00:02Previously on toxic we've all seen bad vegan we know the story but after Anthony went to jail
00:09where did he go and what did he do listen up you all dearest Anthony you stole from my family
00:16you're a dickhead and a liar he asked myself and then she combined give him a hundred and fifty
00:24thousand dollars we're doing a documentary on Anthony Stranger absolutely not no he's a world-class
00:32con man my brother has ruined a lot of people's lives allegedly Anthony is leaving a string of
00:37victims in his wake and he's doing it in the sickest way possible by leveraging people's
00:41love and trust in him family and friends and otherwise and he needs to be exposed that could
00:46be him dog in the car definitely could be him when it comes to love betrayal is the death of
00:58a
00:58thousand dreams and the unraveling of countless lives you can spend years picking up the pieces
01:08examining them rearranging them digging through the past to make sense of it all navigating
01:17through my personal heartbreak took me back to my roots as an investigative journalist
01:27it ignited a curiosity inside of me about love with fracture oh my god inflicts lasting trauma hi
01:34wanted to see if they could ask you some questions absolutely not and can lead to tragedy and that's
01:39when my world ended I feel that it's part of my calling to meet with the victims the survivors to
01:46listen to their stories show how it can happen to anyone and expose the truth
01:54I'm Elizabeth Chambers and this is toxic
02:05I've spent months following the path of alleged victims Anthony Stringas has left in his wake he's
02:10stolen more than a million dollars and has ruined so many lives without any indication of slowing down
02:16what if I told you that he served his time in prison he was completely reformed and he's not conning
02:22anyone anymore what would you say I would find that very very hard to believe this is his wiring and
02:29it's destructive and he's not you know there's no reforming him it's just not possible and I'm
02:36almost positive that like without knowing anything more I could probably list out a bunch of things and
02:41odds are I'd be right things that make us a good target because I've just seen this pattern being smart
02:47is important being compassionate being idealistic being very trusting you know assuming that people
02:54are good being a bit of an introvert it's easier to manipulate somebody who tends to spend a lot of
03:00time alone a tendency towards having a lot of compassion for animals and so it's very common
03:06to have a rescue dog I mean it's like of course of course she has a rescue dog
03:14I am on a mission to find alleged con man Anthony Stringas in an effort to prevent him from destroying
03:19even one more life my hunt for Anthony Stringas led us to Austin Texas where an address popped up
03:26for Anthony and a woman potentially his new girlfriend and where my team is about to knock on what we
03:31believe is his door
03:53she's coming back she's coming back
03:58bad news boys what's that a kid a mother answered the door um she was like no there's no one
04:10here by
04:10that name I thought they lived here how long have you been here about a year so
04:21Anthony not being at this address kind of felt like an intentional red herring Catherine is it
04:28possible that he would have entered this address into the database just to throw people off the fact
04:33that it hasn't been that easy and it normally is he has obviously eluded us I want to know how
04:41he did
04:42obviously disappointing news but we'll keep pushing on at this point we knew it was going
04:49to be a lot harder than we originally thought but we did have one new clue Anthony's potential
04:55girlfriend who will refer to as Jane Doe attached to the same address in Austin and the car registered
05:03to Anthony I just kind of want to go back to the drawing board and see what else I can
05:07dig up
05:14Catherine continued digging and calling for help from her network and she found another address
05:21shared by Anthony and Jane Doe a P.O. box in Waco Texas she also found a new vehicle for
05:29Jane Doe
05:29which was also linked to Anthony okay showing a lot of activity going back and forth from Florida
05:39which is Anthony's home state what's the city Palm Coast and Texas including
05:50one hit in Waco okay thank you so the link between this woman and Anthony was becoming stronger but
06:01then the trail went cold for months there were no new license plate pings no new addresses for Anthony
06:08or Jane Doe I continued on diving into other stories to share and my hunt for Anthony and my pursuit
06:19of
06:19accountability for Sarma Michaela Eddie became more and more distant how are you nice to meet you thank
06:28you so much for being here sure until I sat down with Harry Litsky for an entirely different story I
06:33was
06:34covering on a whim I told Harry a former investigator for the DEA CIA and Department of Justice about my
06:40search for
06:41Anthony and he agreed to try to help
06:50hello Harry hey how are you I am doing well I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you um
06:56helping us with this
06:57happy to help all right so what do you need for us to find him in terms of what you
07:03can provide I
07:04can use everything names he's used aliases date of birth girlfriends relatives last known address
07:12current address if you have it he's 6'3 big dude big boy he claims to have a military background
07:19he tells
07:19people he's special forces we think he's probably in Texas or Florida he's still active on social
