00:36con i ragazzi,
00:37con i cadetti.
00:39Si sono stati in mano,
00:42e sono molto unruly,
00:44e abbiamo bisogno di quelli in line,
00:48e io faccio in modo,
00:49e sicuramente lo vedo in la pilota,
00:51come Gina's character ha fatto.
00:55I'll say
00:57As a parent
00:59In the real world
01:01I find it to be an honor
01:03To be able to
01:06Guide my children
01:08Off into the world
01:10And it's a similar feeling
01:12Even acting
01:13To know that you're sending
01:15The next generation
01:18Out to the best
01:20Of your ability
01:22I'm pretty sure Laura didn't see it as an honor
01:24At the beginning
01:26It was a job for her
01:28I mean this is going to be her first time working with children
01:30Or youngsters
01:32So it was very exasperating
01:34For her and hence that she's always screaming
01:36And shouting at them
01:37But over the course of the season
01:39You'll see her develop an actual affection for these kids
01:42And actually care about them
01:43And you see the empathy coming out of her later on
01:46So she changes along the course of the season
01:48But she definitely doesn't see it as an honor
01:50At the beginning
01:51An honor to be a commander
01:52And now the captain's number one
01:54And the kids will just be a
01:56Sort of an annoyance
01:57That she has to deal with on a daily basis
02:02This year we celebrate 60 years of Star Trek
02:07Do you remember your first memory of this universe?
02:11I remember when I was in elementary school
02:16When I was very young
02:18My brother and I got into the original series
02:22Which led to asking for every Star Trek character
02:28And toy and transporter for Christmas
02:33So that's my earliest memory
02:37Yeah mine too
02:38Was the first series
02:39Watching that as a kid
02:40In England
02:41I'm in London, England
02:42Watching the show
02:43And I remember being a big fan of Dr. Spock
02:46I wanted the haircut
02:47I think that was probably a sign
02:49What I was to become
02:52Well I'm the outlier
02:53Because I did not
02:55I was watching Lost in Space
02:57Because I was 14 years old
02:59And Angela Cartwright on Lost in Space
03:01Was 14 years old
03:03And she just seemed perfect for me
03:05The Star Trek women were far too old
03:07And unapproachable
03:08Being six or seven years older than me
03:10Or ten years older
03:11So I was a Lost in Space guy
03:13I didn't really get into Star Trek
03:14Until I was cast in Voyager
03:17And then I started to watch Next Generation
03:19And couldn't believe how great the writing was
03:23The original series looked like a bunch of guys
03:25In ski pajamas on a bad set
03:27So it never really grabbed me
03:30But now in retrospect
03:31Going back and exploring and watching
03:34I get why Star Trek was groundbreaking 60 years ago
03:59Here we go
