00:00Bandersnatch.
00:01Bandersnatch.
00:01Bandersnatch.
00:02Bandersnatch is a unique Black Mirror story in that it's interactive.
00:06You, the viewer, get to decide what's going to happen.
00:09It's actually quite complicated behind the scenes,
00:11but for the viewer it's fairly straightforward.
00:14You are given choices.
00:16Will you go out of the door or will you jump out of the window?
00:19But there's myriad sort of timelines and story branches you can go down.
00:26Netflix asked us if we'd be interested in doing an interactive story.
00:30I knew I wanted to do another period episode,
00:33and I thought, well, what if you're controlling somebody in the past?
00:36So it kind of spiralled from there.
00:45The past is immutable, Stefan.
00:48We can't choose differently with hindsight.
00:50The story itself focuses on a young guy called Stefan Butler.
00:54Stefan.
00:55Stefan, sorry.
00:56That's all right, I get it all the time.
00:57Stefan is a video game coder,
00:59and it's a story about him trying to make his first game and get it published.
01:03Tucker's an entrepreneur, he's a bit of a hustler,
01:06and he set up his company, Tuckersoft,
01:08and he's got basically a bunch of nerds in,
01:10and he's just working them dry, basically.
01:13I'm Colin, yeah?
01:15Yeah, I've played all of your games.
01:17Colin is a gifted games developer.
01:19He recognises a certain talent in Stefan.
01:23How did you know that?
01:32It was very challenging at every stage.
01:35There were points where, in working stuff out,
01:37it got like trying to do a Rubik's Cube in your head,
01:40and I had to literally get up from my desk
01:43and kind of walk around the house holding my head.
01:45It was a new experience producing this film.
01:48I remember midway through the first day,
01:50literally ripping up the call sheet and the running order and going,
01:53OK, we need to do this a different way.
01:56Then you've got the actors having to keep track of where their character is,
02:01bearing in mind that the previous morning they may have played themselves in a different timeline.
02:06It is really hard to get your head around which scenes you're doing,
02:09because there's just so many.
02:10Sometimes I'd be delivering what I thought was version three of the dialogue,
02:13and I can see the actor opposite me giving me the eyes of saying,
02:15that's version four, mate.
02:16As you watch or play, you kind of become part of the story yourself.
02:22The interactive element was core.
02:24It was adding a whole other conceptual value.
02:27There's all sorts of different narrative paths,
02:29and they could lead you in this direction or that,
02:31or they can even lead you in a great big loop all the way back to the very beginning.
02:36Bandersnatch.
02:37Bander what?
02:37Bandersnatch.
02:38Bandersnatch is a unique Black Mirror story in that it's interactive.
02:52And we see that all the pages see on the other hand.
02:53But there's no change to with this content here.ços.
02:54Grazie a tutti.
