Iranian female football players are safe in Kuala Lumpur, and are expected to travel to alternative destinations as they are unable to return to Iran immediately, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John said on Monday (March 16).

00:06We have spoken to the team officials, we have spoken to the coaches, the head of
00:10delegation, they are actually in high spirits, you know, they are not demotivated, they are
00:16not, I personally met them, they are not demotivated or they didn't look afraid,
00:23they, you know, they are waiting for instructions from the Federation.
00:28We have our staff standby with them providing all the support so we are now, right now, waiting
00:34for them to tell us and they are waiting for the Federation to connect with them to say
00:41what they are going to do with them.
00:43As you know, travel is not possible back to Iran so they would need to find alternative
00:51travels if and when they want to leave Palo Lumpur.
00:54They don't have to leave Malaysia if they don't want to.
00:57I think they are happy here, they have no problems here, if they fly, they fly to the
01:02next destination where the Federation is waiting.
01:04I don't know where, I am not sure if it is Iran or somewhere else but another place where
01:11probably closer to home but not home yet because there are no flights, it could be anywhere.
