Trascrizione
00:13The Witcher World is back.
00:19Your Majesty, graces.
00:22Nilfgaards cross the Yoruga.
00:25Black-clad hordes.
00:27Villages burn.
00:29Folk lie murdered.
00:30Welcome to the official gameplay walkthrough for Thronebreaker The Witcher Tales,
00:34a brand new RPG adventure set in the dark and brutal universe of The Witcher.
00:38My name is Pavel Bourgeois, I'm the community manager at CD Projekt Red,
00:41as well as your humble guide in today's video.
00:43The story of Thronebreaker is set before the events of the first Witcher game,
00:47during the second Nilfgaardian invasion,
00:49and follows the story of Meve, a war veteran queen of Lyria and Rivia.
00:54The gameplay you're about to see takes place near the beginning of the game.
00:56After returning home, Queen Meve finds that not all has been well during her absence,
01:00and an Nilfgaardian invasion on her kingdom is all but imminent.
01:05Reynard, I've seen Nilfgaard's trebuchets at work.
01:08Should we delay until we're stronger, they'll leave no stone standing in Dravagrad.
01:14We must ride for the town at once.
01:16Without further ado, let's dive into the tale, shall we?
01:21In the interest of time, and to avoid some nasty spoilers,
01:24we'll skip right to the moment when the queen and her retinue arrive at the castle of Dravagrad.
01:29However, do know that Lyria is by no means a small kingdom,
01:32and there will be much along the way that will ask for your attention, and sometimes require it.
01:35Father Mill was in flames.
01:38Tears welled in her eyes.
01:41Yet they were tears of anger.
01:45Bastards.
01:46If it's war they seek, it's war I should win.
01:50Reynard, prepare to ride!
01:57Look at the palisades.
01:59The machines of war. Too many to count.
02:02I cannot fathom it.
02:04Has Nilfgaard sent all its forces into Lyria?
02:07No, Your Grace.
02:09For a single army.
02:11Gods protect us.
02:14The queen uttered a juicy curse.
02:18Dravagrad stood before them, Nilfgaardians all round it.
02:21three, perhaps four, battalions of armoured infantry.
02:25Arbalists and cavalry behind them.
02:28Trebuchet volleys had punched holes in the walls,
02:31while battering rams had twisted the main gate open.
02:34But elsewise, the city was mere moments from falling to the fold.
02:41Doomed!
02:42We stand not a chance.
02:44Nilfgaard outnumbers us twofold.
02:46More!
02:47Then our men must put double the spirit into the fight.
02:49Double the heart!
02:52Lyria!
02:53Emboldened by their valiant queen and commander,
02:56the Lyrians charged headlong at Nilfgaard's lines
02:59into a hail of bolts and arrows.
03:05Alright, we're heading into battle.
03:06In Thronebreaker's story-driven battles,
03:08your army, as well as that of your opponents,
03:10is represented by cards,
03:12with commanders overlooking the battlefield.
03:14We can replace a certain number of units
03:15to take into combat with us before each battle.
03:18Let's do that now.
03:28The battlefield is divided into two sides,
03:30with each side consisting of two rows, melee and ranged.
03:33You can send any unit onto any row,
03:35but keep in mind,
03:36placing some units on specific rows will grant them special bonuses,
03:40as well as the ability to attack units otherwise unreachable.
03:43Battles are divided into rounds,
03:45and rounds into turns.
03:46In order to win,
03:46you will be required to either outright defeat your opponent,
03:49overpower the enemy's forces by gaining more points,
03:52or meet other special requirements.
03:54I'm coming, I'm coming.
03:55Many units come equipped with powerful abilities.
03:58Some, like the Warwagon,
03:59will summon additional units onto the battlefield.
04:01Other may rain down arrows on enemy forces, for example,
04:04or cover the battlefield in devastating magic.
04:06Your most powerful weapon, however,
04:08will always be skill, strategy, and wits,
04:10which will allow you to overcome
04:12even the most unfavorable of odds.
04:38There's a finite number of units you can place on each row,
04:41something to keep in mind when sending your forces into battle.
