00:04I got involved in parkrun through my brother Derek. He always used to come down here and
00:12support parkrun. Unfortunately he's developed Alzheimer's disease so his memories just shot.
00:21Both of us always loved our running and seeing other people running it took us back to the
00:27enjoyment we used to get so we just felt right at home here. I admire the effort that a lot
00:33of
00:33people put in from from the very fast ones and little little fellas and one thing that always
00:40gets you is the people pushing crams. That looks really hard work to me.
00:47Make it look easy this morning. It's always great to see him there because he just adds a bit of
00:53life to the whole event.
00:54You get to that halfway point and he's always encouraging and clapping you along and you can
00:57think you know what I can do this just back again.
00:59He's been running before a lot of us, before running was cool really. He's the OG of runners really.
01:06I started off in the late 50s competing for Toowong Harriers at Lang Park an inter-club competition
01:13and really enjoyed that. We used to run up over 100 miles a week and I love the longer running
01:20and I found it quite easy. It was sort of moving meditation because you'd get out and any problems
01:26you had during the day you could just sort them out while you were running along.
01:29I really look forward to coming down each week. It's something that, it's one of the highlights of my week.
01:37And you can get up in the way I can go.
01:38There's no way I can do this. There's no way I can do this.
01:39I'm ready to go.ила.
