03:23And what Fire Emblem Warriors does is it carries over some elements from the strategy games into this very action

03:32So, what Filippo is doing right now is he has the ability to give orders to all his heroes.

04:24Another element that, so giving orders, you really now truly feel like a general commanding your armies.
04:30The other element is the weapon triangle.

04:34So, the typical weapon triangle of Fire Emblem, swords are strong against axes, axes are strong against spears, spears are
04:40strong against swords.
04:41Yeah.
04:42Is also implemented in Fire Emblem Warriors, which you can see on the map, those icons, these double arrows pointing
04:50down, mean that there are enemies there that are weak to Xander.
04:55So, they're probably Axe users.

04:58If I change character, you'll see that the icons will change as well.
05:01So, Cordelia is a Lance user, has completely different vulnerabilities and enemies that she's strong against.

05:51But still, you're only performing the actions with one, while the AI is performing actions for the others.

05:58And by having the option to give commands, you can effectively make use of this weapon triangle and send the
06:05right commanders to the right areas where they have an advantage on the weapon triangle.
06:11So, it's a really nice thing that actually fits very well into the Warriors franchise.

06:16I always describe this game as basically, this is what happens in a Fire Emblem game when you give orders
06:21to your troops.
06:22We see it like in action, basically.
06:24So, one of the side missions that I was talking about before was defeating the thief, which I just did.
06:30Also, because the thief was a sword user, so he was weak against Hinoka's spear.
06:37So, now, some Pegasus knights appeared, just like Hinoka.
06:40So, knights mounted on Pegasus.

08:09And also, the level up system comes from Fire Emblem, where you have a random increase.

08:16Just like in Fire Emblem, sometimes you level up and you level up only two stats.
08:20Sometimes, like in this case, we have one, two, three, four, five, six stats that have leveled up, which is

09:47And all of the Pegasus Knights have also been defeated by my other allies.
09:52So I'm now cornering against a wall, but these are blocking almost everything I do, so I'm just gonna dodge.
09:59I love that with the mounted units, you can just push people around on your horse.
10:04So let me try to start another combo.
10:06What you can see there, this white gauge, that's when you dodge an enemy's attack, they are vulnerable to being
10:14stunned.
10:15So a white stun gauge means that you just have to attack multiple times to break through their stun.
10:21But for instance, when you have a weapon triangle advantage, that gauge will turn yellow and it will actually deplete
10:30much faster, so that you can stun them much quicker.
10:35So that's again a way in which the weapon triangle gives you an advantage in battle.
10:39And what is nice is that these implementations just feel very natural, because they feel like the integration into a
10:50warrior's game is as it should be.
10:53Yeah, absolutely.
10:54Yes.
10:55Oh, so I can see from the map that one of my allies is in danger, which is Camilla.
11:04So what I'm going to do, actually, I'm gonna go back into the map and I'm gonna basically tell her
11:09to heal herself.
11:10What is it?

11:57Maybe we can show another element of Fire Emblem, namely the ability to pair up characters.
12:04So I can pair up.
12:06Just like in Fire Emblem, when two characters fight together, their affinity improves.
12:12So they just keep fighting better together.
12:14But the other cool thing is that, well, we defeated all of the captains.
12:19Exactly.
12:20So now we have the enemy general, which actually is...
12:24Corinne.
12:25Corinne.
12:27And, I mean, she can turn parts of her body or her whole body into a dragon.
12:31Which is fun.
12:32Really cool.
12:33And she's definitely a tough enemy.
12:36So I'm just gonna, first of all, order everybody else, like Robin.
12:43So Robin is a special character, if you want to say so.
12:48Because he doesn't actually have a real weapon.
12:50He has his tome equipped because he's a tactician.
12:53Well, it's like how Leo also had a tome equipped.
12:58Yeah.
13:00And like how, for instance, Takumi has a bow equipped.
13:02So there's different weapons that fall outside of the classic weapon triangle.
13:08But they still have advantages and disadvantages against certain other weapon types.
13:15What is nice here is that you can see that Filippo is really focusing on getting all the captains through
13:21that hotspot in the corner where Corinne is waiting.
13:25And I'm going there also with Camilla paired with Xander.
13:30And one thing that's nice about pairing the characters is you can see now in the top left corner that
13:36Camilla's icon is the big icon.
13:39And Xander's icon is a bit smaller.
13:40Maybe you can just fight against a few enemies.
13:42Yes.

17:05What is quite amazing is that every time we've shown a demo, we've shown different characters.

17:12And what you can see is that these characters all have very distinct movesets.
17:16So they also give very much personality to each of the heroes as we know it.
17:22And that's something that I think is very much also, again, something that appeals to Fire Emblem fans.
17:28Because if you've played a Fire Emblem game before, there's always a few characters that have a special place in
17:32your heart.
17:33Because the permadeath system means that if you lose a character, you lose them forever.
17:41And that was, of course, a very traditional thing in Fire Emblem games.
17:44And there's always these characters that you remember, okay, I really, really don't want anything to happen to this character.
17:51Yes.
17:51And that means that when they have now this expanded moveset, it also enhances your affinity towards them.

17:57And definitely we've shown so many of these characters.
18:00Now, of course, all of these heroes in this demo were fighting each other.
18:05This demo is also fairly easy.
18:07Of course, later on it becomes not as easy.
18:10You really need to keep an eye on the entire battlefield because there are a lot of events that happen
18:14and you risk that really the battle can turn very quickly.

18:19And also all of these heroes that were fighting each other that are the protagonists of Fire Emblem Awakening and
18:25Fire Emblem Fates, they actually will be able to fight for you.
18:29So all of these characters that we've shown, even the ones that we fought, are actually playable by the player
18:34when the game will be released.
18:36There's going to be really a lot of Fire Emblem characters, so as Chris said, you surely will be able
18:41to find your favorite hero to fight with.
18:45And each combo system is different, so really learning how to use them effectively and at harder difficulty modes or
18:52in harder missions is not so trivial.
18:54I think for me one of the main reasons that I'm really looking forward to this game is that, as
19:00you said in the beginning,
19:01the new functions got implemented so seamlessly into the whole game and it looks like, or it feels like, it
19:10should have been like this before.
19:11Exactly.
19:11You can't remember doing anything else than what you're doing right now, so I really love that about the game.
19:17Well, I think what is nice is that Hyrule Warriors very much gave a Zelda flavor to everything.
19:23Yeah.
19:24And with Fire Emblem Warriors you can see that there's a lot of these small little nods in addition to,
19:29of course, the big systems like giving commands,
19:32having the weapon triangle, pairing up characters, that make it feel very much like you are playing something which really
19:41is heavily inspired by the Fire Emblem universe
19:43and where you find the elements that you like from a Fire Emblem game.

19:50No, I mean, you took the words out of my mouth actually because every time I played this game I
19:54always felt like this should always been there.

19:58This makes so much sense that you have all of these things that really make you feel even more like
20:04a general of a big powerful army.
20:07And all of this implementation of the Fire Emblem mechanics in the Warriors formula, I think they just fit so
20:13well.
20:13They're just very, this is a very good match of these two franchises.

20:20So I guess we can all look forward to Fire Emblem Warriors.