07:27media um if he is it's under active and scamming people is he still looking for a new victim um
07:34in the
07:35words of one of his victims I said if I told you that he is reformed after prison and he's
07:41a completely
07:42different person who's living a life above board what would you say and she said I would tell you that
07:46you're absolutely crazy and there's not a chance in hell so based on his track record it's a good
07:52possibility I think he's just getting better I think he's getting better with each victim and I
07:57think he's getting smarter uh he is a very very intelligent person I mean the thing is he got married
08:03took a woman's last name he has so many aliases and if people haven't seen this documentary about him
08:09nobody has any reason to believe that he could be a gambling addict that keeps stealing money
08:15from people right that's why I want to find him to prevent anyone else from being victimized this
08:22is helpful I mean it's a it's a good start it's more than a lot of cases I've worked the
08:28fact that
08:28this guy has been so elusive has managed to avoid capture by other PIs by you and your staff means
08:36that
08:36we might be looking in what we think is the right place and it's not the right place between my
08:41street
08:42law enforcement my intelligence community service and my white collar and fraud background I like to
08:48think I'm better situated than most I have had a decent history of finding people who prefer not
08:52to be found so we just got to get in front of them this is the guy this is the
08:58guy there he is
08:59December 1988 there he is so the three names Anthony P string is Anthony P Knight Anthony Knight this Austin
09:06address is the last one that we have this is where we did our stakeout he a hundred percent does
09:11not live
09:11there it was a mom and her son they're not hiding anything you see the Ormond Beach Florida well
09:16that was only last year can you search that address and see who the homeowner is yep any of those
09:23names
09:26yes yeah she's also got the P.O. box okay it's her vehicle that we're tracking that's her license
09:33plate number this is major this is major this is who we think she he's with so that's the best
09:39lead
09:39the database that Harry pulled up showed several addresses between Anthony and this Jane Doe this is
09:46interesting yes what's interesting but even more shocking were the numbers that were listed for her
09:53former employers she's phone numbers that come back to defense contractors Lockheed Martin Raytheon company if
10:06somebody provides their employment phone number to you know whoever when they're signing up for an
10:14account open a credit card whatever it is that's how it ends up getting here the fact that she's got
10:17two
10:18different defense contractors sort of scream she was in that kind of line of work so she could have
10:24a clearance and Anthony's always identified as military always attracted to people in the military
10:30and always really gravitates towards that profile this is huge that's scary is she the potential victim or we
10:40think she's helping him nobody helps Anthony so he could be taking advantage Anthony's incapable right
10:46now correct she might be working in defense contracting correct I wouldn't be surprised if she has no idea and
10:57he will he will have moved in with her he'll be living together the employer that Harry found for Jane
11:02Doe
11:03was listed in Arizona I mean he could be in Arizona yeah there's definitely a connection there so I will
11:10go on
11:11socials I'm gonna start doing this research I have her email address I have her phone numbers I'm gonna get
11:15the license plate to you and then let's reconvene this is very exciting it feels like there's hope all
11:22right I like it game on everyone in Anthony's life is a potential victim Jane Doe who we just found
11:34out
11:35works for US defense contractors may have no idea who she's dealing with we have a huge new lead but
11:42with
11:42that so many more questions how much does she know has Anthony spun another web of lies if she is
11:51his
11:51newest victim what does he want with her and what would he do to get it
12:04as my team looked deeper into Jane Doe and Anthony I received a court document that shed new light on
12:10the psychological and sexual abuse allegations raised by Sarma overall it was you know psychological
12:17and financial later on grotesquely it was sexual so I got my hands on this memo which was sent from
12:26Sarma's original lawyer to the judge in 2016 there are allegations in this document that paint a picture
12:34that is far more troubling than anyone knows Mr. Strangis began controlling all aspect of Sarma's personal
12:42and professional life utilizing the time-tested control tools available to him as an experienced
12:47domestic abuser and con man Mr. Strangis controlled all of her everyday activities including access to
12:53her cellular phone access to her social media access to her family and friends when and where she was to
13:00travel and demanding that he be given access to all of her passwords including those for the business
13:04banking relationships Sarma was often without any means of communication if this is true she was
13:12essentially a prisoner not only does this memo go into detail about the ways that he controls her
13:16it also goes into some pretty dark stuff and includes some text messages between the two most
13:22importantly and tragically he also used violence Mr. Strangis repeatedly raped Sarma forcing her to commit
13:28sexual acts against her will in gchat messages the following exchange occurred between Sarma and Mr.
