00:00trust fiducia il mio nome è raya le nostre terre sono in guerra ormai da tempo immemore i nostri popoli
00:17non si parlano per ristabilire la pace dobbiamo trovare l'ultimo drago i want you know everything
00:24about the sword dragon that is amazing it's really beautiful how did you find the right look for the
00:32sword the sword well the sword is interestingly it's inspired by the chris which is uh which is
00:38found in indonesia and malaysia and in in philippines i believe in other parts which is that
00:43the wavy sword and it is usually considered a sacred sword and it is taken care of very well
00:48and passes down in the family the kind of fantasy element of it was that it breaks up into those
00:53little pieces we were thinking how could we get give her something that's almost like you know
00:58the swiss army knife of swords it can do anything you can rappel down a mountain you can do this
01:03you
01:03could do that and how how do you create something super cool like that so that was the inspiration
01:09behind uh raya's sword i i love how you um describe every character with food how important was food
01:20for you in this movie my gosh well if you know anything about southeast asian culture we're
01:25obsessed with food we eat all day long and uh the food was important first of all you know for
01:31all
01:31the creators myself quigua and my co-writer all the people uh from southeast asian culture um you know
01:36in the in the disney story team and visual development um so you know it's definitely a thing that brings
01:42people together but more importantly um you know in southeast asia you have so many different cultures
01:47countries uh uh you know traditions religious backgrounds and it's very easy for us to look at
01:53these differences as things that can drive us apart or for us to look at each other as the enemy
01:57but truly when you look about what's wonderful and most special about all the different cultures
02:02it is because of all these different influences our food some of the best street food in the world
02:06because of all the different influences it has in it so it became this perfect metaphor for when you
02:12know raya is receiving this lesson from her father who uses food to show love one-on-one but also
02:17to
02:17teach you a bigger lesson uh in general about the world mm-hmm sifu says that uh sometimes you
02:24have to take the first step even if you're not ready but it's not simple so how can we find
02:30the courage
02:30to to do the first step trust
02:41i think that we thought about that a lot um it comes up for every one of us in our
02:49lives right
02:49you're in situations that are difficult or where you feel something and there's a certain kind of
02:55courage it takes to allow yourself to be vulnerable even when you don't know what's going to happen
03:00i think of it as as as a as a feminine power whether it's in a man or a woman
03:05that ability to
03:07that courage that it takes to go i'm going to do this i'll get i'll get hit back i get
03:11pushed back i
03:12might get betrayed but this is what is important for the greater good and i think that when you
03:17take that step eventually it inspires everyone else to take that step with you so um i think it's
03:25about finding the courage to try thank you so much amazing job i love the movie
03:32thank you so much
