00:45When I auditioned for Chopper, I didn't know who he was.
00:49It said an ugly little forest creature,
00:51so I had created a little character already
00:54just based off his description.
00:55Then when we started getting in the booth,
00:58the directors and producers,
00:59we found common ground on how we kind of all wanted him to sound.

01:09And I'm not a raccoon.
01:10I was a reindeer.

01:18and at the same time doing facial capture.

01:22So Michaela's emotions and her facial performance
01:25will be driving the 3D model.
01:27Getting to see the little facial expressions
01:30that I make in him is the coolest thing ever.
01:33She just captures Chopper's vulnerability
01:35in such a genuine, heart-rending way.

01:39we knew we needed something on set
01:41for everyone to play off of.
01:42We have this Chopper stuffy,
01:44and then we have our Chopper proxy,
01:47which is Mkone.
01:48She's an actress
01:49and she's the one that's acting in the scenes with us.

01:55I wore a one-piece suit,
01:58shin pads, knee pads,
01:59the skeleton of the hat,
02:00not the actual hat,
02:02and a GoPro,
02:03which captures footage
02:04that will go onto Chopper's eyes
02:06for his reflections.
02:07It really is so special
02:09to get to have an actual person there with us
02:12to kind of capture the emotion
02:14and the feeling of these scenes.

02:20It's been an interesting process,
02:21but it's been like working with any other actor,
02:24which is the best way to do it.

02:28My name is Tony Tony Chopper.
02:31When Chopper transforms,
02:32he transforms into Chopper Heavy Point.
02:35That's played by Gavin Gomes.
02:36When he puts on the suit,
02:38he's like such a special thing to watch walk around.
02:41There's no CGI.
02:42Whereas other things,
02:43we have more visual effects on them
02:44and you kind of have to picture it in the room.
02:46He walks around as Heavy Point Chopper.
02:48It is the most fun I've had in a project.
02:51Wearing the suit is challenging
02:52and all the elements that come with it.
02:54That part of my fingers,
02:55that is me.
02:56And everything else is covered.
02:57There's contact lenses,
02:58there's teeth,
02:58there's the suit,
02:59there's prosthetics.

03:02The suit is designed by Yaku Snemon.
03:04It's done an incredible job.
03:05For Tony Tony Chopper's muscle suit,
03:07we started with a scan of Gavin
03:10and then we 3D printed molds
03:11and cast all the muscle groups separately,
03:14assembled all of this onto a mannequin
03:16and covered it with fur.
03:18The whole system just works incredibly.
03:20Come on out, reindeer.
03:21Let's go be pirates together.
03:24I would love to be a pirate with you all.
03:26But I can't.
03:27Chopper represents the part of a lot of people
03:31that really just want to be seen and accepted
03:33and loved for who they are.
03:35He's the character that a lot of us can relate to
03:37and I am so excited for everyone
03:38to meet Chopper this season.
