Congress leader and Lok Sabha Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized the Indian government over a growing LPG and energy crisis linked to escalating conflict in the Middle East. Gandhi warned that the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran could have severe economic consequences for India, especially if disruptions occur in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world’s oil supply passes.

He argued that India’s heavy dependence on energy imports through the region could trigger fuel shortages and rising prices. Gandhi questioned the government’s oil policy, warning that panic over LPG supplies and economic pressure may worsen.
