01:25to the hood is what he said. That was already just a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having,

01:41school at that time. And I remember that being the first thing, um, that felt like it was really

01:59um, which I think also was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in

04:10comes to comics, it, I think that's what draws me. And, and I heard James Gunn is doing the Teen

06:17True. Um, Connor told me what his routine was. And after I saw him in person, um, I asked
06:23him how he got to that size. I thought he was taking illicit substances. He wasn't. He
06:28does it super clean. Sorry. I mentioned illicit substances. Um, but I have nothing to hide.
06:34Bring it on. But he was so just like, so I was like, what are you eating freak?
06:42I was like, I'm eating. And he just couldn't speak. And he just kept doing that. I was like,
06:48I think that means ground beef. Um, you're like that level of capability is what I need.
06:54And then Connor was actually the person who put me onto fiber, because if you need to eat
06:58the protein, you want to get, you know, iliac cheeks, um, and chests, you need so much fiber,
07:05just so your stomach doesn't shut down. And you go into cardiac arrest and you get carried out
07:10from your, your little workout on a stretcher with some, you know, pumped up pecs and a shut down
07:16fucking digestive system. It's really unfortunate if it ends that way.
07:20Yeah. Yeah. I actually, um, I'm going to one up this true or false. I actually think that we ate
07:26more than a pound of beef. Yeah. Cause a pound of beef only has, I think 84 grams of protein
07:30and you need a solid 200 for our size and shape. So sometimes I can eat two pounds of ground

07:37day. Plus like 10 eggs. Yeah. And so many salads. I was having so much salad. Cause by the end
07:43I got
07:43like gained 10 pounds. So like when I started shooting, I was like, and by the end I was like
07:4810 pounds
07:48heavier and it was because of ground beef. Yeah. You, I mean, you're very inspiring. I'm glad that
07:53we had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if, you know, we were going
07:58back to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence, like alone.

08:02really, it's nice that I got to be like, hi son, let's go to gym. And we would go from
08:09a fucking 11
08:09hour day skating lesson and Connor would go, let's do legs. And I, and I looked him, he's a madman.
08:15That's how he has a butt. He'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs
08:20now. And I was like, what are you saying? I, okay. I knew I had a responsibility to the people.
08:28He's America's ass. And I, I take that very seriously. Romance readers are famously passionate
08:35about book adaptations. Did you feel any pressure bringing a beloved story to life? And how did you
08:40approach making the characters your own? It's good. I think to go into a project accepting
08:45that, you know, people might be disappointed, especially with something like a book where
08:50everyone already has preconceived notions. They've envisioned, they've envisioned these
08:54characters. They've drawn these characters. They've gotten tattoos of these characters. Like
08:58the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed. All you can
09:04do is, is read the material as much as you possibly can and, um, and respect it, show the respect,
09:14show the dedication, and just hope that people, you know, connect with it and love it and see that
09:19enthusiasm. I think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not.
09:23Like people might just hate this. People might hate your casting or they might hate my casting.
09:28I'm not going to expect anything more. And, uh, I'm just going to do the best I can. But you
09:34have
09:34really no metric of if people are going to be warm to your, your take. I really think at the
09:40end of
09:40the day, all you can do is be really intentional, give it 150%. Yeah. Just go for it, you know?
09:47And
09:48luckily for us, this worked out really fricking well. Hudson, we have heard rumors about a very
09:57serious multi-step Korean skincare routine. Can you break it down for us? It's not that lengthy. Yeah.
10:03I always made fun of you for it too, because I like, honestly, I'm just kind of jealous because
10:07you have really good skin. Um, but I was like, yeah, your skin routine. And then it's actually
10:12not that long. It's not that long. It's okay. I'm going to tell you in the morning I use water

10:18cleanse my face, warm water. And then I put on a glow toner, but it's pretty dry. It's not like,

10:45routine is an oil cleanser, you know, to get out these blackheads, to get the, the gunk out. Um,
10:52and then I'll either use like a CeraVe normal ass cleanser, or I'll use like a poor shrinking
10:58cleanser. That's their new, that's their new slogan. CeraVe normal ass cleanser.
11:05I think that is. I, yeah, I also, and then like a poor shrink or poor shrinking cleanser,
11:10if that's my goal. And then the same thing, toner, serum, and then either a retinol or a salicylic acid.
11:16And then I go to sleep. So I think everyone in the studio agrees. That was a lot. Well,

11:43What makes those stand out for you? My favorite spicy scene from Ember and Ice is actually a scene
11:48where Dane is with two former lovers, Cassandra and Elijah. Yep.
11:58I need you to, I need you to be here with me. Okay. Dane has an interaction with two of
12:06his former
12:06lovers after having been with Finn for some time and yeah, not to spoil, but he, he ends up realizing
12:15that what, what really works for him, isn't working for him anymore. And it's kind of this moment of
12:21identity loss. And you know, what, what pleases me, isn't pleasing me the same. I think that's really
12:27cool. Cause it's also, it's cause it's cool. Cause it's like sexy and spicy, but it also is really
12:33revealing of the character and the connection and where he's at, you know? Um, and I think it's funny.
12:38I think I remember Dane saying something about, um, he's like, he's like, and then the next thing I
12:43did was I just had to come up with a, an excuse. And then he's like, he's like, my friends,
12:48I have bad
12:49news. I have a lot from Ember and Ice, but one is the lake scene where we kind of go
12:56in together and
12:57kind of coax out of me without spoiling too much. Um, I think that one's just, you know,
13:02a lot of times like the intimacy before intimacy, I think it has more of a charge in a way.
13:07That one really got me, um, frothing at the mouth and heated rivalry, favorite
13:14intimate scene. There's one that was really fun to film. Do you remember filming the stair step scene
13:18when we're like kissing against the glass and our lips never come apart. Me and you were like,
13:23do people do this? Do people? I know it's always a fun balance, right? Of like,
13:28when you're filming, um, separate from like the audio space, when you're filming,
13:34it's like how much of it is fun TV and then how much of it is like, is like true
13:41sex.
13:41Cause at the end of the day, you know, you do have in real life, people do have those,
13:45those like movie moments where you're like, you know, and you're like, yeah, yeah.
13:49And then everyone on set was like, oh yeah, no, we, I've done that. And then Connor and I were
13:53like,
13:53oh, we usually fold our clothes, place them down, then go upstairs naked and go sex now.
14:01Sex now? I'm robot. Plug me in. True or false. Hudson's roommates once kept a mooning tally

