00:02Hey folks, this is Ken from Freebird Games
00:04and I got a bit of To The Moon news for ya
00:08right in the title
00:10but yeah, so after a couple of years of hard work by a team of awesome people
00:18we can finally say that To The Moon will get a major animated feature film
00:25and it will be a collaborative project between Japan and China
00:31with China doing most of the funding and Japan doing most of the production
00:35now I can't, at this point I can't say
00:39I'm not allowed to say which specific companies are involved
00:43but I can say that they're pretty major, you know, pretty big players in the animation industry
00:50and those who are familiar with the animation industry would probably have heard of them
00:57now the whole thing is facilitated by Ultron World
01:00and while you may not have heard of the company yet
01:04but the CEO of the company is actually the catalyst for bringing the film Your Name to China
01:14you know, at this point what I am allowed to say is that the budget cleared for the project is
01:22actually pretty significant
01:25it's at, or rather actually I'm told above the level for the budget for Your Name
01:32and you know, for a film of its category that's pretty great
01:39now, does a good budget guarantee a good film?
01:43not necessarily
01:45but the lack of a budget certainly doesn't help
01:49so, we're off to a good ground here
01:53with, you know, with all these projects
01:56there's always a bit of a risk
01:57and I can't imagine, like, you know, for me it's a mix of excitement and nervousness
02:04because, you know, things could go great
02:07things could go not so great
02:09but with all types of, you know, projects like these
02:14if you don't try, you don't know
02:17and if I don't, if I didn't take the risk back then
02:20to the moon wouldn't even exist
02:22so, all we can say, all I can say
02:25is that we'll try our best to keep the original soul of the game intact
02:32and, you know, for me personally
02:34I'll actually have a role in the script writing and editing and supervising process as well
02:42while I won't have absolute say over the project, obviously
02:46but, I will be able to help steer it in the right direction
02:52now, you know, the way I see the adaptions
02:59the way I see, like, what makes a good adaption is that
03:03a good adaption has the heartbeat of the original
03:08but it also has to have a mind of its own
03:13because I've seen a lot of adaptions go right and go wrong
03:16and the ones that go wrong sometimes, you know, the obvious mistake is to stray too far from the original
03:22and lose its way
03:23but, there's also been, I've also seen a lot of cases where
03:29they try to make it so much exactly beat by beat to the original source material
03:35that it doesn't work out because of the medium differences
03:42you know, so, even with something like To The Moon
03:45and, which, by video game standards
03:48it's actually not that interactive
03:51and it's pretty linear
03:54which sets a good ground for this adaption of, into an animated film
03:59but, you'd be surprised at how, how much, like, the little subtle interactions
04:06even just the process of walking
04:09affects the beats and the pacing
04:12and the overall player experience of the story
04:15so, to get the similar experience
04:19and achieve the same thing
04:20and tell the same story effectively
04:24we will definitely need to play it by ear
04:27and do things in ways that work for the medium
04:34so, for me, like, really, it's really about just convening an experience
04:38it's about convening a feeling
04:41it's about convening that
04:43what you feel at the end
04:44with the credit just before the credit starts to roll
04:48and now to clarify
04:49I'm still making games
04:51and that's my main thing
04:54I tell stories through games
04:56and as I was saying, I think, on Twitter recently
05:01I just started more actively working on the next game
05:06and for, you know, for those who played Finding Paradise
05:09you would probably get a gist that
05:13things are gonna get pretty weird from here on
05:16so, that'll be fun
05:20you know
05:22anyhow, I just wanna say also that
05:24thank you all so much for supporting To The Moonland
05:26the whole series
05:28I know this gets thrown around a lot
05:31but
05:32for something like
05:33an indie game
05:38it's
05:40unfathomable to me
05:41that
05:43you know, that there would be
05:46you know, that it would get here
05:50you know, so
05:51and that's
05:54that's all thanks to you guys
05:55so
05:56had it not been for you
05:57it really
05:58it really
05:59really wouldn't be where it is
06:01either the game
06:01or the
06:02this development
06:03or anything else
06:06and
06:06even just for
06:08me
06:09as a person
06:10I suppose
06:12so
06:12yeah
06:17thank you for
06:18thank you for your support
06:19and
06:20thanks for being a part of it
06:24take care guys

06:26look forward to updating you on the progress
06:28and