13:34Strangis Sarma you have no idea the loathing I feel for you Strangis yes I do but I also know
13:42the love
13:42I know what could be Sarma you don't humiliate and rape someone you love
13:51Strangis you're the best wife ever Sarma you're the greatest raping torturing up
13:57manipulative lying quote-unquote husband ever I heart you so we didn't see any of this in Bad
14:06Vegan they didn't touch on this and this is not direct proof but she's calling him a rapist and
14:11he's not refuting it he's not responding he's not saying I didn't rape you what are you talking about
14:20it's heartbreaking this is heartbreaking I don't know why these sexual abuse charges were not brought
14:25against Anthony this isn't this has moved beyond the finances Sarma is repeatedly calling him a
14:31rapist in writing knowing what I went through and the dark dark destructive nightmare of it is painful
14:41but I know he's not going to feel remorse I know he's not going to suffer in any way that
14:46we might
14:46suffer because we all you know most of us have a conscience so it's like there's no point in like
14:51harboring resentment against him it's almost like being angry at like a spider that bit you you
14:58know it's like he's the spider you just want him you know neutralized so he's not going to bite somebody
15:05else Strangis to his court appointed attorneys denied all allegations but did not elaborate on
15:11his denials in responding to 80 questions from vanity fair so this is where the stakes that were high
15:23before become urgent the fact that yes he's a con man yes he did his time for conning people out
15:30of
15:30money fine but now we're talking about a man who is presumably walking the streets of free man who
15:37allegedly has the capability the history of raping his victim I knew at this point I wasn't just
15:48searching for Anthony Strangis it's very possible that Anthony has his new girlfriend caught in a con
15:54like he did with Sarma just a decade ago only now it seemed possible that she could be at more
16:02risk than
16:02we ever knew and if she was I had to let her know so my team and I start searching
16:09for this Jane Doe
16:10and the very next day we find a profile that looks like a perfect match holy this is this is
16:19yes yes
16:20yes yes yes yeah that's the same dog from the pictures right right right so I spoke Republican so
16:25Harry put us on the path now we're taking all the information Harry just gave us and running with it
16:31where did that picture come from her Facebook this is this is like the girl that we believe Anthony's
16:37with in the picture she's holding a dog that's important because the last time Anthony spoke to
16:45Michaela he sent a picture of that dog this dog so we know that this dog belongs to who basically
16:58looks
16:58like a Burnett Sarma we know that Anthony can't be alone we know he's not living alone we know he's
17:03not in jail and we don't think he's dead but we also know his pattern he goes from woman to
17:09woman to
17:09woman so our goal has been to find the woman he's currently with because he's been very quiet no one's
17:16spoken to him Michaela hasn't spoken to him his mom hasn't heard from him we have found and where
17:22there's a we believe there's an Anthony my pursuit of con man Anthony Strangas had new life and while
17:31Anthony is notoriously impossible to track down the woman we believed is his new girlfriend and potential
17:38new victim was not this woman ticked all the boxes outspoken Republican dogs that match the photos that
17:47Anthony sent Michaela and we confirmed that she worked for a US defense contractor in Arizona I
17:54asked both Catherine and Harry to pursue this new lead and we hit the mother load not only were they
18:03able to locate an address in Arizona for both Anthony and Jane Doe they were also able to place the
18:10BMW at
18:11that same location just a few weeks prior with this new lead it felt like there was a really good
18:18chance that I was actually going to be able to find Anthony and Jane Doe but I knew I had
18:24to act fast
18:26Harry agreed to join me and met me in Arizona where he'd already spent a few days investigating and had
18:32some new Intel you've had a bit of a head start I have it's been a productive couple of days
18:38okay
18:39good good I want to hear everything okay so the vehicle yeah which was sort of our best lead I
18:45don't
18:46think is in play any longer okay the reason I say that is because the last time it was seen
18:52was late