15:18So I had one where I would get pants low, like I would deep pants and she would be unassuming,

17:20Um, why do you think that role matters on projects like this? Was there anything about the process
17:24that you think would surprise people? Wow. I mean, I think it's so, um, yeah, that's a,
17:31yeah, that question is, I mean, it's so important. I mean, you, you literally can't do things
17:39without that role. Um, the thing that I think would shock people about the role of intimacy
17:44coordinating is it's not just about, and this is what I learned from Shayla originally, and then also
17:50Jamie doing this. It's not just about the actual safety, the boundaries, monitoring what's going
17:56on, what that looks like, making sure everyone's okay. There's also actually a conjunction of an
18:02artistic edge where you are like Jamie with this, you know, was also the voice that was reminding us,
18:10this is how long it's been since this happened. You know, you need to, I need to hear that shiver,
18:15or that I need to hear those, um, I need to hear that feeling through your wings. I need to
18:21see
18:22that come about. I need to feel that pleasure in this way. So it's not always technical, even though
18:27that's what I feel like is brought up a lot. There is also an artistic sensibility to that job, and

22:24we had so many, like so much overlap of movies we liked, actors we liked, art we liked,
22:31and similar approaches to how we, you know, like to perform, that I immediately knew.
22:37I think we clicked there.
22:38And I think that's saying a lot, because I think some of our, our interests can be pretty niche.
22:43The fact that there is overlap is amazing.

22:45And favorite memories, I would say all our laughs on set.
22:51Being in Muskoka, um, was really beautiful.

23:34being like, costume, let's get up there. And everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like,

23:44How does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement?
23:49I can't, I honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this, you know?

24:29So what drew you to doing a Fey Romantese story and what was it about the script that hooked you?
24:33For me, it was exploring sensuality with, with your voice. You know, that's the only
24:40tool you have. And it kind of scared me a little bit. And, you know, there, there, it was a
24:45really
24:46fun way to explore yourself.
24:48It was fun. It was actually fun.
24:49And, you know, it's very demanding and it's, it's well written. I think in the booth, the term
24:57winged Hemingway came up, you know? Fantastical Hemingway.
25:01Because there was like war, there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed,
25:08uh, in a lot of ways. Um, and that was way heavier than I thought, you know, this would look
25:15like.
25:15And it was really rewarding.
25:17Mm-hmm. I, the story just moves really well too. Um, it was just written really well.
25:22Uh, as someone who, you know, is not a big reader, I think something like this would be
25:28really appealing to me. Um, just the way it, it cycles through the feelings. It cycles through
25:34the years and point of view. Yeah. Yeah. I just think it's really like almost physically well done.
25:39Why do you think MM romance resonates so strongly with women right now?
25:44Mm. Yeah. We've, we've, we've both talked about this and kind of been intrigued by it.
25:50Um, there's so many reasons.
25:51There's so many reasons. And then even just women, you know, there are straight women,
25:56there are trans women, there are, um, gay women, like queer women. It's, it's, um,
26:01well, that feels like a giant term to be like, I know exactly why. Um, you know,
26:07there's like the element of you can live vicariously and you can feel safe.
26:10Mm-hmm. Um, like with women, this is just one opinion that I had never even
26:15considered or thought of, um, that I saw that I think you're alluding to, which is if you are female,
26:21um, and you are, you are taken out of the equation, there's, and you're, you're, there's a spectatorship
26:31to that. There's like a, there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety,
26:37you know, like especially women, um, historically being put into a box in a certain way, especially
26:42when it comes to sex and pleasure. Right. It feels like a nice separation to see
26:47sexuality and romance be lived out without, um, the female dynamic being. Yeah. I, I heard,
26:53I heard someone online say, a woman say that like, when you see like a hetero, um, couple,
26:59you know, you default to like relating with or forced to sort of relate with the woman character.
27:05Mm-hmm. Um, and then that comes with a lot of restriction and two and like imagination. A lot of
27:09writers, you know, are writing very conventionally, um, which means a lot of outdated tropes, um,
27:15old archetypes. And I think, you know, with getting to watch two men, it's like they can kind of relate
27:21with this person. In one moment, they're empathetic to this person. They're not forced into a box of
27:25here. This is your person to relate with. Mm-hmm. At the end of the day though, we're both men.
27:30I have no
27:31idea what it's like to be a woman. Um, yeah. And so y'all let us know. Yeah. Y'all
27:36tell us.
27:37I think me, cause I would just be, I'd be drinking. I'd be somewhere. I'd be like under a table.
