across this information after researching the xenomap which i've done four
15:55years research on i examined every name and place recorded on the map and one of them i found quite
16:01interesting i never heard it before was le lionceau de talmond which means the lion cub of talmond
16:08what was interesting for me is how could talmond connect to the islands there is a place in france
16:15called talmond so talmond is on the west coast of france it is a small fishing port one of the
16:24nicest features of talmond is a beautiful medieval church and it's dedicated to a lesser known female
16:29saints called radigonde it's got a very simple interior typical of cistercian influence it was built in
16:37the 11th to 12th century by benedictine monks the benedictines are a catholic religious order that
16:44was founded in the sixth century and adhered to what was known as the rule of saint benedict a moral
16:51code
16:51for leading a faithful and productive life these writings inspired the formation of an order of monks
16:59known as the cistercians in 1098 and one of their most noted leaders was bernard of clairvaux who co-founded
17:07the knight's templar in 1119. the church was fortified so that actually meant that they used it
17:15not only as a church but also as a as a fort which is not a common thing on churches
17:20in france
17:21how is this connected to oak island and why the lion cub of talmond really interestingly there used to be
17:30a very intriguing feature that resembled the sphinx and was actually known as the sphinx of talmond
17:38and as you can see it is a sphinx-like shape sadly um it was destroyed in the early 20th
17:44century so
17:45there's nothing left today there is nothing left and the church itself used to overlook the sphinx
17:51so it makes sense that this could actually be the the lion cub of talmond oh
17:58so what interested me is that the church itself it's actually we used to be pointing towards where
18:04the sphinx was at roughly a 292.4 degree angle and when you follow the line of the church going
18:12through the front drawer and continuing on a straight line when you go across the atlantic
18:17you end up on their continent
18:22if that was one coincidence that's fine what gets quite creepy is that
18:28about 60 kilometers away i come across another chapel which is located in a place called crore
18:34and it is also dedicated to the same saint saint radivant
18:39the church itself is at the angle of 292.1 degrees and when you follow that line from the back
18:46of the
18:46church in a perfectly straight direction you arrive on the cone whoa and again this church was built by
18:56the same people who built the other church and in between both churches there is another madigon church
19:02and this is actually located in a town of the same name called saint radivant and it's orientated at a
19:10292.1 degree angle so but if you follow the acts of the church in a perfectly straight direction we
19:16arrive
19:16again on the islands it's odd for sure so we have three churches under the same paint village built by
19:24the same group of people locating the 60 kilometer radius all on the west coast of france these three
19:30chapters are pointing towards the islands it's interesting these detractors are pointing towards
19:38the islands so three points dedicated to the same lady built by the same group of people in the war
19:47room
19:47researcher charlotte wheatley is presenting new information about three potentially templar related
19:53churches in the region of talmond france that she believes are located on an east to west line
20:00that leads directly to oak island it just can't be coincidence i have tested this theory on lots of
20:10churches in france and this doesn't happen so i've asked other researchers to check if the alignment
20:16seemed correct and they all agree that these three buildings seem to be perfectly aligned with the
20:21islands talking about when was that built same period we're talking about 13th 12 13th century yeah
20:27yeah it's curious it is the alignment charlotte mentions that's incredibly curious were the alignments
20:36with the church is purposeful there are perhaps our alignments that we are currently unaware of with
20:42other features other features on the island lot five lot eight the bog the money pit is there a connection
20:50here so i decided to take a look at the actual patron of these churches saint radigan's she was born
20:58around the year 520 and she actually wanted to dedicate her life to becoming a holy woman she made a
21:06monastery and she turned it into a sort of place of learning prayer and pilgrimage born into a royal
21:14family in the german land of thuringia radigund became a devout christian nun and emigrated to france
21:22where she founded the catholic abbey of the holy cross in the city of pontiers in 552 a.d
21:31a sacred site which reportedly houses a piece of the so-called true cross on which jesus was crucified
21:40and this is the thing that really got me is that when i did research on her i noticed
21:45that she's known to carry a book and she's known to carry a book with a four-dot cross
21:57i've looked at lots of iconography of saints this is the only saint i found who's presented with a book
22:05with a four-dot cross in recent years the team has visited numerous former strongholds of the knights
22:12templar in france italy denmark and portugal what do you want to find pete i think something pretty
22:23interesting oh and in each location they have seen prominent carvings of crosses surrounded by four
22:30dots we have a four-dot cross there in the corner oh wow that some experts have interpreted to signify