18:54March into early April and the very last place was seen for a week it was in an industrial area
19:01down by
19:01the airport I went down there and put eyes on and it's like an impound lot hmm like sitting
19:09normal to towing yeah it looks like a towing company did you see the vehicle there I didn't
19:15know I've been by the apartment I sat there for three and a half hours around you know come home
19:20time between 4 and 7 30 and it never showed up could be they were out late that night so
19:26I went by the
19:27next morning at 5 30 a.m it wasn't there every time I've been back since at varying times during
19:32the day nothing are we sure this is the address I have like PTSD from our last situation where we're
19:37at this apartment complex for two days and no sign of that no trace um so yesterday I went by
19:46and
19:46have an intercom system out because it's gated community yeah and it has the ability to scroll
19:51through a directory listing yeah and his current alias Anthony Knight was listed in a directory
20:00that's that's huge that's huge that's huge
20:10so his current alias Anthony Knight was listed in a directory
20:16that's huge yeah so the apartment complex might be our best play at this point but her name
20:22interestingly was not on the directory she's not listed at all yeah that's weird that is really
20:29they the primary address for her um is a UPS store P.O. box about a mile from the apartment
20:36weird that she'd have a P.O. box when she has an apartment here in Waco she had a UPS
20:41store associated
20:42with her too and then looking back at her history you know before that in Florida she she'd never did
20:50or none that I could see so right post Anthony it seems that she transitioned to you know the style
20:59of P.O. box well this is very good that's very promising I think that we are already you know
21:05several steps closer just by saying his name on the call box so I think we need a game plan
21:11I mean
21:11there's a number of you know ruse approaches we can do we could use the the UPS store the P
21:16.O. box we
21:17could drop the package off and that's also a way to get some intel potentially right so if we walk
21:21in and say hey listen I don't know the exact box you know they might say like oh they packed
21:26up and
21:26left right so it might be a quick way to figure out what we're dealing with here's what I think
21:31we do I
21:31think we do the P.O. box delivery and try to get in touch with June Doe and warn her
21:37about Anthony I
21:38think we need to go to the impound lot right he doesn't want anyone finding him he doesn't want
21:43anyone calling him out yeah and yet here we are doing just that did you never know what's gonna
21:48happen so I'm just like what what advice do you have for me in terms of doing this you know
21:55if I
21:55see anything that's concerning you know that I think it's it's starting to go south I will I will
22:01make it clear thank you for your time let's you know let's get out of here you never know what
22:06a
22:06caged animal is gonna do we have one chance to get this right I think we should just pop by
22:17the
22:17impound lot and see if we can get inside and then speak to someone and show them a photo of
22:24the car
22:24well it's certainly worth a second look I absolutely agree and maybe who knows we get some kind of Intel
22:29that's helpful the car was there for two weeks they have a long time they have to know the story
22:34and they
22:34have to know from where it was towed they certainly do whether or not they share that with us right
22:39right
22:39so this is gonna be it right right here yeah this is the lot okay so this is the lot
22:48where the car was
22:50last seen it was here for how long I was here for about a week and based on the pictures
22:56I think it
22:57was parked over there yeah I don't see it there's a Cadillac I mean the colors kind of easiest spot
23:03let's see if we can find a person who can answer some questions yeah let's do it I'm Elizabeth nice
23:09to meet you I need to know the history of one vehicle that was here could you ask your boss
23:13and
23:13we can give you any information you need the impound lot wouldn't let us bring the cameras in but they
23:18allowed us to keep recording audio while we asked them a few questions I have not received anything from
23:23the lender to allow you guys to have that information was it a repo I cannot release any
23:31information okay it was a repo it was a repo they obviously you know can't they can't share a lot
23:39of
