00:05Grazie a tutti, mortali!
00:08Per la prima volta, hear la tale
00:10di young Atreus' maedentrip
00:12into the perilous Norsewilds
00:14where malice and danger abound.
00:17Attempting to help a vulnerable creature,
00:19the boy wandered out
00:21beyond his protected woods alone.
00:24But I can't tell the whole story here, can I?
00:27You'll have to step inside.
00:34Atreus awoke to find his father missing.
00:37Not that there was anything unusual about that.
00:39Tasked with retrieving their dinner,
00:41Kratos would often take leave on day-long hunts.
00:44Why it took all day, Atreus never fully understood,
00:47but he knew better than to ask.
00:49After a quick breakfast,
00:51the boy got up and headed outside to practice his archery.
00:54He drew his bow taut,
00:56let his deep breath loose,
00:57and released an arrow.
00:58It sailed far beyond his target,
01:01becoming just another stick in the woods.
01:03The boy sighed.
01:05He'd have to find it later,
01:07likely when he wasn't looking for it.
01:09Determined to hit the target this time,
01:11he grabbed another arrow and focused hard.
01:14He held the string till his arm burned and let it fly.
01:17A bullseye!
01:18Well, almost.
01:20Maybe if he looked at it from a certain angle.
01:22You know.
01:23His mother called.
01:24And though he wasn't quite done yet,
01:26Atreus put his arrows down and went inside.
01:29Every day she would teach him,
01:31mostly language and archery.
01:32Honestly, the kid was pure dead brilliant,
01:35reading and writing on his own already.
01:38Today she gave him a lesson he was especially excited about.
01:41The creatures of the Norse Wilds.
01:44Berserkers.
01:45Trolls.
01:45Witches.
01:46And even the undead.
01:48After answering her son's many questions,
01:51Atreus' mother sent him back out.
01:53He fired a few arrows,
01:54missing with most of them.
01:55He wasn't a bad archer, really.
01:57But he wasn't easy on himself, either.
02:00Frustrated,
02:01the little bairn sucked off into the woods.
02:09Don't sulk yourselves.
02:11Follow the boy to the next area.
02:21Atreus climbed up and sat cradled in the branches
02:23of one of his favourite trees.
02:25On days like this,
02:27he liked to close his eyes,
02:28listen to the forest,
02:29and let his mind wander.
02:30This kind of solitude never felt lonely to him,
02:34perhaps because he could hear things others could not.
02:38Ever since he could remember,
02:39the thoughts of others,
02:41animals mostly,
02:42could intrude upon his own.
02:43He couldn't much control it,
02:45and he didn't tell his mother or father of it.
02:47But it only added to the boy's absolute captivation
02:51with what adventure might lie past his all-too-familiar woods.
02:56As Atreus craned his head in an attempt to hear even farther,
02:59a desperate cry for help crept in at the edges of his mind.
03:03Not a whisper in his ears,
03:04but rather a shout inside his skull.
03:07Atreus shot up,
03:08and as he did,
03:09heard a second voice,
03:11a call to adventure,
03:12taunting him with the promise of a hero's journey.
03:15He jumped down from the tree and ran toward the voices.
03:18They grew louder and louder,
03:20overwhelming him to the point that he halted abruptly,
03:22stumbling as his inertia nearly overtook him.
03:24He hesitated there,
03:26knowing it would displease both his parents to venture further.
03:30In response,
03:31the voices only grew more urgent,
03:33demanding his attention.
03:35The lad could barely concentrate with this cacophony filling his head.
03:40He decided to follow the cry for help.
03:42Even as he did,
03:43the other voice derided the boy,
03:45calling him a coward.
03:46But if Atreus were to disobey his parents,
03:49it would have to come with good reason.
03:50Surely, he thought,
03:52they couldn't be too upset at him
03:53for responding to a distress call.
03:55Nearly convincing himself this might be true,
03:59Atreus took a deep breath,
04:02and stepped out of the protected woods
04:04he'd known all his life
04:05into the foreboding Norse wilds.
04:13Delve deeper into the woods.
04:15Unless, of course, you're too frightened.
04:23Making his way through Midgard's unfamiliar terrain,
04:26the pained cry of a wounded doe rang out,
04:29carried on the frigid breeze.
04:31After attempting to study the patterns of nearby tree roots
04:34to use as a guide back home,
04:35he set off in the direction of the injured animal.
04:38He imagined himself as the gods from his mother's stories,
04:42travelling to distant realms on the great tree Yggdrasil.
