00:02I'd met Brad a couple of times and I knew that he was interested in working with me and I
00:06was interested in working with him but you know it's but you know it doesn't really work that way with
00:12me it is a situation where it always is the character first.
00:18I was writing this character Waldo Reign he um as I was writing I just started like hey this this
00:23could be a good role for Brad and then writing it more this could be the role for Brad this
00:28could be it and then by the end of it I started getting nervous because I was like okay well
00:34what do I do if he doesn't do it and then also it was uh and all because I'm finishing
00:40up the script like I said we gotta start it right away and you know we're uh
00:44uh get going on it so what's the chances that the most in demand movie star you know of his
00:52time you know is like would one want to do it and be available right exactly when I need him
00:59which is right now and just have sometimes the movie gods frown on you sometimes they smile on you this
01:06is one of those times that everything just fate lended it uh reached out and extended its hand.
01:16It was very difficult um because you know in particularly like during pre-production I was literally having to fly
01:23to from Germany to Paris every weekend for casting and the casting was very long drawn out process I mean
01:31it was just grueling because I was always acting opposite them and stuff but it you know you know it
01:36was a tough tough birth but the babies were magnificent I mean it's it's the cast really is in
01:44impeccable they really really support the movie it's almost it's almost it's the I'm almost kind of building the film
01:51on the cast actually in a lot of ways they're almost the foundation of the film the acting.
01:59In the case of uh Christophe Waltz's Londa was um the fact that uh you know he has to speak
02:06uh you know three languages you know perfectly and even a bit of a fourth language and um and you
02:14know you could find actors that you know uh they could they could do the they could do the German
02:18and they could do the French or they could you know or they could do any combination thereof.
02:22But you know just being fluent in a language doesn't you know isn't all isn't all there is all right
02:29I mean actors came in German actors came in that you know could do the German do the French and
02:34they were fluent in English there's no question about their English.
02:37But you know they didn't they didn't they didn't have the poetry in English that they had in German that
02:45they had in French and um and so you know it I literally had to have somebody who could you
02:53know basically get the poetry out of the lines get the rhythm out of the lines and also get my
02:56jokes.
02:57And uh when uh Christophe Waltz came in that's when I realized okay I got uh I've got my I
03:04got my Londa.
03:05you
03:07you