23:39information but essentially when we asked about the specific car she promptly said we are not able to
23:45disclose information from the lender and being the professional that he is Harry said oh so it was a repo
23:52and we got a little slight nod so and that makes sense and that explains the two weeks why nobody
23:58would come you know if you park badly your car's gone you need to get to work you come down
24:02the next
24:02day two weeks it'll take that long for the bank to make arrangements to dispose of it sell it you
24:08know
24:08report the title right you know back into their name things like that so that that tracks perfectly
24:14with the time it was here and now the story becomes okay you know it gets repoed for a reason
24:23the car being repossessed weeks ago and never being reclaimed signaled some serious trouble and
24:29knowing Anthony he doesn't want to be anywhere near trouble I started to wonder if he and Jane Doe were
24:35still even in Arizona but Harry and I decided to go forward with our next strategy if they were still
24:42here they'd have to pick up their mail so we decided to go to the UPS store where their PO
24:46box was
24:47located and drop a package off that they'd have to pick up there it is there it is I think
24:53the
24:53most important thing is reaching out to her you know I think we have to address it I don't think
24:59she
24:59knows who she's living with she needs to know what she's dealing with here and I don't think it needs
25:03to be involved to just what do you think call me yeah simple yeah please call me okay so we
25:14have um we
25:15have our box we're going to leave this for them they will hopefully send her an email or a text
25:20saying
25:20you have a package that has been delivered it's ready for pickup and we are going to wait outside going
25:28in
25:35and we are going to leave this for you they call them the she said it's for them they come
25:48in often they
25:49left a message for her asking if it was okay if I leave it and he's gonna call me if
25:54for some reason
26:05she says no I got a call hello
26:34yes my name is Elizabeth I actually wanted to to connect with you um so
26:40we're actually doing a documentary have you ever heard that name Anthony Knight or Anthony Strangis
26:46uh no I have not okay we were under the impression that he might uh that he might be your
26:52boyfriend
26:52or that you had lived together at one point no that's not true I would just recommend strongly
26:58um that you look into his past okay thank you bye bye we got to go to the apartment yeah
27:07she's
27:07gonna call him right now right now she's gonna call him yeah we gotta go it's the same reaction
27:12we had from Mrs. Johnson we went to the front door it's like nope I don't know what you're talking
27:16about I I do believe she knows him she may not know the whole truth she may just be protective
27:21yeah
27:22we're not done yet if she is a victim that can be really hard to admit but whether she's under
27:28his
27:28control or not I assumed her first move would be to call him this is where the license plate hits
27:35came
27:36from the apartment sort of on the backside so we rushed over to the apartment complex so you might
27:41want to just pull straight in here yeah yeah and parked where we couldn't be seen theory this is
27:48where he's gonna come out but where Anthony would have to walk by if he wanted to leave his apartment
27:54now we just gotta wait and see if he pops out I fully expected Anthony to flee my heart was
28:03pounding
28:04my hands were shaking but nothing happened we don't even know if they still live here do you have a
28:16feeling
28:16that he's not here I didn't know if we had missed him or if he was even there at all
28:21I couldn't wait
28:23anymore to get answers so I decided to get them myself so I'm going to write this note similar to
28:30the one that we put in the box it just says please call me it's very important sign my name
28:34and phone
28:35number point is just to ascertain whether or not they in fact do live here together
28:53how'd it go 100 confirmed that she didn't come from the photo but she knew and I said
28:59wanted to just confirm that her partner boyfriend is Anthony and I she's like I cannot confirm that
29:04but I can tell them to come get it oh so she confirmed it which confirms the lie I now
29:11know for
29:11some reason the Jane Doe was withholding the truth about knowing Anthony but I also knew that nobody
29:17was coming or going from the apartment so I decided to take a bit of a more aggressive approach okay
