00:00Um, can you describe Betty Ross for us?
00:03What would you like to know? Everything?
00:05Yes, everything.
00:06Um, I play Dr. Elizabeth Ross, and um, I, my father is General Ross, and um, basically I'm a scientist,
00:17and I work with Bruce Banner, and um, he's my boyfriend.
00:23And, uh, it's kind of complicated, I'm, I'm laughing because the last person that asked me this was regretting it,
00:29because I went on for five minutes about every complicated twist and turn about Betty Ross and the story.
00:35Well, that's what we need to know.
00:37Um, I mean, basically the, you know, there's, in this, in this version of the Hulk, Edward wrote this screenplay
00:45and kind of came up with this idea for, um, that he and I were working on this experiment together,
00:51and the experiment goes wrong, and he turns into the Hulk.
00:55You don't really see, you see that in the credit sequence, and where you start in the middle of, when
01:00you start in this film, it's sort of in the middle of all that, that he has gone to Brazil
01:04to be in exile, because he's so ashamed and hurt by what he's done by becoming the Hulk.
01:11He's so conflicted with everything that's happened, and, um, I, he's left me behind, and sort of really sad, like
01:19years have gone by, and I've sort of finally met someone, a boyfriend, and I'm beginning to heal.
01:25and live my life again, and then he comes back in search of a cure, and we see each other
01:30for the first time, and there's this really beautiful scene where I sort of see him for the first time,
01:35and I think I've seen a ghost, and I go to him, and he's in the rain on this bridge,
01:40and we, like, run to each other, and no kissing, um, but it's, it's really, uh, kind of a shocking
01:46thing for Betty to see him again, and then I go on this adventure with him in search of the
01:53cure, basically.
01:55Excellent.
01:56That was, I'm so tired right now from doing my junket all day, my brain is so fried.
02:00And answering the same questions over and over again.
02:03Well, they're all a little bit different, but it's hard, yeah, yeah.
02:05Can you describe her relationship with her father, General Wars?
02:08She, uh, she's pretty angry at him, and at this, in this movie, they're very estranged, because basically he, he's
02:17so taken with the power of the Hulk, and he wants really to exploit that, and use that as a
02:22kind of a weapon.
02:23And that's why Bruce removes himself from the situation and goes off as a fugitive, running away from my father,
02:30because he doesn't want to let him have this power in his hands.
02:34So I, I really don't have much of a relationship other than I'm really disappointed and angry with him, and,
02:41and he continues to sort of make the same, he kind of lies and makes a lot of mistakes, and
02:47so it's a complicated relationship.
02:50Um, I read that you took this role before you'd actually read the script.
02:55Yeah.
02:55What attracted you to it?
02:57Um, well I heard that they were making, my agent called to say that they were making, um, The Incredible
03:03Hulk again, and would I get on a plane in the morning and fly to L.A. to meet with
03:07them?
03:07Um, they wanted to fly me, and I said, okay, but, but I didn't really know anything about it, and
03:12I, there was no script for me to read, and they said that Edward was attached, and he was in
03:17the process of writing the script at the time, he was like, hidden away in Hawaii somewhere.
03:22So I flew to meet with the director, and I was a really big fan of the TV show when
03:27I was a kid, and just always really loved the idea of the Hulk, and found him, I don't know,
03:35I had so much compassion for, for the character and for the show, I always really loved it.
03:40And, and to me it was unlike any other superhero, he wasn't really a superhero, he wasn't, you know, running
03:45into the other room and like putting on his tights and going off and saving the day, he was really
03:50the misunderstood man and, and hero and so conflicted with all this stuff inside of him.
03:57So, I was really excited when I met with them, and, and the direction they wanted to go with the
04:02project, and who Betty would be in the story, and, and, um, I was really just excited to be a
04:10part of it, really, it was kind of a no-brainer.
04:12Excellent, and do you think this film will appeal to women as well as men?
04:17Definitely, yeah, I mean, I think there's quite a love story here, um, in a lot of ways, and I
04:23think, again, there's so much emotion that goes on with it.
04:27with how you feel for the Hulk, and it's just, and he's kind of sexy, the Hulk. I know that's
04:31strange, but my sister came to the premiere with me and she and her girlfriend were like,
04:35the Hulk's hot. Is that weird? But he really is, um, there's, I mean, it's, it's amazing. They really did
04:43a really good job with, with all the animation,
04:46because he really has a lot of soul in his eyes, somehow.
04:49I hope it.
04:49I hope.
04:49I hope.
