00:17So my very first question is for you, Tony, and you already said that after Andor, your
00:2510-year adventure with Star Wars will come to an end, but how do you feel living in the
00:33same place of people like George Lucas and Dave Filoni, because what you've done with
00:38Rogue One and Andor is so much loved by this very outspoken fandom like the Star Wars fandom.
00:48I feel really good about it.
00:53It's a surprising thing, if you'd asked me 10 years ago, that that would happen.
00:58No, I do.
00:59I take pride in what we've done.
01:01I take pride that we've reinforced some things, and we've built a lot of canon.
01:06We've certainly built a lot of traditions.
01:11I'm very proud to be in that pantheon, yeah.
01:13So, and Stellan, Luthen is such a layered character, is doing the right thing, but in
01:19a way that feels almost dark sometimes.
01:23How do you wrap your head around that kind of complexity when you have to prepare a character
01:27like this, and also working on the evolution of a character from season one to season two?
01:35Yeah, well, it's, he's very much a revolutionary, according to my view of revolutionaries.
01:44I mean, a revolutionary, even if he's a good revolutionary, has to make really, really harsh
01:49decisions.
01:50And there's, it's that conflict that is interesting.
01:57And he's not that affected by the conflict.
02:02He knows he's got to do it.
02:04But there are, he leaks now and then that it hurts inside him, and he has problems with
02:11dealing with it, but it's very little.
02:14And then, when he goes into the last season, he knows that they're on his tracks.
02:21They, they, they, the, the, the, the bad guys are coming around, coming around for him.
02:27But, and he, he has to finish some things before, I mean, saving, um, uh, Genevieve, the,
02:37the Mon Mothma thing, getting her out of the, uh, of the, of the, uh, away from the danger
02:43of, of her, uh, uh, profession.
02:47So, I mean, it's, uh, yeah, well, it's, it's, it's, it's an interesting character.
02:54It's, it's very interesting.
02:56And Tony, after Rogue One, you, you already filled a lot of blank spaces between, uh, the
03:02movie and, uh, and New Hope.
03:04And then you took a similar approach between Andor and, and, and, and Rogue One.
03:09Uh, but Star Wars fans obviously have huge expectations in terms of, of canon.
03:14So, how do you balance, uh, these expectations with the story that you actually want to tell?
03:21Well, I have five years that are mine, right?
03:25I have that five-year period.
03:26I know that five-year period really, really well.
03:29I, I, I wouldn't win a Star Wars quiz show.
03:32I wouldn't win the trivia question.
03:33But the five years I know really well.
03:35And in the five years, um, you know, canonically, I have events and things I have to pay attention
03:41to.
03:41You obviously know a lot of stuff about Star Wars, and I'm not sure if your audience knows
03:45how many, but there are so many levels of material and there are many different ways
03:50to interpret what canon is.
03:51Sometimes there are things that are inconsistent.
03:54So, in many ways, we've done a lot of housekeeping.
03:56We've cleaned up some problems that were, uh, issues before.
04:00In some places, we've suggested that, uh, maybe what you thought you knew isn't exactly
04:04what you knew.
04:05But here's why, um, I know that I have the Gorman massacre that has to appear at a certain
04:11point.
04:11I know that's the reason Mon Mothmo leaves.
04:13That's a huge advantage to me in organizing the show.
04:17That's a landmark.
04:18It's a lighthouse I can, I can drive to.
04:19So, I, I, I view the, uh, I mean, I, I understand the canon in my five years very, very
04:28well.
04:29If I have a confusion, I call out to the Vatican and Lucasfilm and Pablo Hidalgo straightens
04:33me out.
04:34And, and, and many times you call with a question and they don't have an answer and it's, it's,
04:41uh, it's, it's free to invent.
04:42So, we've invented a lot of things.