29:23we're
29:23getting ready to exit the vehicle and head in Elizabeth's gonna go and do the door knock so just
29:27everyone heads up and be ready what could go wrong out of the vehicle and making our way to the
29:42target department
29:57oh adrenaline is crazy so they are definitely in the house they're inside we can hear them inside they we
30:08knocked once the dog started barking and then we knocked again the dogs did not bark at all the dogs
30:16were very clearly hushed inside of the apartment which gave it away when I knocked the second time I knew
30:21somebody was in there and that eventually they would have to come out hey guys we've just repositioned
30:29to get a eyeball on the door we think somebody's inside so we're just gonna stay here for a bit
30:34see if
30:35they come out we repositioned right outside the apartment door and kept our eyes glued on the door
30:42for hours when the Sun went down not a single light came on inside the house as if the person
30:50inside if
30:50there was somebody inside was clearly hiding from us stay till 9 do one more door knock see if the
30:57dogs are there you know the fact that the dog stopped barking makes me think somebody's in there I
31:02think he's in there I mean at some point the dogs need to go out yeah it's just weird something's
31:09going
31:09on like and we haven't seen her come home it's really interesting the neighbor crossed the way knows
31:16to him ID'd him but said she hasn't seen him for a month which is exactly the same time that
31:22the BMW

33:00he was over there
33:27There.
33:34Anthony.
33:36Anthony, hi.
33:36How are you?
33:38This is private property.
33:39I understand that.
33:40I just wanted to...
33:40You must have came in here on the offer week.
33:42No, we're not coming here on the offer week.
33:43This is private property.
33:44That's private.
33:45It's not a private...
33:45I understand that.
33:46It's a great community.
33:46Anthony, I've been speaking to Michaela.
33:48I've spoken to Glenn.
33:49I've been speaking to so many people you've heard.
33:51No comment.
33:51You don't care?
33:52I don't care who you're talking to.
33:53I have no comment.
33:54Do you have any remorse?
33:55I took a single shit from 10 years ago.
33:56Do you have remorse for hurting people?
33:58Back here again and calling the cops.
34:00Okay, this is private property.
34:01I don't give you consent to record my voice or my audio or my video.
34:05This is private property.
34:06All right, no Arizona property law.
34:08You had to have followed someone in because you didn't ring the gate to get let in.
34:11You're here on the offer week.
34:12You come back and call the cops.
34:14No comment.
34:15Leave me alone.
34:16What do you say to your family?
34:18What do you say to the people you've hurt?
34:21What do you say about the fact that so many people are suffering because of what you did to them?
34:30come back to call the cops.
34:34They've been coming up, let's go.
34:37We got to go.
34:38We got to go.
34:39Yeah, he's pissed.
34:44Good eyes see on the door, Jeff.
34:51For six months, I tracked Anthony.
34:54And for a long time, I thought I would never have the opportunity to meet him face to face.
34:59And then I blinked, and I had confronted one of the most infamous conmen in America.
35:06It was such a surreal feeling.
35:08I don't care who you're talking to. I have no comment.
35:11Did I say too much? Did I not say enough?
35:15I got to feel Anthony's manipulation firsthand, where he tried to turn it back on us as if we had
35:20done something wrong.
35:23As we left the apartment, I was exhausted.
35:26Our camera batteries were completely dead.
35:28Pure pitch black.
35:30Yeah.
35:31But I couldn't sleep that night.
35:33I had a lot of catching up to do in the morning.
35:43Hello?
35:44Sarma!
35:46I wanted to let you know that we found him.
35:49We found him through the woman he's been with for the past year and went to his home.
35:55My first thought is concern for whoever he's with.
35:58Yeah.
35:59What's her deal?
36:00He's just living with her, and that's all we know?
36:03She flat out denied to me, knowing him, knowing anything about him.
36:07I had a conversation with her over the phone.
36:09And she says, I have nothing to do with him.
36:11I don't know this person.
36:12That's weird.
36:13I mean, on paper, she seems like a very normal, put-together person.
36:18Nothing nefarious in her past.
36:19No criminal history.
36:21But we also know that that's kind of his type.
36:24Yeah, exactly.
36:25I mean, you know, same with me.
