00:00Lay down now.
00:06Come here. Lay down. Now.
00:09I'm Jamal and this is Kenzo.
00:14My alibi, also known as an Asian Shepherd dog.
00:17I had him imported from Belarus
00:21and he ended up being more of a rescue dog.
00:26I was in the market to get a new dog
00:30but my friends originally bought the dog
00:34not realising how big he's going to get.
00:37Some people said that he stops growing at three
00:39and some people were telling me that he stops growing at four.
00:44On his back legs, I think about six foot.
00:47Last time I weighed him, and that was a few months ago
00:50when we went to the vet, he was 85 kgs.
00:54He's eating nutritiously every single day.
00:56So, hopefully, this should be it.
01:00I will give him a kilo of raw meat every single night.
01:06But throughout the day, he might have a little bit of kibble
01:09just to keep him going.
01:11And roughly, I spend about 25 pounds to 30 pounds a week
01:16on just his raw food.
01:19He would live outside at night time
01:21and then I made a nice little house for him in the back.
01:24But he would bark at night time.
01:26So, I got a lot of complaints from the local residents.
01:32And then I ended up having to buy a house, you know,
01:37for me to kind of move into.
01:39I wasn't supposed to buy a house anyway.
01:41But I made sure that I bought a house with a big garden.
01:44In the garden, I've had to kind of make sure that I've built him
01:48his own outdoor kennel.
01:52Yeah, so there's been a lot of adjustments.
01:54When I first got him, my daughters were very scared and intimidating
01:58obviously because of his size.
02:00But it was the first time that they were kind of integrated
02:03with dogs or pets anyway.
02:05And then it got to a stage where they are so comfortable
02:10and bonding with one another.
02:13Now, my daughters can take him for a walk.
02:17But my youngest, obviously, I supervise when she takes him for a walk
02:21and stuff as well.
02:22And, you know, they've built a really good bond.
02:24It's not like a small little dog.
02:26I can just pick him up and, you know, put him in the car
02:29or, you know, travel around with him lightly.
02:32I always have to make special arrangements if I'm travelling,
02:36going anywhere, taking him with me or going anywhere overnight.
02:41Originally, he had very anxiety, had high anxiety levels
02:46of being in a vehicle or going in a car
02:48because of how he was transported here as a puppy.
02:51But over a period of time, now he's broken that fear.
02:55He's happy to get in and out of a car.
02:56I can't have more than me and one person and a dog in the car
03:00because the car's not big enough, so I have to put all the back seats down.
03:04So, yeah, transportation, the size of him, you know, it's just...
03:08But again, it's worth it.
03:11I can't walk from my house or more than five minutes to the shop
03:17because I get stopped once, then I get stopped again,
03:21then I get stopped again, then I get stopped again,
03:23and it's the same question.
03:24What breed is he? Where's he from? How old is he?
03:27Can I stroke him? Can I da-da-da-da-da?
03:29And I don't really want to be a mean dog owner and say no
03:36and not answer people's questions and not allow them to kind of interact with Kenzo.
03:44However, Kenzo's got a special word.
03:46If I say friend, then he knows he can interact with them.
03:51And then I always tell the people, let me introduce you first
03:56before you kind of come over and start stroking him
03:58because, you know, I get that with more the elderly, you know,
04:04wanting to just come and grab him and cuddle him and all of that kind of stuff.
04:08But with that, you know, he's really good once he knows how to kind of...
04:16or who to interact with.
04:17I know I stepped on your foot. I'm sorry, okay?
04:20You can relax now.