22:36where the templar order hid sacred religious treasures curiously that same symbol was found
22:44by searchers on the so-called ho stone in 1921 on oak island has charlotte found new clues on zina
22:54halpern's map that may help verify a true connection to ancient templar related sites in europe and suggest
23:01it may be a key to locating where something of great or sacred value lies hidden on the island
23:09the uh ho stone that had the uh cross with the four dots i'm just wondering if continued research on
23:17that end you can also tie those symbols with those churches yes i think maybe that's worth looking into
23:23if the connection that you're suggesting does exist then the map does have a piece of information that
23:30is connected possibly to oak island that's right yeah so it is possible and it needs further
23:36development it would be interesting to have a look on the island maybe there's another ho stone out
23:42there that's fair yeah but the question is what happened here i don't know i'm gonna say the biggest
23:49mystery in the universe isn't it really i would like to think what happened here that this is a sacred
23:56place and it was chosen for a reason and i obviously hope there's something buried here and i hope
24:01you're gonna find out with your help we will we say thank you thank you thank you thank you very
24:07much
24:12as a new morning dawns on oak island here we go we're moving on down yeah we got another load
24:20coming up
24:21in the money pit area gary terry and jack continue to monitor the dick in the tpf shaft we're slowly
24:30nearing the zone of interest in top pocket find one and i'm very hopeful that we're going to find
24:36clear evidence of the collapse of the money pit and find something really valuable down in the solution
24:49channel oh what the stop it's caving geez there's material popping in because the ground has suddenly
25:02begun to give way around the tpf shaft the team from sp canada and rock equipment will need to move
25:09the
25:09oscillator to find out if they can safely continue the excavation wow this is not good we felt the
25:20ground shake and you can see that the ground around the oscillator has given weight there's been a collapse
25:28okay come on holy cow it looks like we might have lost ground did we yeah we're losing stuff down
25:35below
25:36wow wow we're losing stuff down below in the money pit area after reaching a depth of some 105 feet
25:48in the tpf shaft the surrounding earth has suddenly begun to cave in meaning a dangerous collapse could
25:56follow going at this depth it's a lot of wear and tear on everything right there's a ton of friction
26:01there's a ton of stuff in the ground like we've seen settlement on the outside of the casing we did
26:05see from the table the can was a little bit shaky yep it's more of settlement from all the other
26:11work
26:11that's been done around it and the lighter material goes down as we agitate all the way down with the
26:17oscillator it's dropping all the material through the bigger holes and slots i remember the last time
26:22there was a collapse in this area it looks the same last year the collapse went straight down the side
26:27of
26:27casing you know it was running full depth hey you got a problem we're having caving one year ago the
26:35earth
26:36surrounding the tb1 caisson located less than 20 feet to the northwest suddenly began to cave in and for
26:43safety the team had to abandon the excavation of the shaft now sb canada and rock equipment must act
26:53quickly to prevent a larger collapse and allow the team to keep digging where they have found the most
26:59compelling evidence of treasure in the solution channel this is only about 10 12 feet up at the top
27:05so it's perfect time to build it back up we're back filling that'll solve that yep yep that'll tighten
27:10it up you got large diameter solid metal tubes being driven down into the ground and we've got a lot
27:17of
27:17activity going on where basically we have some cave-ins these types of things they create a lot of
27:23havoc there's material moving in and out and away from the actual case on itself we have to mitigate
27:30those we have to push material back down into the hole because it's collapsed down in and around the
27:35case on as we're pushing it down now we've got this stabilizing everything from 108 all the way up
27:41so i see we're going to pack a little bit around it right now and then we move on right
27:44yep we're getting
27:45ready to transition between the bigger casing to the smaller case okay good so it's telescoping time
27:50now essentially you know avoid all the problems we're splitting the hole in two right right half
27:54the bigger casing takes the top half out 22 goes in finished it off what's the reason for changing to
28:01a smaller case on see the material that we're going through we're going through hundreds of feet of this
28:05stuff so it relieves all that tension and whatever it takes to get down whatever it takes to get down
28:10there once sb canada fills in the collapsed areas around the eight foot diameter tpf shaft
28:18with gravel backfill they will continue the dig down to the solution channel using smaller seven
28:25foot diameter steel caissons this will safely allow them to dig below the collapsed region and reach their
28:32target depth anything and everything to assure that we're going to get all the way down to 220 that's
28:38the goal whatever it takes get down there get deep find gary's treasure i love it see some of those
28:43top pocket vines when we get caissons down very near the solution channel things start to collapse
