Intervista a James Wan, regista di Aquaman
Trascrizione
00:02Siamo pronti per l'Atlantis, sì?
00:05Sì, proprio come Mera!
00:07Sì, spero!
00:11Cosa puoi esserci più di un re?
00:15Un roi!
00:18Sì, ecco!
00:23I really appreciated the fact that you chose Italy to show Atlantis people that the heart is beautiful.
00:31Right.
00:31So, thank you!
00:34Appreciate that!
00:36No, I literally, like the inspiration came from, I was taking a small little vacation in Positano and all the
00:44sort of surrounding sort of coastal towns.
00:45And I got really inspired by that.
00:46I was like, wow, it would be amazing if Aquaman, you know, like for the surface world sequence, gets to
00:52visit a quaint little sort of fishing village in Italy.
00:55And so it kind of was inspired by a vacation I had.
01:00There's a really interesting quote in the beginning of the movie, which says,
01:05On earth you feel the tears.
01:07Right.
01:07Do you think that feeling also bad feelings is important to not only become a hero, but to be a
01:13better person?
01:14Well, I think, you know, like a lot of the good superhero movies, they're all very emotional and they're all
01:21kind of like teachers themes and thematics that are sort of, that are very human.
01:26And I think that's very important.
01:28And especially for a movie like this that take us into really sort of fantasy, fantastical world with all these
01:34like these larger than life sort of characters and situations that it's important to ground the movie with human emotion.
01:40And that's why the relationship between Nicole Kidman's character and Tamara Morrison for me is so important because it's the
01:49emotional backbone for the whole film that our hero feels and he goes through and all that stuff.
01:56And I think that kind of stuff is important. And I think that stuff is important. All the films that
02:02I make.
02:05Without giving spoilers, one character says to Aquaman that he has to fight for everyone. Instead, his brother says that
02:12mercy is not the Atlantis way of life.
02:15So do you think that we have in this precise moment of history, we have to fight for everyone and
02:20we have to show mercy to other people?
02:23I think, you know, I think it is very, I guess, appropriate for the times that we're in, especially for
02:31a character who's supposed to be a hero, right? A superhero in this case, right?
02:34But I think the bigger lesson there is, you know, like you don't have to be a superhero to like
02:39to, you know, to kind of fight and believe in the right things.
02:44I really enjoyed the fact that it seems that you have put all together all your favorite movies as a
02:50little bit of Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings. How fun was for you?
02:55It was cool. And I know it has a little bit of flavor of everything. And but that's how the
03:00comic book was, you know, like the comic book spanning like over 70 years just has like all these wonderful
03:07elements, right?
03:08Like they have sea monsters in the books, they have crazy sort of adventures in the high sea, you know,
03:15pirate storylines and all of that. And so, you know, that there's obviously that influence from that.
03:21And of course, you know, growing up being a product of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and Jim Cameron and
03:29all that stuff. You know, I feel like this was like a movie where I can finally get to, you
03:33know, do something like in the old school sort of movies that I love.
03:37Okay. Thank you so much. Thank you. I really enjoyed the movie.
03:40Oh, thank you.
