00:00Happy birthday Valentina!
00:02Oh, thank you!
00:04Everyone needs to know your birthday, including me.
00:07Yes!
00:31In this movie, we have a new character, America Chavez, and we can say that she's like a student for
00:40Steve.
00:41Do you believe that having a student or someone to teach something to is good for him?
00:48Oh, I don't know about that.
00:49You'll have to wait and see what that dynamic is and how it plays out.
00:52It might surprise you if that's what you think.
00:54And if this movie can teach us, the audience, something, what would it be, in your opinion?
01:02You're always better off together than on your own.
01:05Christine says to Strange that she can't love him because he is the one that always wants to hold the
01:12knife.
01:12Do you believe she's right?
01:14For sure.
01:15And in the iteration that they've existed together in their life, he has been that person.
01:22He's always the person who has to take ownership of the ideas to be the star in the moment of
01:29surgery.
01:30And he's the one that likes to be in control.
01:33And this film is very much, if anything, if anything, if it's to do with Strange, it's to do with
01:40his shift again, I think,
01:41from something that wasn't fixed when he became a selfless sorcerer helping others,
01:46is that he still thinks the best way to do that is on his own.
01:49And so that's kind of what he, that's a slight character shift that goes on in this film for him.
01:54In this movie, at least in the first minutes, you, Strange, uses the word sacrifice a lot.
02:02Do you believe that it's important making sacrifices when there's the greater good?
02:08And how can we do it?
02:10Because it's not easy.
02:11It's not, no, but actually it sort of is.
02:15When you start doing it, you feel good about it.
02:18There's just something that settles in you when you try to do things to help others less fortunate in yourself
02:25or try to alter your behavior so that it's better for others or anything that we do to adjust
02:33that might involve a sacrifice or something we enjoy doing.
02:36And, you know, it can be as good for us as other people.
02:39It's like a question of, I don't know, indulging in advice like a drink or whatever it might be.
02:47I think, you know, you feel good about exerting that control, that willpower, as well as it doing good for
02:53others sometimes.
02:54Another key word in this movie is dreams.
02:58Do you fear dreams now after this movie?
03:01Well, it's funny because before I did this, we were shooting The Power of the Dog in New Zealand.
03:04And, I mean, I did Spider-Man in between, so I was used to getting back in the cloak and
03:08being him.
03:09But I definitely think the dream work that I did for that character, I then started to do a little
03:13bit off for Strange.
03:14It was a very different task and a very different set of challenges to playing Phil Burbank,
03:18but it was still something that fell into my work.
03:22And I think dreams are our own multiverse.
03:25That's where we get to act out these alternate realities.
03:29And that fascinates me, what our brain is capable of doing, you know, augmenting our experience
03:34but also creating impossible experiences, whether it's, oh, suddenly I know how to, you know, pilot a helicopter
03:41or build one or whatever it might be, the sort of alternative reality that they provide us with
03:48is, I think, you know, source for wonderful, wonderful creativity.
03:52Thank you so much. Bye.
03:55Happy birthday.
03:56Thank you so much. Bye.
03:57Have a great day. Bye-bye.