28:51i've seen it i've seen it collapse and collapse again and every time it was when we got close when
28:57we got close to the bottom so that's why i think it's entirely possible that's where a treasure fell to
29:04so we absolutely have to get to at least 220 feet on all of these yeah it looks like they're
29:12almost
29:12done so why don't we head back to the table sounds good yeah see you guys later guys rock on
29:19as the dig operation proceeds in the money pit area hey carmen appreciate you stopping by
29:26you got something to show me we do in the oak island lab alex and members of the team are
29:33meeting with
29:33blacksmithing expert carmen leg they have invited him back to examine the rose head spike retrieved
29:40from the karma one spoils two days ago carmen this spike was found by the wash plant team in the
29:47spoils
29:48of the karma one caisson emma you have some analysis of this spike compositionally it's a kind of unique
29:54iron what's unique about it that is that it has an exceptionally high phosphorus content
30:00so it categorized as cold short meaning it's brittle and colder climates
30:04cold short or cold brittle it's when an iron has a high phosphorus content which affects its strength
30:10in cold climates cold short iron is a great indicator for an iron age because now in modern times we
30:17can
30:17control the effects of phosphorus as it's a trait that we just don't want um it does have some trace
30:24amounts of manganese but even higher amounts of sulfur so it's a weird mixture within a composition
30:31so the most likely date is mid 1700s at least wow so carmen what can you tell us well it's
30:41a square
30:42shank spike i'm gonna say it was probably five or six inches long originally it's hard to see the
30:51head on this but it looks like it's very crudely made it doesn't have any form to it uh what
30:55does
30:55it show on the skin emma well it's just basically smushed down mushroom yeah but it's not formed it
31:03was driven straight down and the fibers are all split out like mushroom this is a piece of something
31:09larger and they took it drove it into something so probably the reason they reused it is because it broke
31:15so an improvised spike yeah i think they really used it and just smashed it into something this came
31:20from where we do know for a fact it came from below 167 feet so to me that means that
31:26it's deeper than
31:26any searchers have reached especially in that area which makes it very interesting yeah these are
31:32typically used for planking you know not for the main structures or anything but oftentimes when they
31:37were making large boxes or vaults that leads me to think that this was used to build a wooden vault
31:43or
31:43some sort of structure down below for safekeeping something this is something that you would see
31:53oftentimes when they were making large boxes or vaults or something they wanted to
31:59keep safe some valuable they wanted to keep safe that'd be good that is what we're looking for
32:04in the oak island lab carmen leg is examining a potentially mid-18th century spike
32:11that was recovered from nearly 170 feet deep in the karma one shaft this is something that was reused
32:20you know any effort here on the island was obviously done in secret if there was a deposit made they
32:25had
32:26to use what they brought and this is sort of speaking to that emma is there enough wiggle room in
32:31that
32:32early date to include 1746 absolutely well that's interesting because that allows for the possibility of
32:38duke d'onville because we're talking about one ship that got separated from the main fleet that decided
32:45most prudent to bury what they were carrying so it didn't fall into enemy hands so they would have had
32:50to work with what they had on that one ship could doug be correct that the team may have found
32:55a new clue
32:56linking possible buried treasure in the money pit to the duke d'onville an 18th century french noble
33:02whose family had links to the knights templar in 2017 doug found part of a ship's log in the nova
33:11scotia archives that described the burial of treasure in a deep pit on an island in this area back in
33:191746
33:21the log was reportedly written by a crew member under the duke d'on v's command
33:28this little spike is maybe telling us that our theory about the collapse is correct and that we're
33:32close because we're picking up traces of something from the original money pit so we would be then
33:38looking at just remnants of things that didn't make it all the way down there and it collapsed so even
33:43though we didn't hit the treasure in karma finding this spike tells us that we were close yeah the hope
33:49is if it is something from the money pit if it is something from a chest or a box to
33:56me it speaks
33:57to the possibility that other things will be found that could be the source of the silver concentrations
34:04that are indicated by the soil samples and the water samples at this location and hopefully there's
34:10something down there in top pocket find one it's very interesting so you know thank you both for your
34:16analysis i think it says we're on the right track and we need to keep going so that said we
34:21will try
34:22to bring you guys some more to look at very good thank you see you later later that day
34:32while the excavation of the tpf shaft continues in the money pit area
34:39how's it going hey rick we just lifted a couple more rocks all right and under those rocks we're
34:45getting organics i gotta get down there go for it rick joins jack and the archaeology team as