04:44Using the Wagenberg's ability,
04:45we're able to attack the enemy's range row
04:47and deal a powerful blow to the enemy,
04:49but sacrificing the unit's defenses in return.
05:14The enemy has decided not to send more troops against us for now.
05:18Let's play another unit to gain the advantage.
05:27This should do.
05:29Time to pass.
05:35All right, it seems we've managed to fend off the enemy forces,
05:38but the battle is far from won.
05:41Between rounds, you'll draw additional cards,
05:43which again, you'll be able to exchange if you wish.
05:57The enemy is weakened, but not for long.
05:59Reinforcements are underway.
06:01Let's prepare to summon some of our own.
06:05Again and again.
06:06The regiment drummer's order ability
06:08allows us to call blitz units into battle
06:10directly from our deck,
06:11greatly improving our odds of winning.
06:36Commanders also come with their own sets of abilities
06:38and we've just used Meeves to deal damage to the enemy.
06:41Should you choose to use her ability on friendly units, this would boost their strength and defenses.
06:46As you continue your journey, you'll discover new weapons Meeves can equip.
06:49Each one grants her a different ability.
07:11All right, sir.
07:24Time I saw you some respect.
07:43Reynard's ability allows units with order abilities already on the board to use them again.
07:47It's a very powerful skill which can turn the tide of battle, especially if you use it at the right
07:51time.
07:56The battle is looking good, we've got the advantage, but we shouldn't let our guard down.
08:00The Empire of Nilfgaard is a powerful adversary and should be feared always,
08:04especially since the enemy still has many units at their disposal.
08:07Off to the front yet again.
08:16What do you want of me?
08:19I can't take it anymore.
08:33There's a time to reap, a time to sow, and a time to die.
09:02This is it, time to see if we manage to build up enough strength to overpower the enemy.
09:08I can't take it anymore.
09:09Off to the front yet again.
09:16Quiet, or the Commissar will hear.
09:24Yes?
09:30Nessela Seifel!
09:53Nilfgaard is retreating and we've managed to take back Dravagrad. Let's see how this impacts the story.
09:57The Nilfgaardians fled in panic, abandoning war machines, shields, and arms, even their wounded.
10:05The defenders rejoiced. They laughed boisterously, and cries of delight and chanting could be heard all around.
10:13Warrior Queen, they shouted. Meave! Meave! Meave!
10:18Hear that, Your Grace.
10:22I do. No sound rings more lovely to a ruler's ear.
10:27Yet rest on our laurels, we cannot.
10:29Caldwell. The situation in the town. What can you tell me?
10:33The wall breached. Thrice.
10:36Four hundred wounded, near a thousand without roofs over their heads.
10:40All nothing compared to the grain stalls. Went up in smoke during the siege.
10:46And it's some time yet afore the harvest.
10:49Your Grace.
10:50The war's just begun, I know.
10:53All coins should bolster the army, yet if we leave the folk of Dravagrad no gold,
10:58there will be hunger.
11:00With all the attendant dissonance.
11:02Throughout the story, you will be tasked with making many difficult choices.
11:05These will not only determine the kind of ruler Meave becomes, but also the fates of her people and closest
11:10ones.
11:11The drought of 1258 I remember all too well.
11:14I saw famine. What it drives folk to do. The extremes.
11:19A strong army I need desperately, yet not at all costs.
11:24The townsfolk need gold to survive till the harvest.
11:27Count how much, then give it to the garrison commander.
11:30As you command, Your Grace.
11:33The battle we've won, there's just the war that remains.
11:36And Nilfgaard will strike again, doubt it not.
11:39We must move on.
11:42Caldwell, ride ahead to Lyria.
11:44My son must call a gathering of the Council of Peers.
11:47Tell him so. We'll have much to discuss.
11:50Reynaud and I will follow with the troops.
11:52We shall seek out any Nilfgaardian stragglers.
11:54Prevent them from rejoining the main force.
11:56Some immediate, some far-reaching.
11:58Eventually a time will come when you have to deal with the consequences of the decisions you make.
