00:24Michigan, has now been identified. Authorities say the man responsible is Ayman Mohamed Ghazali.
00:31But the big question many are asking now is, who exactly is Ghazali?
00:38Investigators say Ghazali was originally born in Lebanon in 1985. He later moved to the United
00:46States, entering the country in 2011 through Detroit Metropolitan International Airport
00:52on an immigrant visa. Officials say he eventually became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2016.
01:00For several years, Ghazali reportedly lived in Dearborn Heights near Detroit and worked in the
01:06restaurant business. Authorities say he had no widely reported criminal history before the incident.
01:13But on March 12th, the situation changed dramatically. According to investigators,
01:20Ghazali allegedly drove a truck straight into Temple Israel, one of the largest reform synagogues in the
01:27Midwest. The vehicle smashed through the entrance of the building, causing major damage and sparking
01:34panic inside. At the time, a preschool inside the synagogue complex had around 140 children and staff
01:42present. Police say Ghazali then exited the vehicle carrying a rifle. Security guards stationed at the
01:50synagogue quickly confronted him, leading to a brief but intense exchange of gunfire. Ghazali was shot and
01:57killed by the synagogue's armed security personnel, stopping the attack before it could cause even greater harm.
02:04Miraculously, none of the children, staff members, or worshipers inside the building were injured.
02:12Following the incident, emergency services rushed to the scene as firefighters battled flames from the crashed vehicle.
02:20Now the investigation is moving into its next phase. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S.
02:28Department of Homeland Security are examining Ghazali's background, digital activity, and possible motive behind the attack.
