00:29We've seen Max show his talent since the beginning of the season,
00:32but the manner how he scored and how he impacted the game was pretty special.
00:37So, how proud were you of him and what's he been like since?
00:41Well, very much, obviously, to do what he did in such a moment, very rare to see or impossible almost.
00:50He's done it and now it's football.
00:52And now what you've done a few days ago is not relevant anymore, it's about the next one.
00:56And on the game tomorrow, could you just ask some fitness questions, please?
01:00So, there's no Durian Timber and Martin Odegaard in training.
01:04Are they out for tomorrow?
01:05Yes, both of them are, yeah.
01:07Leandro Trostov was back.
01:08Is he available?
01:09He's okay.
01:10He felt good, so he's available.
01:11And any other fitness issues?
01:13No, no, no any other news.
01:14And with Leverkusen, last week it was a tight game against them in Germany, a well-organised side.
01:20So, what are you expecting tomorrow?
01:22Well, very much the same and watching them play against Bayern Munich at the weekend, very similar.
01:27So, again, really well coached, a team with a very clear structure, really good individuals.
01:32If not, obviously, we are not in a stage in the competition that we are in right now.
01:36So, we know what we have to do, and in front of our crowd, with our people, putting all the
01:41energy in the world again.
01:43Hopefully, we're going to do it.
01:45Good afternoon, Miguel.
01:46I know you said you're moving on, but just reflecting on Saturday, in the six and a bit years that
01:52you've been here,
01:52can you recall anything like that feeling that you've had there?
01:58Every feeling is different.
02:00We had so many beautiful moments throughout this period.
02:03The reason one, obviously, is the one that you have more recent.
02:07That's why it's very special.
02:09But as I said, let's have another wonderful one tomorrow.
02:12I know there'll be a will probably just to keep everything calm around Max.
02:17So, with that in mind, is there anything that you've put in place,
02:22like maybe any players that you might have assigned to him, maybe mentor him?
02:25Hmm. Well, I think we have the leadership group, obviously,
02:30and certain individuals that are very close with him.
02:33The most important one is his family as well, and he's in a very good place there as well.
02:38And him, because he's used to a lot of things.
02:41He takes it very normally, and he knows that this sport is about today.
02:46Just one player I want to ask you about in relation to that.
02:49Your captain is Martin Odegaard, but he's also been a player who came through at a very, very young age
02:55as well. How important could he be to Max?
02:58Yeah, all the experiences that the players have and they can share and explain,
03:06it's very useful, because probably he's going through things that some of us in the past
03:11have been at his age. Not many, but Martin is a really good example.
03:17I know you don't tend to talk about players that aren't yours, but I want to ask you about a
03:20player
03:20that used to be yours, which is Dinos Mavropanos, who had an excellent game for West Ham
03:24and did Arsenal quite a huge favour. Could you just speak a little bit about what it was like
03:28to work with him and how thankful maybe you are for his efforts as well?
03:31Yeah, a very, very good character. A player that was signed just before I arrived as well,
03:37and they had a long-term injury as well, and he didn't get that many minutes,
03:42but good to see him doing really well, and that's it.
03:46And all the players that they've been with us, we've seen them all the best.
03:49And in all the jubilation of the game against Everton, we didn't really get to offer the opportunity
03:53for you to ask about the penalty that you didn't get in that game.
03:56And there's been a lot of talk and noise around afterwards, Kai Havertz appeared to get clipped in it,
04:00and it was reviewed very quickly. What were your thoughts on that decision?
04:03Yeah, watching it back when we were watching it live, very disappointed that we didn't get a penalty
04:08because it was very clear.
04:11James Alcate?
04:12Hi, Mikael. Just on Martin, obviously he's missed the last few games.
04:17It must be difficult for him at the moment because there's so many big games,
04:19and you've got a cup final potentially, well definitely, on Sunday against Wembley,
04:23in which he ostensibly would be leading the team out.
04:26Is he in contention for that?
04:28Yeah, so we're really pushing. He really wants to try to be unavailable,
04:32but we'll have to wait and see in the next few days when he trains with the team how he
04:36feels.
04:37We know the game that we're going to be playing in a few days again,
04:39and the more players that we have, the better.
04:42Hi, Mikael.
04:43On Saturday, you sort of seemed as passionate and as animated on the touchline as you have in a long
04:48time,
04:48sort of taking your jacket off, kicking every ball.
