00:00Oooo, going down
00:04The only thing I think that kept us guided
00:09Was the music
00:10My whole world's upside down
00:19It just saved you
00:23Global superstar
00:24Double Oscar nominee
00:25Nine Grammy Awards
00:27The queen of hip hop and R&B
00:29Mary J. Black
00:32Real love
00:33Nobody sounds like her
00:35When Mary sang, I heard the pain of a generation
00:39In the neighborhood we lived in, it's like prison
00:42There was a lot wrong and there was a lot I needed to get out
00:47That's why I had that pen
00:50Sleep don't come easy
00:51My life is probably my darkest album
00:54At one of the darkest times I've had
00:57Most of the times I was just depressed and didn't want to live
01:01I had it all inside and I was able to sing it and write it
01:04I didn't know that so many people felt the same way
01:07She made it okay for people to say it's alright to be me
01:14We still don't get to see that a lot
01:17You know, still
01:20Ooh baby
01:21I'm going down
01:23If you're here tonight and you're a Mary J. Blige band
01:26I'm going down
01:27You have been tested
01:29You have been tried
01:30My whole world's alive
01:32My whole world's alive
01:33And you have been proven
01:34I love you
01:35A lot of young black women could relate to where she came from
01:40She gave us a face, she gave us a name
01:42We did something really powerful by inspiring each other to want to live to see another day
01:47My whole world's alive
01:49My whole world's alive
01:52Sigh down
02:17There isn't any type of
02:19Here's talking about
02:19If value
