00:02E ora...
00:05...d'essere venuti insieme.
00:10Chubekka è un'icona, è un simbolo, è un personaggio storico del cinema ormai.
00:16Cos'hai provato la prima volta che hai indossato il suo costume e hai messo quella maschera?
00:20I felt like some good opportunities were gonna be in there.
00:26Because you're not yourself when you wear a mask.
00:29So you're more free to...
00:31You don't have to be self-aware of your own face.
00:36Only your eyes show through the mask.
00:38So that gave me great freedom.
00:40So I was really excited.
00:41And also I really realized it hit home that I was in Star Wars.
00:46So that was...
00:49It felt like a lottery win.
00:52Can you tell us about how it was the passing of the award
00:55compared to Peter, the actor who interpreted it?
00:58Yeah, we co-played Chewbacca in The Force Awakens.
01:03But it was always very respectful and very gracious.
01:06He was really good about it.
01:08He understood that he could no longer do some of the stuff required.
01:12So I stepped in and he was really good about it.
01:15and I really respected that kind of grace that he allowed me.
01:20What is the biggest difficulty in singing with a costume that covers so much?
01:24I think the most difficult thing is to get the movements right
01:32and repeat those for 15 takes.
01:34Sometimes we shoot a lot of dialogue.
01:39But Chewbacca is in the scene.
01:41So Chewbacca has to do and be Chewbacca for so many takes,
01:45as do the other actors.
01:46But then you have to...
01:49It's always important to stay in character.
01:52So maybe that's the most difficult thing.
01:54You've worked with more than a writer who has faced the Star Wars saga.
02:00So with J.J. Abrams, with Rian Johnson, and Ron Howard alone.
02:05What difference have you seen in the approach of the different writers in the world of Star Wars?
02:10Yeah, I think it's always a different story.
02:14It creates different needs.
02:17But the approach is pretty basic.
02:19The director wants you to deliver the lines in the script.
02:22and it's the basic thing is the same, the process.
02:29But then what difference is how they treat the actors
02:32and how they approach solving problematic moments.
02:38But everyone, every director I've worked with is so professional
02:42and so experienced that it's always been,
02:46we've gotten good results regardless of who has been directing.
02:51What's your favorite moment of those who have interpreted as Chewbacca?
02:55My favorite scene, I have to say...
02:59Probably...
02:59Oh, yeah.
03:00The one where Chewbacca,
03:02when L3 gets hit and Lando goes to save him
03:06and gets hit at him as well.
03:08And Chewbacca runs to save them both.
03:10That was my favorite scene.
03:12The last thing, I know,
03:13obviously I could not say anything about the new film,
03:16but how can you describe the end of this new trilogy
03:21with three words?
03:22Epic, awesome conclusion.
03:27Thank you so much.
03:28Thank you.
03:51Thank you so much.
