00:00Iran's Football Federation is in talks with FIFA about moving its World Cup matches from the United States to Mexico.
00:08Iranian football president Mehdi Taj says discussions come amid rising security risks,
00:15as the team currently is scheduled to play group matches in Los Angeles and Seattle.
00:22Uncertainty is growing over Iran's participation in the tournament,
00:26which is set to kick off on June 11 across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
00:32U.S. President Donald Trump said last week that Iran would be welcome to participate,
00:37but suggested it may not be appropriate for them to play in the United States for their own life and
00:42safety.
00:44Iran's sport minister has also said it may not be possible for the national team to compete
00:49following ongoing U.S. and Israel military campaign against Iran.
00:53An official withdrawal would mark the first time in the modern era that a team has pulled out of the
01:00tournament.
01:01It would also force FIFA to find a replacement team at short notice.
