Meanwhile, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai is leading a joint delegation with representatives from Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture to the West Coast, where they hope to deepen semiconductor cooperation.

00:53This is the first time a Taiwan-Japan city-level delegation is going to the U.S. together.
00:58Before leaving, Chen clarified his group is not trying to compete with Taichung Mayor Liu's visit.
01:14Both mayors are expected to return to Taiwan next week.