12:02She was hungry, sore from the fight, and spent.
12:07Yet sensing her soldier's eyes upon her, she set off for the stable.
12:11Her gait brisk, her head held high.
12:14The world of Thronebreaker is a living and breathing one,
12:17and will react to your actions, as well as your presence.
12:40It seems we've stumbled upon a side quest. Let's go and investigate.
12:45Horns sounded.
12:47Meave recognized them at once as those of the Lyrian vanguard.
12:50She drew her sword and prepared to face the invader.
12:54Yet coming down upon her force were not Nilfgaardians,
12:58but bearded warriors clad in leather, horned helmets on their heads.
13:03This... this was not so.
13:06The Queen could not believe her eyes.
13:08Skelligan raiders.
13:09This far inland.
13:11But this was no time to be bewildered.
13:13Meave spurred her horse.
13:15It neighed and reared, and then the twain leapt into the fray.
13:22Looks like we're being attacked by Skellige.
13:24Islander folk of Viking-like warriors who cherish combat above all.
13:32Unlike the one at Dravagrad, this battle is shortened and will only last one round.
13:36Otherwise, the rules remain the same.
13:38Either overpower the enemy's forces, or defeat their commander, Lippy Goodman.
13:52Lippy will duel the most powerful unit on the battlefield at the end of every turn.
13:56Every time this happens, Lippy will lose strength equal to the strength of the unit he dueled.
14:03Let us put our steel to the test!
14:22The enemy is strong and we've got a limited number of cards available to us.
14:26Let's use the field medic to bring back one of the fallen units onto the battlefield.
14:41Fortunately for us, at the heat of battle, Lippy might sometimes attack his own men.
14:45Skellige can be strange and scary people sometimes, but you can't say they haven't got guts.
15:02We'll ransack your temples! Wipe ourselves on your vestments!
15:16The spirits willing and how but these damn boots are killing me!
15:21Delirion Sideman's unwavering loyalty in combination with the unit's passive ability
15:26increases its strength every time Meeve uses her ability, just like now.
15:38Army's a waste of time for one like me.
15:49Cards are blowing fair winds the day!
16:21We've already used up the ability of both of our regiment drummers,
16:24but we could really use more of it in this battle.
16:27Let's use Raynard to reactivate it and then call for support.
16:46The light infantry's order ability allows it to switch rows at our command.
16:50For example, to free up some space and fit more units in a particular row,
16:54or trigger another unit's ability.
16:56we can't wait to run out of any such damage but our ability to gain the power of enemies.
17:10Blue Goals will be bursting with rage!
17:23Lippie's starting to lose steam, but we're almost out of cards.
17:26It's going to be close.
17:35You've got stones, Wendt!
17:38Take that treasure!
17:40Tear your gullet off with it!
17:55I'm of all set.
18:06Olga Blackhand's taking on new swabbies.
18:09What do you say?
18:28You want to pass, you've got to pay.
18:29Got him.
18:30Can't let you through elsewhere.
18:38The Skalagars fought hard, fought bravely, brought mayhem.
18:43Yet the Queen's ordered, disciplined force won the day.
18:48The islanders seemed entirely undismayed at their defeat.
18:51A trait of theirs, I must admit, I've ever admired.
19:03Despite the circumstances of our meeting, Lippie could greatly aid our fight against Nilfgaard.
19:07Let's see if we can get him to help our cause.
19:09That we shall yet see, sir.
19:11We must know something first.
19:12What brings you this far inland?
19:15What drove you from the sea?
19:16Meave asked, crossing her arms.
19:18Ha!
19:19What always drives us, looting and penitent?
19:22The coasts picked clean since long, so we set our longships up the Aruga for gold and glory!
19:28Amusing.
19:29I always assumed you to be honourable folk.
19:32And who dares to claim elsewise?
19:36Your very actions do so.
19:38You've attacked a land preoccupied.
19:41A land already at war with invaders.
19:43But I suppose it makes sense.
19:45You've ever feared to attack Imperials?
19:48The Queen prodded gently.
19:49What did you say, wench?