34:52they continue excavating the cradle-like formation of stones on lot eight no idea how deep no yeah
35:00no but it's giving us reason to keep going so we're going to try to expose the base and then
35:05work our
35:06way up to see how it was built do you think what you're calling the second level is that natural
35:14or those placed as well no i think they're they're still all placed right now this seems to be
35:22firmly affixed i can't get it out we're all curious you know i could give it a try i'm not
35:27saying i can
35:27do it though yeah yeah absolutely you come this way i'll go that way i'll disturb those
35:42oh no that one's there oh there's no gift to that that's amazing they are locked in there tight
35:50lot eight it presents all kinds of possibilities one of which has to include that zena's map may
35:58have some relevance here oh boy that's in there whether because this construction was some sort of
36:05alignment or maybe there's something under there we need to figure out what this construction represents
36:14oh wow that that is definitely in there yeah i think that's in there i think that could be
36:20redeposited in this i think it is it's embedded no i really want it out they're fixed in there quite
36:26tight yeah scrape this stuff yeah it almost looks like some sort of hard clay yeah it's uh i would
36:37put a
36:37little chunk like that some water and see what its consistency turns into
36:42it might be able to reconstitute it as it was used yeah a little water there joe yeah let's see
36:49if it turns
36:50into anything okay thank you
37:00is it turning into like a clay well like a almost like almost a little bit like cement yeah now
37:08that looks
37:08like cement yeah this is unbelievable now that looks like cement yeah that's why this held right
37:20yeah and this is just all filled in that's what you see here oh yeah on lot eight rick has
37:28just
37:28discovered evidence that the stones which were uncovered below the massive boulder appear to have been set
37:35in place with man-made mortar or cement once it dries i'll bet it adheres perfectly to that really
37:46gritty cement yep and you wouldn't think when you break it apart right now it's just sand yeah i bet
37:52there's a lot of calcium carbonate in here when you compare this elementally to cement through the
38:00ages i think you're gonna get a fairly accurate date like from roman cement on forward be interesting to
38:09see which kind of cement this matches oh yeah that would be interesting that would be crazy yeah
38:17because different types of concrete mixtures have been used throughout the ages of human construction
38:23dating back as far as ancient egypt could determining the contents of this material
38:29help the team approximate when this feature was created
38:33i believe the mortar or the cement like material might reveal a when maybe even tell us where does
38:41it come from is there a cultural association hopefully there can be some answers derived from
38:47this analysis that mixture might be quite revealing it resembles uh a lot five on the semicircular feature
38:56yeah yeah it looks a lot like the clay we found there what turned out to correlate with the maroon
39:01until from the money pit yeah it'll be interesting to see how it tests yeah well if it corresponds to
39:06those two you've got something big on your hands yep oh look at that in addition to the blue clay
39:14found on lot
39:15five and reportedly by earlier searchers in the money pit the laginas and their team have also discovered
39:23a similar looking mortar-like material in the round feature on lot five that match soil samples
39:29for more than 100 feet deep in the money pit area
39:34it's all smeared all through here so if the team can match this cement material on lot eight to those
39:41structures
39:42could that mean all three may have been built by the same people to move a 40 000 pound rock
39:49into a position on a nicely crafted rock cradle i mean you have to come up with a theory as
39:56to why
39:57somebody was moved to move that boulder and maybe they were trying to hide something very important
40:03what in the heck went on on this island uh it just raises the mystery to new levels
40:11there was a reason for this and it wasn't just to support that boulder it could go deeper it could
40:17yeah
40:18and the archaeology will tell okay well you know what i'm gonna let you two get back to work all
40:24right
40:25i have a feeling those rocks are gonna need a little bit of persuasion to come on there
40:30yeah i'll do my best okay all right thank you good luck by digging in the ground and far back
40:37into
40:38history rick marty craig and their team are finding mounting evidence that people journeyed to oak island
40:46long ago to hide precious and perhaps sacred secrets and through patience and tireless effort
40:55they may have identified not only structures that those people inhabited but now at least two other
41:02locations where those secrets could lie buried so as the team looks deeper have they uncovered the final
41:12barriers between them and the ultimate answers or will they encounter something much harder to break
41:20through than bedrock and concrete
41:30next time on the curse of oak island
41:34broken through into the solution channel that's what we're looking for
41:38the three churches have exactly the same stellar alignment of lock five this could be a tunnel shaft entrance
41:45maybe it's just right under here a piece of wood what's wood doing down that day maybe this wood came
41:50from the original money pit
41:51if there's wood at the top maybe there's gold at the bottom possibly treasure on deck
