00:00Pass the aux cord and crank up the volume.
00:04Figgy Figg's in the driver's seat.
00:06Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
00:10It's time for Figgy's Mixtape on Sports Radio 610.
00:14Yes, it is the Mixtape in the Loop Sports Radio 610.
00:18It's your man Figgy Figg holding it down on a Wednesday.
00:21Happy Wednesday to everyone out there.
00:24And congratulations to Michael B. Jordan,
00:26who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in the Movie Centers.
00:30At the Oscars.
00:31And Reggie, I know you watched, you had,
00:33I don't know if you watched the whole Oscars.
00:34I did watch the whole.
00:35Oh, did you?
00:36Okay, I know it was on one of the TVs.
00:38That is correct.
00:38Yeah, see, look, you're learning.
00:40Yeah, yeah, man.
00:41So, salute to Michael B. Jordan.
00:43And he celebrated, we kind of talked about this off the air,
00:47he celebrated by going to In-N-Out Burger.
00:50Poor guy.
00:52He was tearing that burger up, too, man.
00:54He was.
00:54It looked good, actually.
00:56It didn't look bad.
00:57It did not look bad.
01:27Yeah.
01:30Heard it was a good movie.
01:31Heard he did a damn good job.
01:33Good watch.
01:33Yeah, he definitely did.
01:34Yeah.
01:35And also, shout out to, was it Ryan Coogler?
01:38Yeah, Ryan Coogler, director.
01:40Yeah.
01:40I think he won an Oscar as well.
01:42Yeah, for Sinners.
01:44It was for writing, best original screenplay, I believe.
01:47Yeah, yeah.
01:47So, yeah, salute.
01:50And with him winning this Oscar, an old interview popped up.
01:54So, this was an interview with a lady by the name of L'Oreal.
01:59She was on a red carpet.
02:00It was a couple years ago.
02:02This was for his other movie, Creed.
02:04I want to say it was Creed.
02:05Okay.
02:06Okay.
02:07Yeah.
02:07So, L'Oreal, who is, I think she's on a morning show called The Morning Hustle.
02:12It's a hip-hop morning show.
02:15She's been around and loving hip-hop and all that stuff.
02:17She's been in the entertainment hip-hop space.
02:21And this is how the interview went.
02:24Yeah, Michael B. Jordan, the director and the star of Creed 3.
02:30And, you know, we know each other.
02:31We go way back all the way to Chad Science in Newark.
02:34Okay.
02:35The corny kid, right?
02:36No.
02:37I did not say that.
02:39Misquoted for sure.
02:41No, you did not hear me say, I said, well, you used to make fun of the name.
02:45But, yeah, he is obviously killing things out here.
02:49He called her out right there.
02:51He was the corny kid, right?
02:52Yeah.
02:52So, apparently, you know, they went to school together.
02:55They went to high school together in Newark, New Jersey.
02:59And I guess he heard that or mentioned how she used to call him the corny kid.
03:05Yeah.
03:05And she said, no, we used to make fun of the name, which is his name is Michael Jordan.
03:09Yeah.
03:10And he had to call her out on the red carpet.
03:13And that started circulating a lot after that Oscar win.
03:18And I didn't know she spoke about this again.
03:21So, I think.
03:22Did she speak about it again?
03:23Yeah.
03:23So, she was on another podcast.
03:25This is a podcast with a bunch of women on it.
03:28Mm-hmm.
03:28And they brought that situation up.
03:31Pretty much defended her, saying that he got it wrong.
03:34Yeah.
03:35And he was, you know, pretty much saying she was the victim because she had been getting
03:40attacked over this.
03:41Mm-hmm.
03:41Or I don't want to say attacked, but clown.
03:43Well, just criticized, yeah.
03:44Yeah.
03:44Just kind of getting clowned for, you know, him calling her out on the red carpet.
03:49And here's the conversation with L'Oreal on this podcast.
03:53But look at the hypocrisy, right?
03:54They're mad at her for saying someone was corny in high school that she didn't even say.
04:00And then proceed to say things 1,000 times worse than what she said.
04:0510,000 times worse.
04:07It's crazy.
04:08It doesn't even make sense.
04:09And you didn't even say it.
04:09And no one has ever said, hey, our bad.
04:12We went back and heard the audio.
04:13You didn't say it.
04:14It was in your front office.
04:15Oh, no.
04:15People came up to me and was like, oh, you know, my fault.
04:18But the disrespect was way louder than the apology.
04:22I didn't even, one of my homeboys reached out to me like, oh, Michael said his bad, yo.
04:27It was an article he read.
04:29He thought you said it.
04:30But you went on all these other publications.
04:32Not only that, I have a nationally syndicated morning show.