19:51Goodmund had quickly turned red with rage.
19:53I prove just how wrong you are, I will!
19:56Why, we'll be drinking mead from Nilfgaardian helmets for sundown!
20:00Follow me, lads!
20:01Meave smiled as she watched the islanders gather their gear and prepare to march.
20:06She doubted, not in the least, that Goodmund would honour his pledge.
20:10We've managed to get the Skellige party on our side.
20:13The battle has also left us with some loot, gold and raw materials,
20:16which we can use to upgrade and customise our army and war camp.
20:19Time is of the essence if we are to stop the Nilfgaardian invasion.
20:22Let's move.
20:24On their way to the capital, Meave and company happened one fine day upon a lone rider.
20:31Had I been at her side, I would immediately have recognised his passionate gaze
20:36and altogether chivalrous mien.
20:40As you traverse the world of Thronebreaker,
20:42you'll come across many interesting characters, friend and foe alike.
20:45Dinell I am dubbed, and my design I never conceal.
20:50The good book says the world is a garden which the gods once conferred upon man,
20:56and we men have this garden neglected.
20:59In consequence, all manner of filth has made its lair here.
21:03Drowners, ghouls, and other kobolds.
21:08I have sworn ne'er to rest until the day when, with the gods' help,
21:12I have rid the world of these beasts and pests.
21:16I wander all lands, seeking out evil, and facing it in mortal combat.
21:29We could end our conversation with Ake and continue exploring, but he seems intriguing.
21:34How goes your hunt? Caught the trail of any monster?
21:39Monster? Too fair a term by far.
21:43An exceptionally vile worm has made its lair in nearby caverns.
21:47It is said to be the very distillation of filth.
21:50A slither in horror. A melange of the macabre.
21:55Its head, that of a wild cat of Ophiel.
21:59Its moor full of spiked teeth.
22:01The wings of a bat, it is said to have.
22:04The tail of a scorpion, and from it, a thick venom drips.
22:09Learned men call this variety a manticore, or mardiacore.
22:15Perhaps it will be most prudent, then, to send for a witcher.
22:19A witcher?
22:22Soulless automatons they are, all.
22:25Feeding on common folk spheres.
22:27What they demand gold to do, I perform without demand of any coin.
22:34Sreik, far be it from me to discourage you.
22:38Your endeavor is noble, no doubt.
22:40But from what I have heard,
22:42manticores are exceedingly dangerous beasts.
22:46To defeat this filth alone could be a difficult task, I'll not deny.
22:50Yet try it, I must.
22:52For it is what I have sworn before the gods.
22:57Perhaps there's an opportunity here to gain a new ally.
22:59Let's see if we can help each other out.
23:01We shall help you find and fight the manticore.
23:04Provided you then pledge to help us fight an even fiercer and filthier beast.
23:10Of course, my lady.
23:12Yet what manner of horror is it?
23:14A vipper?
23:15A griffin?
23:16A drake of some rare form?
23:19Were it only.
23:21Tis a beast of a thousand heads,
23:24covered in black armor,
23:25its fire consuming whole villages.
23:29Noble lady.
23:30I know bestia is only in parts,
23:34yet I've seen some of the world,
23:36and never have I heard of such a terror.
23:40You need but look about you,
23:42and spot Nilfgaard's legions.
23:47Devastating.
23:48But you must forgive me, your grace,
23:50this struggle between realms is not one to which I can lay a hand.
24:00A manticore.
24:02How great is its appetite?
24:05How many men does it fell, in a moon, let us say?
24:08It changes.
24:10At a time when the horror broods,
24:13it may be as many as twenty.
24:15I see.
24:16As now you must.
24:19Nilfgaard in my capital
24:20could mean as many as twenty thousand felled.
24:24You live to fight evil, injustice, do you not?
24:27You can fight none greater than by doing so at my side.
24:32The manticore, your grace, must fall first.
24:36As to what happens later,
24:38I shall need to consult the good book,
24:41and petition the gods.
24:43Agreed, so be it.
24:45This monster.
24:47Where lies its lair?
