Keir Starmer attacks Kemi Badenoch over comment her shadow minister made about Muslims, including the Mayor of London.
Transcript
00:00She appointed the Shadow Justice Secretary.
00:04He said last night that Muslims praying in public, including the Mayor of London, practicing
00:11his faith, are not welcome.
00:14He described it as an act of domination, straight from the Islamist playbook.
00:19If we're in my team, he'd be gone.
00:22It's utterly appalling.
00:24She should denounce his comments and she should sack him.
00:29He wants to talk about Justice Secretaries.
00:32His Justice Secretary is abolishing jury trials.
00:34My Shadow Justice Secretary, my Shadow Justice Secretary, my Shadow Justice Secretary is defending
00:41British values.
00:42I know who I would rather have sitting on the front bench next to me, and it's not him.
00:47So her position is that the Shadow Justice Secretary is defending British values when
00:54he says Muslims praying together in Trafalgar Square are not welcome.
00:59Mr Speaker, even Tommy Robinson, I can hardly believe I'm saying this, has said today that
01:04if the Shadow Justice Secretary had made these hateful comments two years ago, the Conservative
01:09Party would have kicked him out.
01:11Now, Tommy Robinson isn't some sort of moral signpost.
01:15He was pointing out how much their party has changed.
01:18They're more inclined to his views, and he's right about that.
01:21The fact that he's sitting on her front bench shows she's too weak and has got absolutely
01:26no judgement.
01:30The Prime Minister wants to talk about my leadership.
01:32I'm shocked because his former deputy has just fired the starting gun on the race to
01:37replace him.
01:38And I'll tell him one thing, she and I both agree that this weak man should be replaced
01:42by a strong woman.
01:43Because she asks about leadership.
01:44When I see religious events in Trafalgar Square, when I see Hindus celebrating Bali, when I see
01:51Jews celebrating Hanukkah live, when I see Christians performing the Passion of Christ, or Muslims
01:58praying, that shows the great strength of our diverse city and country.
02:03I've never heard her party call out anything other than the Muslim events.
02:08It's only when Muslims are praying.
02:10The only conclusion is the Tory party has got a problem with Muslims.
02:16Can I just say, people will say, I am not responsible for the answers.
02:20I've just got to say that.
