00:00Did you know that, at the time of the release of the film Batman Returns,
00:03Warner Brothers faced an unusual problem with the Catwoman posters?
00:06The posters placed at bus stops in the United States began to disappear,
00:10as many fans broke the glass to take them home.
00:12The situation got out of control and the police had to patrol the locations to prevent further
00:16thefts. Today, these giant posters are rare items and are worth the fortune among collectors.
00:20According to casting director Marion Doherty, Tim Burton reportedly felt uncomfortable with
00:24the choice of Christopher Walken to play Max Schreck. When she asked the reason,
00:27he replied that the actor scared him a lot. Even so, the choice seems to have been meaningful
00:31for Burton, since he later worked with Walken again in the film Sleepy Hollow.
00:34Finally, Michael Keaton earned $10 million for this film, twice what he had earned in the first
00:38Batman movie starring him. This made the executives at Warner Brothers quite uncomfortable, but Tim
00:43Burton believed he deserved it. At the time, that amount represented the highest salary ever paid
00:47to an actor for a superhero role, surpassing Christopher Reeve, who received $6 million
00:51in his last appearance as Superman.
