Murderbot: intervista ad Alexander Skarsgård
Trascrizione
00:24From vampire to abusive husband to self-hacking robot, what's the key to play a killing machine with feelings?
00:33Well, the key for me was about suppressing those feelings.
00:37That's what I, was my introduction to the character.
00:43When Meritabot hacks its governor module and gains independence, autonomy,
00:49it is kind of, it's forced to embrace its own or explore its own humanity.
01:00So those feelings do not come organically.
01:05It doesn't come, it's not easy for Meritabot to admit the fact that it has feelings at all.
01:14And that was a very exciting exploration for me as an actor to kind of jump in and play around
01:24with a character
01:24who is, for the first time, realizing that it has these feelings and that it reluctantly starts to connect with
01:36humans
01:36in a way it hasn't, it hasn't before.
01:39And that frustrates Meritabot, it scares Meritabot.
01:45But that, yeah, that was kind of the entry into the character and then,
01:49and then building these relationships with it, with a team that it's assigned to protect.
01:54You not only act in the show, but also produced it.
01:58Why choose to be double involved?
02:00And why did you feel the urgency to tell this story with this character today?
02:04It, I think it's, it's just a great opportunity when you, when you get to come on board early,
02:15maybe not at the point of Genesis, but sometimes as an actor, you sent the script and it's already,
02:22they already have a plan when and where to shoot it.
02:24And there's only so much you can do in shaping it.
02:28It's a real treat when, like in this case, when I came on board over a year before we shot
02:34the show
02:35and met up with Chris and Paul Weitz, the showrunners,
02:38and we were able to have conversations that were limitless and we weren't constrained to a specific location
02:49or a pre-planned schedule of where to shoot it.
02:54and we could remove sections, we could add sections, we could, and, and that is obviously very fun creatively to
03:03be able to have those,
03:05to be able to shape it with the showrunners.
03:08Again, I don't take any credit for writing the script, but, but it was a real treat to,
03:12to be bouncing ideas back and forth from, from the very beginning with, with, with Chris and Paul and,
03:18and be part of shaping the world and, and, and obviously the character in terms of its look and, and
03:26the, the, the essence of the character.
03:29What the hell? You could have killed me!
03:31There was a chance, yes, but everything turned out fine.
03:59Thank you.
04:00Grazie a tutti