04:35Yeah.
04:35Come have a seat and talk about it.
04:37You know, the thing that hurts from it, and this is why now I watch what I do, because I
04:41was defending him a lot.
04:43Think about all the people that were saying many things about this man.
04:46And I would always be like, nah, da-da-da-da-da.
04:49Oh, I don't be defending people like that no more.
04:52Well, that's not right.
04:54That's not making anything better.
04:56I quit.
04:57I quit.
04:58I'm not going to do that anymore.
04:59Yeah, so the internet do what the internet be doing.
05:03They decided to dig up what really happened.
05:05Oh, boy.
05:06So here is, here is.
05:08Wait, so we're bringing up high school beef and making it into adult beef is what's happening?
05:13Yeah, pretty much.
05:14I just wanted to be clear.
05:14Continue, please.
05:15But, so here's L'Oreal on another podcast.
05:18And I've been trying to piece all this together.
05:21I think this happened before the red carpet incident.
05:24Okay.
05:24And I think this is where Michael B. Jordan might have got it from.
05:27But here's L'Oreal on another podcast with some ladies talking about just Michael B. Jordan.
05:34That Michael B. Jordan is just like a nice, corny guy.
05:37And I don't mean that as a slight, right?
05:39I mean, we all know that the nice, corny guys treat you the best.
05:43To be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan.
05:47Like, let's start there.
05:49And he was no Michael Jordan.
05:50And then he also would come to school with headshots.
05:54We lived in Newark.
05:55Yeah.
05:56Like, that's the hood.
05:57You know what I mean?
05:58So, we would make fun of him.
06:00Like, what you got to do with your little stupid headshots?
06:02Like, and now look at him.
06:04So, she was the one that said we teased him over the name Michael Jordan.
06:08So, she actually didn't call him corny.
06:10She kind of did.
06:11But that's what I'm saying.
06:12That was the other.
06:14She just called it well, actually.
06:15Yeah.
06:16Pretty much.
06:16Yeah.
06:16So, she technically didn't call him corny.
06:19But she did say, look at your name.
06:22You ain't no Michael Jordan for real.
06:24Yeah.
06:24Which.
06:25Go ahead.
06:25As high schoolers.
06:26Yeah.
06:27We've been mean.
06:29We've all been mean.
06:30All right.
06:30I hope that you weren't mean in high school.
06:32Shout out to you if you weren't.
06:33Yeah.
06:33But we've all been somewhat mean at times because children are not good people.
06:37The thing is, he remembered, though.
06:39He did.
06:40On that red card.
06:40Oh, the corny guy, right?
06:42Yeah.
06:43I don't know, man.
06:44She kind of said we called him the corny guy or something along those lines.
06:50I don't know.
06:51I don't think it looks good for her.
06:52So, she's not the victim.
06:54But again, well, just gobs of water under the bridge.
06:59I mean, so long ago.
07:01Yeah.
07:01It shouldn't really matter.
07:02It's being overblown.
07:03But if we're getting technical about it, I mean, she kind of.
07:06Yeah.
07:07Kind of.
07:08I think it's hard for a woman to take accountability like that.
07:13No, seriously.
07:14I hear you.
07:14Like, I think if it was a guy, they would have just took the punches.
07:17Yeah, exactly.
07:18Like, yeah, yeah, that's me.
07:19You know, I'm sorry.
07:20I mean, some of the other guys might be out here doing interviews about it and all that
07:25stuff.
07:25But I think a normal guy in that situation probably would have just been like, yep.
07:30Yep.
07:30Yep.
07:30You got me.
07:31You know, everybody, you know, take shots at me.
07:34I was in high school.
07:35Yeah.
07:35I don't think a guy would have played the victim.
07:37Now, the one thing I will say, that final podcast that she was like, I don't think it's
07:41fair, I thought that was where you went to a place where it's like, ah.
07:44Yeah, yeah.
07:45Yeah, because now we're keeping this thing going.
07:47I think that as much as it might not have been fun to have people get you on the, ah
07:52-ha,
07:53you got called out on the red carpet.
07:55I think you got to just kind of, once again, lump that one.
07:58Yeah.
07:58Right?
07:58Just like it or lump it.
07:59You just got to take it.
08:00Just hold that one because ultimately.
08:02I'm so happy you're using that.
08:03I'm just trying.
08:04Please never say I haven't done anything for you, okay?
08:07Yeah, yeah.
08:07But I think that that's not the worst thing in the world.
08:10People are like, ah-ha, you got caught out.
08:12Because, like, you admitted.
08:14We were making fun of, you know, his name at the very least.
08:16You could just be like, yeah, but we're all grown now and we're in a better place.
08:20And look at him.
08:20He's in a great place.