04:51You've spoken about the need for everyone to enjoy these months.
04:53Are you genuinely able to enjoy it?
04:55Yeah, I love those moments, and when the team needs help and the crowd is pushing there,
05:00I think in any way that we can contribute, help, support the players,
05:05give them confidence and energy, we have to be there.
05:08And I think it makes a difference, and we notice immediately.
05:11At the moment the crowd got more relaxed, more positive, the atmosphere changes,
05:16and the players start to make better decisions, and we managed to win the game.
05:20And you've had, this is, I guess, the fourth season now of you being on the touchline during a big
05:24title race.
05:24How are your emotions compared to previous seasons?
05:27Is it sort of more intense now, or how does it compare?
05:30Probably the will to win increases year by year when you've been so close as well.
05:35But, yeah, stay focused, stay, live the present, enjoy it as well,
05:41because we have to feel privileged where we are,
05:44and then obviously have that, wield that bite to make it happen.
05:49James, he is.
05:50Hi, Mikel.
05:51Hi.
05:51When we're asking about Cup Final, is there, have you got a sense of whether Durian might be available for
05:57the Cup Final?
05:57We don't know.
05:58I think with him it will be a matter of days, but I'm not sure.
06:01And, obviously, you brought on Christian when Durian came off,
06:05and I think maybe some fans and some observers would have thought that might say something about Ben White's fitness,
06:10that he might not be able to play an hour.
06:12Was that the case?
06:13And do you feel like Ben is in a position where he can start big games now?
06:17Yeah, he's in a much better place.
06:18He's been very unlucky this season in certain moments.
06:21He had very, very good moments as well throughout the season.
06:24So, yeah, we need everybody available.
06:26We know what Ben gives us when he's at his best,
06:29and he trained today, he feels good.
06:31So, we need everybody's contribution.
06:34Okay, last couple of minutes live.
06:35We'll go to James from...
06:36Hi, Mikel.
06:37Hi.
06:37Just after the first game against Leverkusen,
06:40you said that the team didn't have enough of an understanding of how to attack the block.
06:45Could you, without giving the game plan away,
06:47could you just talk a little bit more about that, what you need to do better?
06:50Yeah, especially in the first half,
06:51and especially a lot of actions that we didn't even finish the actions,
06:54and we allowed counterattacks there,
06:55which is the worst thing that we can do against them as well.
06:58So, we will step up, we will make better decisions for sure,
07:02and be more of a threat, and that's the intention.
07:05Obviously, the tie is very finely balanced.
07:07Do you think that the experience that you've had in this competition
07:10over the last couple of years will help the team handle the emotion and the occasion?
07:14A lot of factors will contribute for us to be in the quarterfinals tomorrow night after the game,
07:19and we need to put every single element that we have to be in our favour to achieve that.
07:25And just one on Max, if I can.
07:27Just after an impact like that,
07:29is your instinct to keep playing him or to protect him and pull him out?
07:33Depending on the game and how he reacts.
07:36I think his reaction has been really positive,
07:38and in relation to what we need in the game,
07:40it's always a possibility.
07:41I think he's ready to play regularly now.
07:44Yeah, regularly.
07:46Yeah, depending what you call regularly.
07:49And finally, we've got to Danny.
07:51Thank you.
07:54Afternoon, Mikel.
07:55Leibacuza in the midfield two were exceptional against you in Germany,
07:59and they seem to staff your game plan a little bit.
08:02What did they do that actually stopped you guys,
08:05and how have you looked at preventing this again?
08:07Yeah, they have a lot of quality individually in a lot of areas of the pitch.
08:11And yeah, as every team, they have their strengths, their weaknesses,
08:16and we'll try to target them.
08:18And Nani's been big in the cup competitions,
08:20coming on in Germany, winning the penalty.
08:23Do you think it's just his character to come on in the big moments,
08:25or is it just him repaying the faith that you put in him to come on and do the big
08:29things?
08:30No, I think Nani's got the personality,
08:32especially when things are difficult to step in,
08:36and make an aggressive decision,
08:38and obviously it has the quality to deliver for sure.
08:41Okay, guys, that finishes the Az live.
08:43We'll now go to 10.30 tonight.
08:45Sam, for anything?
08:46Hi, Mikel.
08:46Hi.
08:47Just on the kind of emotional...
