00:04An all-star roster of Mario Series favorites is ready to rally in full-blown tennis battles using their most
00:11tactical tricked-out shots ever.
00:15Mario Tennis Aces
00:17There are more than 15 playable characters, each with their own distinct characteristics.
00:23The varied playstyles on the Nintendo Switch system allow up to four players to step onto the court together.
00:31Today we'll mainly cover the essentials of the refined tennis gameplay.
00:37There's a variety of shots to serve up, like a basic shot, top spin, slice, and a log that'll zoom
00:48over your opponent's head, just to name a few.
00:55Why not aim and then shoot?
00:59Introducing the all-new Zone Shot.
01:03It lets you pinpoint any spot you want to aim at using motion controls, and send the ball crashing down.
01:12Zone Shots are really powerful, so if you get hit by one, your racket will take some damage.
01:20If your racket takes three hits, it'll break, forcing you to forfeit if it's your last one.
01:26It's an instant KO!
01:27Hi, baby!
01:31But don't give up hope. You can stop a Zone Shot with a block.
01:35Return a shot with perfect timing, and you'll block, protecting your racket.
01:44It's no small feat to nail the timing just right.
01:48That's where Zone Speed comes into play.
01:52When using Zone Speed, the world around you moves in slow motion, allowing you to perform incredible feats, like chasing
02:00down a quick shot.
02:00It's no instant win card, but it makes it a bit easier to block powerful Zone Shots.
02:08Of course, you can't just spam Zone Shots and Zone Speed the whole match.
02:14You can only initiate these moves by using up some of your Energy Gauge.
02:21The Energy Gauge slowly fills up the longer you keep a rally going.
02:26But the fastest way to fill up your gauge is with the new Trick Shot.
02:34If a ball gets away from you, you can jump over to knock it back.
02:39It's a risky maneuver. If you don't judge the timing or distance correctly, you may waste your energy or lose
02:46a point.
02:48But if you're successful, your Energy Gauge will get a big boost.
02:55Fill up your gauge, and it's go time.
02:58Initiate your ultimate shot, the Special Shot.
03:02It will eat up your Energy in a big way, but this thing can really turn your tide.
03:07It may even destroy your opponent's racket in one hit.
03:11However, not even a Special Shot guarantees a win.
03:15There's always a chance it could be blocked, so watch out.
03:18In these intense matches, every move you make presents a risk, and hopefully, a reward.
03:24Your Energy Gauge could be the key to victory.
03:28Will you use it for an offensive Zone Shot?
03:31Or use it for some defensive Zone Speed?
03:37Let's say you go for the Zone Shot.
03:39Will you go for a Surefire Point?
03:41Or will you try to destroy your opponent's racket and run the risk of getting blocked?
03:46Why do you run the risk?
03:46No, no!
03:50Non-stop split-second strategies may be the best part about Mario Tennis Aces.
03:57Purists, rejoice.
03:59You can also play using simple rules, which means only basic shots are allowed.
04:07Once you connect online, you can play a match with your friends or other players.
04:13Events and online tournaments will be held allowing you to compete against other players.
04:19Matchmaking is based on your record during the event.
04:22As a participation bonus, you can get special outfits or even additional characters.
04:28There's also swing mode, which allows you to use your Joy-Con like a tennis racket.
04:35Forehand, backhand, slice, and lock.
04:42This mode is perfect if you want to play the game casually with your friends and family, or just get
04:47your body moving.
05:00The game offers a refined approach to tennis gameplay, focusing on deep strategic chaos.
05:06Plus, the story mode will offer other twists to the good old game of tennis.
05:22Mario Tennis Aces launches June 22nd.
05:28Oh, and one last thing. As we approach the game's launch, we decided to hold...
05:33a pre-launch online tournament.
05:36That way, you can try out Mario Tennis Aces for yourself.