04:45He was brave Tyr,
04:47mapping the unknown for the good of all the realms.
04:49He was the mighty Ullr,
04:51on a hunt for honour and glory.
04:53He was...
04:54lost.
04:56Completely and hopelessly so.
04:58The woods now seemed to be a repeating maze
05:00of trees and jagged boulders.
05:02His growing panic was interrupted
05:04by sharp screams of agonising pain.
05:07The wounded animal was near and in true peril.
05:11Forgetting his own dilemma,
05:12Atreus shot toward the cries of the beast,
05:14and there,
05:15in a clearing near a creek,
05:17he saw it.
05:18A wounded doe lay on the ground.
05:20The matted, blood-stained fur on its chest
05:23heaved up and down as it struggled to breathe.
05:26An arrow jutted out of its neck.
05:28But what hunter would seek an innocent doe
05:31and fail to finish it off?
05:33The animal looked Atreus straight in the eye,
05:35its pained grunts eased now
05:38as its pupils contracted.
05:39The one he had called had come.
05:43You're safe now.
05:44I'm here,
05:46Atreus said,
05:47clumsily attempting to comfort the poor soul.
05:49You can let go.
05:52The doe's strained breath became shallower.
05:55It took one final gulp of air in
05:57and ceased to move.
06:01Atreus laid his hands on the doe's heart
06:03and softly recited Norse death rites
06:05inspired by his mother's teachings.
06:09The boy sighed
06:10and his eyes drifted upward.
06:13As they did, he noticed
06:15there was far too much blood on the ground
06:17for a simple arrow wound.
06:19The red stains in the snow
06:20trailed off into the deeper brush.
06:23Atreus jumped to his feet to follow it.
06:30What horrors await
06:31at the end of the trail of blood?
06:33There's only one way to find out.
06:39The boy didn't have to go far to understand.
06:42The trail of blood didn't belong to the doe
06:44but to the hunter
06:45who now lay in pieces at Atreus' feet.
06:49The boy's stomach rolled as he took in the scene.
06:51He held his breath
06:52attempting to let the nausea pass
06:54and that's when he heard something else.
06:56Something hidden by the dark forest
06:58mere steps away and still breathing.
07:01He turned to see two creatures
07:04from his mother's stories
07:06heaving, vile, undead monsters
07:09of pure rage.
07:11Draugr.
07:13Atreus' eyes grew wide
07:14as they met the empty sockets
07:16where the Draugr's eyes were supposed to be.
07:19The larger one roared
07:20then it charged.
07:21The boy went for his quiver.
07:23He found an arrow
07:23but lost his footing.
07:25Crashing to the ground
07:26the Draugr rushed ever closer.
07:28The larger one plucked Atreus from the ground.
07:30the monster bellowed
07:32spraying rotten teeth
07:33and flaps of decaying gums.
07:35Its half tongue flailed blindly
07:38like the death throes of a headless snake.
07:40It was...
07:41disgusting!
07:44In desperation
07:45Atreus stabbed out with his arrow
07:47again and again and again
07:49and by pure chance
07:50he connected
07:51striking the Draugr
07:52through a hole in its skull.
07:54The monster dropped him
07:55as he continued to scream and stab.
07:57The boy was lucky
07:59but there was no time to celebrate.
08:01As the second Draugr
08:02raised his blade
08:03Atreus shot an arrow.
08:05It exploded against the Draugr's sword
08:07shattering it to pieces.
08:08Quicker than the boy could react
08:10a shard of the blade
08:11sliced into his arm.
08:12He yelled out in torturous pain!
08:15But as the Draugr drew in
08:17for the final kill
08:17Atreus wasn't afraid anymore.
08:20He was angry.
08:22The blinding pain
08:23turned to white-hot rage
08:25as his ears pounded.
08:26his vision glazed
08:28to pure rage.
08:29As the creature
08:30bellowed with fury
08:31so did Atreus
08:32two warriors
08:33with nothing left
08:34but anger and pain.
08:36The last thing the boy saw
08:37before the world went black
08:38was a ghostly white hand
08:40grabbing the Draugr
08:41by its throat.
08:42A small quiet question
08:44escaped Atreus' lips
08:45before he fell unconscious.
08:47Father?
08:48Father?
08:50Father?
08:56ما?
09:02Father?
09:13Father?
09:14Father?
09:18See you
09:20next time? Astorumogenic.
09:21Father? hope is
09:21Ghost in Bulgree
09:22Globe! twenty-year
09:36Grazie a tutti.
