00:05and they're like, you can play lead guitar!
00:06And I was like,
00:08I don't have to play lead guitar.
00:09And they're like, that's okay,
00:10we don't know how to play anything either,
00:12so let's just do it.
00:15What about the Lunachicks?
00:21When I first heard of the Lunachicks,
00:23I was like, what is this?
00:25They were tough, they were dirty, gritty.
00:28They were punks, they were rock chicks,
00:29and they had attitude.
00:31Can't wipe out all our progress.
00:34We played our first show, I think, when we were 18.
00:37I was so angry and nowhere to put it.
00:40Getting on that mic and feeling the power.
00:42I remember feeling, finally, free.
00:47She can sing, she can do most anything.
00:50She is a jerk, the jerk of the train.
00:52The Lunachicks tapped into every girl's desire
00:55to take down the patriarchy.
00:59Young women could be at the front, express themselves,
01:03and know that we were looking out for them.
01:05What the are you doing, asshole?
01:08Those were our girls.
01:10Let's face it, I don't know if America was completely ready for them.
01:14The whole music industry changed, and all of a sudden,
01:17punk rock became mainstream, and people were making money.
01:20No, we can't book another female band,
01:22because we had one playing last month.
01:24In the beginning, it was like, oh my god, we're in a band, this is so fun.
01:27But we're also feminists, and we're pro-choice,
01:29and we're still fighting for our choice.
01:31Today, we really need to do one more show.
01:35The time is now for a Lunachicks reunion.
01:37We could do seven or eight shows.
01:39Seven or eight?
01:40Uh-oh, the wheels are turning.
01:42We haven't played together in a very long time.
01:46There's a lot of history there.
01:48Who cares how many records you sold?
01:52Those girls are my lifelong sisters.
01:55There are other bands that make more money.
01:57Never ever, never ever, never ever, never ever, never ever.
01:59But nobody could be us.
02:01He will, you, with that, hey.
02:02She is the jerk, the jerk of all trades.
02:05You're good.
02:06Yeah, 32 years later.
02:08How are those knees holding them?
02:12She can sing, she can do most anything.