24:48Where does it prowl?
24:50To the north, my queen.
24:52A few leagues on.
24:57Let's head north and find the manticore's lair Sirk-Aig spoke of.
25:03Not a scrap.
25:05Nothing to bury.
25:07Blood's all that's left behind.
25:08Before we continue,
25:09there's a notice board here we can interact with.
25:13Notice boards add new markers to the world map,
25:15revealing a variety of points of interest.
25:17These, among others, include side quests, challenges, treasures, resource locations.
25:22Some we've already discovered, and many more will appear as we continue exploring.
25:30Illyria is just the first of five kingdoms you'll make your way through in Thronebreaker.
25:38All right, let's get back to the task ahead and head towards the manticore's lair.
25:45Tis in these ravines.
25:47The beast is near.
25:49I sense it.
25:52At the furthest depth of the winding, gloomy canyon, scouts found the moor of a great cavern.
26:00Among the boulders outside it, whitening bones lay strewn.
26:05Ake dismounted and drew his blade.
26:07By the god's grace, we've found the beast's lair, he said, lifting his gaze to the heavens.
26:14We need them but to extend their favor as we battle the filth.
26:23Meave cast a critical eye at her shield.
26:25Wood clad in leather and thin plate.
26:28Enough to stop a sword, certainly, but would it protect her from a beast's raging blow?
26:34Noticing her hesitation, Raynard approached the queen and said,
26:38Your Grace, none will utter a disparaging word should you step back.
26:43But they will think them, replied Meave.
26:45And that's bad enough.
26:46The war has begun.
26:48I can't appear weak to my fighting men.
26:50Without awaiting an answer, Meave strode into the cave.
26:54The rest of the company followed, equally full of fear and faith in their queen and commander.
27:01Moments later, a great and powerful roar filled the cavern.
27:17We'll need to defeat the manticore within a single round.
27:20This time, however, we're facing a powerful monster.
27:22The only way to win is to kill it.
27:29This setup looks good.
27:31Let's begin.
27:33And I beheld the beast.
27:36Profane horns dits to dawn his wicked brow.
27:40The manticore is built out of six cars, each with its own strength and ability.
27:44To kill the beast, we'll need to destroy its head and do it fast.
27:47The manticore's claws are sharp and its tail is laced with deadly poison.
27:51Each of the monster's attacks will be devastating in consequences.
27:54I'm cool.
27:55To wear its claws.
27:57The hardest plate they shred like fine vellum.
28:02Oh, Lirian Lummixes.
28:09Meave's attack was not strong enough to damage the manticore's head,
28:12but did end up wounding the beast's wings.
28:15We'll have to find another way to attack the monster's weak point directly.
28:24Army's a waste of time for one like me.
28:34This harvest will be reaping black clad heads.
28:41You can try to win them all, but you won't.
28:48Every time our units receive damage,
28:50Sir Akes, a resolve to defeat the manticore, grows and with it, denies strength.
28:53This gives us a fighting chance, but only if we survive long enough.
29:04Can't take it anymore.
29:28We suffered a massive blow.
29:29The beast has obliterated five of our units, but it also seems that the confrontations have cost the beast one
29:34of its wings.
29:34As well as damage its weak point.
29:36My spirit's willing to halvek, these dumb boots are killing me.
29:56The manticore is about to strike with its tail, which is able to kill our unit instantly.
30:00This will cost us.
30:05Another attack is incoming.
30:07We could destroy the monster's wing, but we won't change the fact that our units will take damage.
30:36We must trust each other.
30:38We must trust each other.
30:40There's a time to reap, a time to sow, and a time to die.
30:58Let's send out Illyrian Arbalest and have it attack the beast's head.
31:01This should put it in rage of Sir Ake's attack.
31:15Time to finish this.
31:17Prepare to fight if you've any honor.
31:21We must thank the gods for this victory both great and just.
31:34With Ake at their side, the Lyrians fell the manticore.
31:39Later it was said the beast's dying wail, multiplied and strengthened as it passed through the caverns, could be heard
31:46as far as Spala.
