Quarto episodio del diario degli sviluppatori dedicato al survival game Memories of Mar. Questa volta si parla delle meccaniche di costruzione della base.

00:11BASE BUILDING
00:13Base building is a fundamental part of Mars
00:15and it's never been easier
00:17Pressing B on our keyboard
00:19we open up the building menu
00:21From here the player will be able to see
00:23everything they have currently learned
00:24in terms of structural pieces
00:26as well as player made devices
00:28Always starting with a foundation
00:30the player simply clicks which piece they'd like to place
00:32see a preview of the piece
00:35in our window to the right hand side
00:36and click place
00:38Once we have clicked place
00:39we will now see a wireframe version
00:42of the foundation that we have chosen
00:44and have free choice as to where we wish to place it
00:47As long as the wireframe remains blue
00:49we simply left click and place
00:51If our wireframe turns red
00:53it means that we cannot place our chosen piece
00:56perhaps due to the distance from the ground
00:58something physically blocking the spot
01:00or even the vicinity of NPC buildings
01:03and other player bases
01:05From here we need to switch to our building tool
01:07With that equipped we make sure we're close enough to our foundation
01:11and make sure we have the required resources in our inventory
01:15You'll notice the widget in the middle of our screen
01:17This informs the player of how much is left to build
01:20the total resources required to build the piece
01:23and in brackets our actual remaining resources that are in our inventory
01:29Here we see the player finishing their wall section
01:33Once completed they've moved on to building a storage container
01:36with the stasis chamber having already been previously built
01:39and completed to their left hand side
01:43Finally they hit the finishing touches to the blast furnace
01:46and the core features of their player base is complete
01:50Remember, the larger the base you build
01:52and the more devices you attach to it
01:54the larger your upkeep costs will be
01:56This is where having a specialised architect player
01:59will become invaluable
02:01These players will not only be able to bring with them
02:03unique devices and structural pieces
02:05but skills and abilities to help mitigate upkeep costs
02:09and reduce materials required for repairs and maintenance
02:14That's all there is to it for base building
