00:06strain whenever you are on your systems and you are seeing colored halos
00:12especially during the night time please don't dismiss it as a sign of aging
00:17because all of this could be symptoms of glaucoma yes you heard it right
00:23glaucoma glaucoma basically causes loss of field of vision what is field of
00:28vision let me explain it to you whenever I am looking straight into the camera I
00:32see a lot of things around me and this is my field of vision for example when I
00:37am driving I can see that there is a car who is trying to overtake my car that is
00:42due to my field of vision gradually what glaucoma does is it loses the field of
00:48vision and at the very end stage only a central tunnel vision is left but by
00:54that time majority of damage is done and this damage my friends is unfortunately
00:59irreversible damage there is no treatment which can help us regain our vision which
01:06we lose to glaucoma that's why understanding glaucoma becomes all the
01:10more very very important let us understand what are the risk factors for
01:14glaucoma so that if it is in your life you can reach out to an ophthalmologist and
01:20get yourself checked for glaucoma first and most important risk factor is age
01:24anyone who is above the age of 40 is at increased risk of glaucoma second most
01:29important risk factor for glaucoma is a strong family history of glaucoma anyone
01:35with strong family history that is parents grandparents suffering from glaucoma
01:39should get themselves examined and if you are a patient of glaucoma please
01:44encourage your kins your siblings to get themselves checked for glaucoma third
01:48important risk factor is increased intraocular pressure just like blood
01:52pressure in the vessels of our body there is also a pressure of our eye this
01:57is called intraocular pressure and increased intraocular pressure leads to
02:02damage of optic nerve which leads to glaucoma eventually so it's very important
02:08to get your intraocular pressure checked just like you get your blood pressure
02:12checked on every routine examination and after this the risk factors
02:18are very high powered glasses either plus powered glasses or minus powered
02:23glasses again diabetes mellitus and hypertension again are very very strong

02:36glaucoma so for any reason if you have been using steroid it's very important
02:40that you rule out glaucoma from your eyes so now that you have understood the risk
02:45factors you have understood the signs and symptoms of glaucoma it's very important
02:50that you don't let glaucoma take away your vision and the only way of doing this
