00:00Sharply contrasting opinions here on day two of the Global Baku Forum.
00:05On what next in the Iran war?
00:07Do you press ahead with that bombing campaign as the hardship, death and destruction intensified
00:13and the price of oil hovers around $100 a barrel?
00:16Or do you pursue diplomacy?
00:19Well, one U.S. congressman we talked to, who's a supporter of President Trump, says press
00:24ahead with that bombing campaign.
00:25I served as a U.S. Marine in Iraq.
00:28I saw Iranian spies come into the country and literally commit violent acts against the
00:35United States troops that were in Iraq.
00:37We can defend ourselves against the Iranians today, and we're doing that.
00:40And what about diplomacy, a diplomatic way out?
00:44The congressman says not at the moment.
00:47President Trump worked very hard to try to get a diplomatic solution for many years.
00:54And unfortunately, the Iranians were not interested in stopping their terrorism.
00:57They wanted to continue it, and they continue it today as we speak.
01:01There are calls here at the forum to seek a diplomatic solution.
01:04One of those voices is the president of East Timor, who's a Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
01:10It was obvious that a U.S.-Israel intervention in Iran would have a cataclysmic side effect, and it's happening.
01:26And of course, the economic impact does not stay there in the region.
01:42And some words of advice from a former president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, whose job was all about
01:51compromise.
01:52You have to understand whether people and, let's say, leaders are ready to compromise, because after months of madness, compromise
02:10is the only thing to do.
02:12Expect more talk of solutions to the Iran war and other conflicts around the world here at the Global Baku
02:19Forum before it ends on Saturday.