08:21And speaking for her, she's in a better place.
08:25Right.
08:25That was the thing.
08:26It felt like y'all were both winners here.
08:28Yeah, yeah.
08:28So we didn't need to do this on the back end.
08:30Yeah, yeah.
08:31So it wasn't like she was a homeless person out there.
08:33Right, right.
08:34You know, she's doing pretty well, too.
08:36So salute everybody.
08:37Salute to Michael B. Jordan for winning the Oscar.
08:39Mm-hmm.
08:42This is Mitch Saban and Luke Sports Radio 610.
08:44I want to see how smart you guys are about the shows y'all watch on TV.
08:50Okay, can I say something first?
08:51Ah, see, there you go.
08:53See, look at that.
08:53He already copping, please.
08:54I am.
08:55I 100% am.
08:57I got a list of shows, and Below the Deck is not on here.
09:02Life Below Deck.
09:04So that's a good example.
09:05You know, we all live relatively, you know, intense mental.
09:12I mean, we're not solving any of the world's hunger problems or splitting the atom or anything.
09:16But our daily routine is pretty intense from the morning on.
09:19You know, you're having to think, you're having to research, you're having to, you know, kind of go pretty intent
09:24on audio or whatever.
09:25Your brain is working pretty hard.
09:27All right?
09:28So when I sit down at night, whether it's 630 or 7.
09:31I think you're thinking too much into this, man.
09:32I just, I call it, I was telling Reggie during the break, because I was laughing about this.
09:36I watch some silly shows because I call it brain candy.
09:40I just want to not think.
09:42I just want to just sit there and laugh or point and laugh or whatever.
09:46So I say that to protect myself before you even come up with the list.
09:51I don't even think you got to do all that because I don't think this list is super intense.
09:54I didn't even actually call him corny, okay?
09:58That was Lopez just now.
09:59Yeah.
09:59So somebody came up with this list.
10:02Highly intelligent people often return to familiar shows for emotional grounding, nostalgia, and mental rest.
10:11Oh, I just described that.
10:13Exactly.
10:13Yeah.
10:14So I'm highly intelligent.
10:15I'll let you get your stuff off.
10:16I'm like, man, I think it'll end up okay.
10:19I think you good.
10:21So at this point, I'm curious how many shows y'all watch that's actually on this list.
10:26Okay.
10:26So it's 11 shows.
10:28The first show is the Andy Griffin show.
10:31Not in years.
10:32Really?
10:33Not in years.
10:34Okay.
10:34I watch it sometimes.
10:35If it pop on, I sit there and watch it.
10:37On MeTV?
10:38Yeah.
10:39Sometimes I watch MeTV or something on Pluto.
10:42Oh, okay.
10:43If it's on, I check it out.
10:44I'm not searching for it.
10:46I will say that is what we've lost and so many people cutting cords.
10:50It's very rarely you just stumbling on something and watching it just because.
10:53Yeah, yeah.
10:53That's about the last time I watched it.
10:55You have to be a lot more intentional.
10:56You got to really search to watch something now.
10:58And I'm going to be honest.
10:59With all due respect to what was a fantastic show, I have never in my life typed in on my
11:04TV, Andy Griffith show.
11:06Like, I never did either.
11:07But if it's on, I will stop and watch it a little bit.
11:1260 Minutes.
11:13I watch 60 Minutes.
11:14Pretty regularly.
11:15Because I watch CBS, football on CBS on a Saturday.
11:19Yeah.
11:19So on Sunday when that thing rolls over.
11:22Well, it's not even.
11:22You just, if you don't change the channel too quick, all of a sudden you're like 60 Minutes
11:26is on and maybe just maybe you look up and you're like, oh, that's an interesting story.
11:29Yeah.
11:29It keep you around.
11:30Okay.
11:30Okay.
11:31Seinfeld.
11:31I know both of y'all watched that.
11:33Yep.
11:34I can't get into it as much.
11:36I respect it, but I can't get into it as much.
11:38The Real Housewives.
11:39Nope.
11:40No.
11:40No.
11:41No.
11:42Ain't trashy enough for you, Lopez?
11:43No.
11:44Not enough.
11:45All right.
11:45The Carol Burnett show.
11:47Oh, I used to watch the hell out of that, but it's been a long time.
11:49Yeah.
11:50It also feels like that's in the Andy Griffith show.
11:51Yeah.
11:52Yeah.
11:52MASH.
11:53I haven't in a while.
11:55Hell no for me.
11:56I haven't.
11:57Actually, I say in a while, like years.
11:59Actually, it's probably been just a few months because the last time we talked about it on
12:02the show, there was like something MASH related.
12:05I can't remember if somebody passed or if it was an anniversary of the final episode.
