Hundreds joined celebrations in Gateshead for Holi, the Hindu festival of colour. Music, dance, workshops and bonfires marked the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.

00:23arrival of spring, based on the legend of Halika and her nephew Prahlad. Bonfires were lit in
00:29the evening to symbolise cleansing and renewal. Organisers from Gem Arts and the Baltic Centre
00:35said the celebration aimed to bring communities together, while sharing culture and traditions
00:40in a safe and welcoming environment for all.