31:49Your grace. Many monarchs have I met in my time, yet none proved as virile in battle as did your
31:56majesty.
32:00Virile? I dislike the term. Seemed not to suit a woman. I prefer valiant. Yet grateful I am for the
32:08compliment.
32:10Now pray reveal. Have you made your decision? Will you swear to serve me? Are you prepared to take an
32:16oath?
32:17I am not, your grace. I can serve only the gods. Yet, I do believe them to be on your
32:25side as one unjustly and treacherously attacked. Thus I see nothing wrong in assisting you.
32:35Then I am content and welcome you in my ranks, Sir Ake of Danelle.
32:40The knight errant bowed low from waste. The manticore is defeated and we get to live another day and Sir
32:45Ake decided to join us.
32:46That's a win. I'll bait a costly one.
32:48Let's head into our war camp and check out the state of our army and see how we can improve
32:52it for the battles to come.
32:56Most camp buildings can be upgraded in your workshop. Seeing how important it is to have your troops be at
33:00the top of their game, the training grounds sound like a good place to upgrade.
33:19In the command tent, you can recruit new and additional units as well as manage your army's composition.
33:24Defeating the manticore has earned us its trophy card, which sports quite a useful ability.
33:28Let's make some room and add it.
33:42Also, let's recruit another regiment drummer. It's been a really useful unit so far. Another one will definitely come in
33:48handy.
33:58Reynard and Ake should be in the mess tent. Let's go there now.
34:03The mess tent is where you can talk with your companions. Doing so will allow you to learn more about
34:07them and deepen your bonds, which is sure to have an effect on their performance in combat.
34:11Let's talk to Ake and see if he's settled in yet.
34:13I see you found the mess tent. How's the ale? Not too warm, I hope.
34:18Tis not for me to say, Your Majesty. My tankard holds but milk of the goat.
34:24Milk? A witless prank. I shall tell the quartermaster at once what I think of such...
34:30Unnecessary, Your Grace. I called for the beverage.
34:34Is that so? Well then.
34:39The good book states clearly. The shadow of spirits obscureth light most true, and leadeth thee from the path of
34:48virtue.
34:49Right. I suppose there's something to it.
34:54My soul sings to hear your affirmation, Your Grace. If ever you wish to discuss the good book and the
35:02wisdoms contained therein, hesitate not to find me.
35:06Certainly I shall remember that.
35:12Your crusade against monsters. Have you been at it long?
35:17Come next Bellatane, it will be twenty years, Your Grace. Though, there was one extended interruption.
35:25For what reason? Had you grown weary of the Knight Errant's life?
35:28Not in the least. Never shall I cease in my quest to cleanse the world of filth and abominations.
35:36But at times... At times evil puts up rather a good fight.
35:42I ventured forth to slay a dragon once. A gold one, as it were.
35:47Calling itself Villa Tretorneft. Or the like.
35:51Its very name, as is evident, a vile toil for the tongue and wafting wickedness.
35:58A great many mercenaries embarked on the hunt, lured by the promise of coin in heaps.
36:05The Crynford Reavers, Jaapen Zigrin, and a band of dwarves even curse the word a Witcher.
36:11One Yennefer, most lecherous sorceress at his side.
36:16Hmm, that name I've heard.
36:20But at the deciding moment, when the beast challenged all, I alone emerged to face it.
36:27Alas, though, shame burns me to admit it.
36:32I returned from the battle upon my shield. Figuratively. Literally. I returned in pieces.
36:40For two years, I lay in the temple of Melitale in Olanda. Mother Nenekei, God's protector, nursing me back to
36:48full health.
36:49And only when I could once more grip my sword, did I return to the path I'd chosen.
36:55And the dragon? What was its fate?
36:59Some claim it flew off to Zeracania. Though it very well might yet lurk here.
37:05Awaiting the opportune moment to terrorize the folk of the north.
37:09This concludes our Thronebreaker The Witcher Tales gameplay walkthrough.
37:12We hope you'll enjoy playing the game when it's out on October 23rd on PC only on GOG.com
