00:03se ripetiamo le storie tante volte
00:09diventano reali
00:13there are so many great stories in the books
00:15it's been a joyful experience to get to know this world of
00:18Schwartz and Gamal
00:20the beauty of the scary stories to tell in the dark books
00:23is that they have the simplicity of a campfire tale
00:26raccontami la tua storia
00:28they're so terrifying and they're super timeless as well
00:33they span two, three generations
00:35this is what scared me when I was a kid
00:37and it's still very entertaining
00:41it's also a massive sort of cult following
00:43it's really exciting to be able to show that and bring it to life
00:46the stories are great fun
00:56but the drawings are obviously what's scary about these books
01:00it was important that we really followed the art style of Stephen Gamal
01:06I learned to be very respectful of the source material
01:10so that like creature design has been based very definitely in the drawings
01:14it almost feels like those illustrations are jumping off the page
01:23we are recreating some of the most cherished horror tales
01:28the film is really a mix between a modern horror movie
01:32and a throwback to the Amblin movies I grew up with
01:46the beauty of this is parents can take their kids
01:50because they themselves read these books
02:01and they know they are thrilling but they are really quite funny
02:09the next one
02:13so
02:13you
