00:08The war between the United States and Iran has triggered intense missile and drone attacks
00:15across the Middle East. Since February 28th, when the conflict escalated under the U.S.-Israeli
00:21campaign known as Operation Epic Fury, Iranian forces say they have inflicted massive casualties
00:29on American troops stationed across the region. Iranian officials claim hundreds of U.S. soldiers
00:36have been killed or wounded in retaliatory strikes, but how accurate are those numbers?
00:43Within the first two days of the conflict, Iranian Revolutionary Guard officials made dramatic
00:49claims. An IRGC spokesperson said that 650 U.S. troops were killed or wounded during the initial
00:57wave of attacks. According to Iranian state media, one strike on the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet
01:04headquarters in Bahrain alone reportedly caused 160 casualties. However, these figures were
01:11immediately disputed by American officials. Iranian media also claimed major damage to
01:18American bases across the Gulf. These included bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the
01:25United Arab Emirates. Reports suggested missile and drone attacks targeted facilities such as Ali
01:31al-Salam Air Base, Camp Arifjan, and the Fifth Fleet headquarters. Iranian outlets said hundreds of U.S.
01:39troops were killed or injured during these strikes. By early March, the numbers continued to rise in
01:47Iranian statements. Former Iranian security official Ali Larajani claimed that more than 500 American soldiers
01:54had been killed in the conflict. Other statements said 220 U.S. troops were killed or wounded in a single
02:02wave of attacks, including strikes on bases in Bahrain and the UAE. These claims were widely circulated in
02:09Iranian media and on social platforms. More recently, Iranian sources reported another attack on Camp
02:17Burring, also known as Al-Udiri Base in Kuwait. According to those claims, several American troops
02:24were killed and more than 100 were wounded in the strike. Iranian officials say a total of more than two
02:31dozen U.S. bases across nine countries have been targeted during the campaign. However, U.S. military
02:39officials strongly dispute the numbers being reported by Iran. According to Pentagon and U.S. Central Command
02:46updates, the confirmed figures are significantly lower. So far, 13 U.S. service members have been
02:53confirmed killed and roughly 140 troops wounded, most of them with minor injuries. Six of those
03:00fatalities occurred when a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq, an incident the Pentagon says
03:08was not caused by hostile fire. Military analysts say the dramatic differences in casualty figures,
03:16highlight the information war surrounding the conflict. Iranian officials have repeatedly released
03:23numbers far higher than those confirmed by independent sources. Experts believe such figures are often used
03:30for domestic morale and wartime propaganda. So while Iran claims hundreds of American soldiers have been
03:38killed in the war since February 28th, the confirmed numbers remain far lower. The discrepancy reflects the fog of
03:45war, where information, propaganda, and real battlefield losses often collide. And as the conflict continues,
03:53verifying the true human cost on both sides remains a major challenge.