12:09Yeah.
12:09I watched the final episode that day on that anniversary.
12:13So, it's only been a few months since I've last watched it, actually.
12:15Okay.
12:16Jeopardy.
12:17A lot.
12:17You know what I've actually started doing lately?
12:19I haven't been watching full shows.
12:20I've been watching just clips on social media of them running through an entire category.
12:27Yeah.
12:28I kind of like Jeopardy now because I can look at the host and I'm like, I remember he was
12:33a contestant.
12:33Yeah.
12:33Ken Jennings.
12:34Yeah.
12:35I just remember PTI just talking about this guy.
12:38Like, look at this dope.
12:39He's still on the show.
12:41Like, nobody beat this dope yet.
12:43Like, that was a big deal, man.
12:45Him, like, being undefeated pretty much.
12:47Oh, yeah.
12:48A long time.
12:49Yeah, for a long time.
12:50It was on PTI almost every day, them talking about that.
12:54This one, I don't think y'all watched this one, but where is my sounder at?
12:59I'm looking for, I can't find it.
13:02But Law & Order.
13:05For a while, I was on a kick, but not in a while, yeah.
13:08I used to watch Law & Order.
13:09There we go.
13:09There we go.
13:10Yeah.
13:10I used to watch, I hate police procedurals now.
13:13I really do.
13:14Really?
13:14The formulaic nature of it, I know for some people it gives them, like, peace.
13:17It just drives me up a wall.
13:19I just can't.
13:20I just can't do it.
13:21I watch them.
13:23Yeah.
13:23The other one is Frasier.
13:25Oh, boy.
13:26I used to watch that a lot of Frasier.
13:27I could watch that every day.
13:28I haven't watched Frasier in a little bit, but I did a rewatch of Frasier not more than
13:31five years ago.
13:32Cheers.
13:34I could watch that every day.
13:36Yeah.
13:36I haven't watched Cheers.
13:37I couldn't get with it.
13:38And Nova.
13:39I never heard of Nova.
13:40That's an old one.
13:41PBS.
13:41Yeah.
13:42Really?
13:42Yes.
13:43I watch Nova sometimes.
13:44What is it about?
13:45It's like a documentary series where various things that they'll do in the world of science
13:49and stuff, they'll pull up.
13:51Okay.
13:51Okay.
13:52So, pretty smart, right?
13:53They really sniped me on the PBS show.
13:56Damn it.
13:56That's not even close to what I watch.
13:58Like, when I watch, again, what I call brain candy, it's like silly stuff, like Animal Control.
14:05I've been on that kick lately.
14:06Oh, that's the one with...
14:07The big tall dude that was on Community.
14:11Joe McHale.
14:11Yeah, yeah.
14:12You know, stuff like that.
14:14Just silly little sitcoms or shows like that, because I want to chill, man.
14:19I don't want to think.
14:20And that means you're smart, huh?
14:21And that means I'm smart.
14:22Yeah.
14:23Didn't even know that.
14:24Yeah.
14:24Like, just smart people that ain't got to watch smart stuff all the time, right?
14:26Who did this research?
14:27Yeah.
14:28Was this like the Academy of Television that was like, yes, if you watch these television
14:31shows, that means you are smart.
14:33Watch more of them.
14:34Or these are just smart people that watches these type of television shows to kind of...
14:40But just smart people, huh?
14:41No dumb people watch these shows?
14:43Yeah, probably not.
14:44I don't know.
14:46All right, I'll get y'all out of here on this.
14:48It's the Mixtape and the Loot Sports Radio 610.
14:51I've been meaning to give a shout out to a guy by the name of Shema Scott of the Akron
14:56Zips, who made this game winning shot to send the team to the dance.
15:01Five to shoot.
15:02Shema Scott for the lead.
15:05Nothing but net for the hometown kid.
15:09Akron up by three.
15:12Lydon lost it.
15:13Parks to tie.
15:14Oh!
15:15And Akron, it's a three-peat.
15:18The dynasty for the Zips as Shema Scott sends Akron dancing.
15:24The dynasty.
15:25Dynasty.
15:26In that case, McNeese State has a dynasty.
15:29Yeah.
15:29Yeah, they've been a few years in a row now.
15:31I will say, that's going to be a dude that I'm going to be watching closely, because
15:36that 5-12 matchup between Akron and Texas Tech, that one might be one of the ones that
15:41people are most looking at as a possible...
15:43I actually picked Akron in this one.
15:45Did you?
15:45Yeah, my bracket, I picked Akron.
15:47Mm-hmm.
15:47And you probably wonder, why the hell am I playing this game?
15:50I am.
15:51So, I used to go to his grandpa's church.
15:54Oh, really?