36:27I think odds are obviously extraordinarily high that she's in a bad situation,
36:32but either doesn't realize it or is afraid of him.
36:35It is interesting, too, Sarma.
36:37He was visibly agitated, and I could tell he was breathing deeply and about to lose it.
36:42Yeah, that brings back all these memories.
36:45Like, when he breathed heavy out of his nose, it reminded me of, like, a bull, you know?
36:50Mm-hmm.
36:51Mm-hmm.
36:52And then did he just end up going back in his house and slamming the door?
36:55He did.
36:56He threatened to call the police, which I'm like, please, call the police on yourself.
37:01Yeah, that's amazing.
37:02He responded exactly in the way we anticipated him responding, both verbally and physically.
37:08He was extremely visibly agitated, angry.
37:12I mean, he was emotional.
37:13He got, like, he was breathing really heavily.
37:15His posture changed.
37:16I think that's even part of the con.
37:18You think?
37:19I mean, I don't know how long ago you found him, but he's probably right now trying to figure out,
37:24is the heat really on?
37:25Do I need to skip town and start again?
37:28The disappointment that you're seeing in him may be that he hasn't.
37:31He hasn't run the full grift yet, just like in Orange County.
37:36You know, he didn't finish that one.
37:42I had done what I set out to do.
37:54The fact that I still hadn't figured out Jane Doe's place in all of this haunted me.
37:59Why didn't she tell me the truth about knowing him?
38:03If she is his latest victim, are his claws in her that deep?
38:08Was it shame and embarrassment over being tricked?
38:11I had so many questions.
38:13Would Sarma have reacted that way had I called her back then?
38:17I tried calling Jane Doe again, hoping to get through to her.
38:23The person you're trying to reach is not available.
38:25At the tone, please record your message.
38:28Hi, this is Elizabeth Chambers again.
38:31I genuinely just want to make sure that you are okay.
38:34I want to make sure your dogs are okay.
38:36I want to give you a space to talk.
38:38It can be on the record.
38:39It can be off the record, whatever.
38:41So if you would, please give me a call back.
38:44I look forward to hearing from you,
38:45and I will hopefully speak with you soon.
38:47Bye.
38:50I never heard back from Jane Doe after that call.
38:53She disabled her LinkedIn and scrubbed her social media.
38:57My hope is that if Anthony is still conning,
39:00and if she is his latest victim,
39:03then this intervention caused her to look deeper,
39:06to question who Anthony really is.
39:12Michaela, I said words to Anthony on your behalf,
39:16but what would you say to him directly?
39:18I would say,
39:20I love you,
39:22and I miss you,
39:24but at this point,
39:26until he actively has changed his life,
39:31and not in rehab,
39:33and in therapy,
39:35and no longer gambling at all,
39:37I wouldn't ever associate myself with him again.
39:42But if I was saying anything to anyone else,
39:45I would be saying to never involve yourself with him.
39:50Yeah.
39:50And I think it's important to take that me saying I miss him
39:55doesn't mean that he's a good person.
39:58He's just my brother.
40:01As I reflect on the months spent following the trail of alleged victims
40:04Anthony left in his wake,
40:06I'm grateful to all the people who spoke with me
40:08and shared the impact Anthony had on their life.
40:12But with each new story I learned,
40:15it was Sarma who weighed heaviest on my mind.
40:19Everyone else,
40:20Michaela,
40:20Eddie,
40:21Glenn,
40:22the Johnsons,
40:23were all left rebuilding a piece of their life Anthony damaged.
40:27Sarma didn't just lose a piece of her life.
40:30She lost almost everything to Anthony's manipulation and coercion.
40:34And she's still, to this day, reclaiming what he took from her.
40:39I hope now we have set the record straight about Anthony Strangis
40:42and his alleged cons.
40:46I'm just proud of you.
40:47Honestly, I'm really proud of you.
40:48We've all been through s**t,
40:49but you've been through some deep, deep, deep s**t,
40:51and especially doing it alone.
40:53Like, I feel like I'm doing that in my own way,
40:56but I think a lot of people look up to you,
40:58and I really hope this story inspires.
