00:04Douglas Furness was born on December 11, 1959, in Commerce, Oklahoma.
00:09Before becoming a lifter, Furness was a promising American football player.
00:14He attended Commerce High School in Commerce, Oklahoma, winning a state championship in
00:18football before helping the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Norseman to an NJCAA National Football
00:24Championship.
00:25Later, he transferred to play for the Tennessee Volunteers.
00:28Furness began his career in continental championship wrestling in late 1986, as a guest of the
00:33promotion during a card at the Civic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
00:37He watched promoter Bob Polk get assaulted by Kevin Sullivan, then the manager for the
00:41New Guinea Headhunters, until he could bear no more, and injected himself into the situation,
00:46effectively beginning his pro wrestling career.
00:48The duo joined Extreme Championship Wrestling in mid-1996, Furness made his in-ring debut
00:53in a losing effort against Rob Van Dam on August 24, 1996, after being revealed as a mystery
00:58opponent for the latter.
01:00On September 13, he was joined by LaFawn, and the duo defeated Mikey Wiprec and Luis Spicoli.
01:05On October 26, the duo was defeated by Sabu and Rob Van Dam in Philadelphia, PA.
01:10Now Dwight Douglas Furness is going into this year, the class of 2026 ECW Hall of Fame.
